Facebook have moved my page likes to another page
Thanks for feedback Spencer The page that facebook removed from me was www.facebook.com/wildatlanticway (no longer active) Over the past year through a combination of posting quality content and paid advertising (with facebook) I had achieved 20,000 likes. All of these likes have been transferred to a new page (which yesterday had 700 likes) www.facebook.com/irelandswaw The Wild Atlantic Way is being promoted by Ireland's tourism board and I quote directly from their reply to me below "You may remember that I called you some weeks back to discuss the Facebook Wildatlanticway url. As you are aware, there is a trademark issue regarding the use of this .url and we requested that you transfer the url back to us as we are the agency who developed the Wild Atlantic Way and are currently working to bring it to as wide an audience as possible to promote Ireland as a holiday destination. "While I appreciate that you have put some time and effort into developing the Facebook page, the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ as a brand and proposition belongs to Fáilte Ireland. Following official discussions with personnel at Facebook, we have learned that we have a right to this url (as the owner and promoter of the Wild Atlantic Way) and Facebook have transferred the page into our possession. Facebook informed me that they would be contacting you about this but I gauge from your email that this may not have happened yet." Tourism Ireland spend a lot of money with facebook and have the advantage of meeting directly with them at their offices in Dublin. I can't even get a reply to an email Brian

New TLDs
The lastest #mozcast update results were interesting. Dr. Pete did some analysis on tlds and non of them were really showing up. https://plus.google.com/+SEOmoz/posts/WxMyUQxp5pt Technically the new tlds you mentioned aren't on here but I'm doubting that including them would make any difference. Sounds like a case study coming up...

Wrong page ranked in Google, specific example
Thanks for your answer Jane. The competition is a mix of some sites being very small and more targeted then us, and some less strong domains doing better. I guess this highlights the importance of not having too many narrow pages which end up being weak. Before the homepage started to rank, there was another wrong page ranking in a similar way until i removed the wording from it also, in the effort to make the correct page show, but looks like google just goes up to the next strong candidate.

How long to recover from Panda Update
Weekly sounds about right. Dont forget to take a look at your places listings, and other elements while you are in the mood to update and improve! I understand how frusterating it can be optimizing an ecom shop or store. Lots of pages, lots of time, lots of typing. Just got done doing a site that had over 3000 pages. Keep your heart in it, and you will see the results you want. I took a look at the site, seemed like you were going in the right direction.

My product pages have no weight / links from root domains with the Moz tool bar
%7E is the ascii code for ~. I'm not certain whats happening, but sometimes when copy and pasting rich text (like from word), the browser will see the ascii code and not the actual ~ character. This makes internal linking a bit awkward and can result in duplicate content, although I'm not sure if search engines would see this example as a problem. I've noticed that you do not have rel="canonical" tags set up, it's worth putting them in just to be on the safe side. I would also have a word with your developers as the urls are very long and messy. Also, try to avoid using upper case and avoid using non-alpha numerical characters (such as ~) except for hyphens. Something like http://www.arkwildlife.co.uk/straight-foods/sunflower-seeds/premium-sunflower-hearts would look a lot better and avoid problems like this occurring in the future. The only problem is that changing the url can temporarily affect search rankings and you must be sure to set up 301 redirects properly.

Guest Blogging
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I have read articles stating the same thing. Like everything with SEO, we want to use guest blogging at a minimal level. I certainly don't see a benefit to over doing it. but we still want to get a few back links. We definitely want an audience, but we are working with the tools we have. At this point we are considering reputable sites like major news outlets or state level law blogs. There are a few sites that sell "SEO services" like Alllaw, findlaw, or NOLO, but we have found that while they can get the client business, they don't actually do much to drive traffic to the actual website (ie those companies want to charge and arm and a leg, but not give you the option of really improving your SEO.)

Pros and cons of video onsite or youtube
CON: "if your video ranks, it will direct users to youtube, not your website - so there is limited SEO value from that perspective." I agree with this. Having your traffic directed to YouTube doesnt really do your site or traffic any favors, BUT you can include links in the description and on the video overlays to combat this. Vimeo Pro allows you to directly embed vidoes on your site, and not have the branded video player. PRO: Its free, and really easy to use/upload/delete/share/modify. A lot of people use YouTube. Seriously. Google indexes YouTube videos in search result pages Can overlay ads on your videos for extra revenue Vimeo is $100 a year iirc. Videos all under one account, and uses gmail account to manage/log in To be honest, I don't think it makes a difference. I would focus on spending extra time on your video, to make it more "conversion-friendly". Spend more time on your message, and what you want to communicate to your viewer. That way, it wont matter where you host it, people will want to come see you.

Report Google Plus Pages for Catergory Stuffing?
I appreciate the response, I succeeded in reporting the page not sure if it will work or not. I normally don't worry about little things I see but this guy had 18 categories loaded with keywords and his business name is stuffed with 6 lines of keywords and he ranks very high. I had to point that one out!!! I reported some incorrect business information using the map maker tool also. I will let you know how it turns out! Thanks again.

Grade Us vs 5 Star Reviews?
Hi guys, Jon Hall from Grade.us here. I stumbled onto this page from Google. Obviously, I'm biased, but I thought I should weigh in at least a little Both Grade.us and GetFiveStars are excellent solutions, and the decision between them will come down to what you're looking for. Grade.us has an exclusive focus on marketers and agencies, and so may not be the best fit for the OP. But those who prefer Grade.us generally value our: - Fexibility: setup, configure and white-label campaigns on a per-client business - Effectiveness at generating reviews on third-party sites: create highly efficient, conversion-optimized review funnels targeting review sites like Google and Facebook (as opposed to internal “feedback”) - Pricing: we’re hard to beat - Crawler-based monitoring: we have the most comprehensive review monitoring platform in the industry covering not just major but minor and niche sites - Review amplification/SEO tools: schema-fied "Review Stream" Wordpress/Joomla/Drupal plugin that pulls in your latest and greatest reviews from around the Web into your website as SEO-friendly content and automates sharing them to social media - Advanced, always evolving stuff: SMS review invites, review email campaign tracking and automation, etc. Hope this helps! I attached a short video demo, too. We're just starting to engage here at Moz, but we're always around to answer questions, demo the product, etc. Jon 152476055

Canonical tag + HREFLANG vs NOINDEX: Redundant?
It depends a bit on your setup and how easy/difficult it is to implement the tags but a couple of things to have in mind: NOINDEX, FOLLOW should still mean the hreflang tags on the page are seen and followed even though the page in question is not indexed, the page needs to be parsed for the crawler to read the meta tag. If you are not facing some serious issue with crawling and your system automatically adds the canonical and hreflang tags then I would leave them as is even on the no indexed pages (you might for example want to start indexing the french pages but not the english pages of certain cat/brand etc combinations and the hreflang tags might help speed recognition of this kind of change to the crawlers). For the x-default my understanding is it is mainly for use in a multinational setup with default landing pages and or auto lang/region redirections and your url suggests your are aiming at Canada (and maybe USA) and only for en/fr so my understanding is it might not be really crucial in this case. Check out this page for some more details.

Monthly Reporting
Hey Jason, Thanks for writing in. Monthly reporting for your campaigns will take place within about 4 days of the completion of each month. I am afraid we can't be more specific than that because every campaign receives a monthly update and it can take some time for all of the several hundred thousand campaigns we run to process each month. The main campaign report is all in the same format and the monthly reporting would be on the same general timeline, but weekly reporting is based on the day of the week the campaign is created. For example, if you create your campaign on a Monday, the first collection will take place the next day and then the weekly report will run every 7 days thereafter, so the report will complete by the end of the day on Tuesday of each week. You can also create custom reports for each campaign, but we don't have a way to set up a standard template for which sections of the campaign are included. You would just have to select the same sections in each report to ensure they are consistent. These reports run when the campaign data has been collected, so weekly reports run the day of the week the campaign updates and the monthly custom reports run after the monthly updates completes. I'm afraid the reporting dates for the campaigns is set by the day they are created and can't be specified beyond that. I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Chiaryn

Is it Easier to rank High Authority Websites?
Some valid comments here, but I'd generally have to agree with Ron - IF the domain really has authority (solid, trusted links, isn't spammy, decent traffic, social signals, etc.) and IF that domain is relevant to your topic, then it could give you a solid boost. As @KempRugeLawGroup said, though, there are cases where Google may not pass the authority of the site after an ownership change, especially if you completely overhaul the site and it's an entirely new topic. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees. A lot of this is at Google's discretion. If you bought a high-authority site about bass fishing and then turned it into an affiliate site for WordPress templates, and the domain was "bobsbassfishing.com" and 80% of the inbound anchor text was "bass fishing", then Google's going to catch on pretty fast. If you actual sell fishing products and keep the brand, but slowly redesign and add new, relevant content, then it's entirely possible that old domain will work in your favor. If you just buy an old domain and then 301-redirect to a current or new and barely relevant domain, then it's at best a crap-shoot. That game has been played far too much.

What are the effects of posting on a blog site using copied content from your site if you source the site on the blog site?
DA is a Moz measuring tool, which isn't used by Google. It is just an indication that the site will rank well (if it's high), or may have difficulty (if its low). PR is somewhat outdated, but is at least something google either still uses or used to use in their ranking algorithm. What google looks at when determining which content is original is which one they find first. To make sure yours is found first use Google+ to share your new pages or twitter to tweet the links. Facebook can also be used for this purpose. Best of luck, Amelia
