  • No real resolution. Spoke with someone from India and they told me to follow the search business angle and I informed them the business was not showing to be clicked on, in order to "Request Admin Rights". Then waited for 10 min on the phone for them to come back and tell me that there is nothing else they can do. I was on the phone for 35 min to get nowhere and will call back again to hopefully speak with another person who can escalate to a more technical person. It is the strangest thing... oh, and frustrating!

  • Jesse, Thank you so much for the response. Much appreciated. It really narrowed down the problem for me . I will begin auditing the backlinks & adding them to the disavow tool. Will really appreciate if you have any suggestions for a recovery? Cheers!

  • Just to clarify, we're parring down in some parts (like this one) and expanding in other parts. It's a give-and-take. FWIW, you can always head to our feature request forum and give your thoughts and the whys around your usage to help our team better understand your needs. We try to think of every case (and if there's another tool out there that can do the same thing), but we don't always hit every one.

  • There are plenty of photos on the Google+ Business page.  I appreciate the quick response and you confirmed my own thoughts.  The odd thing is that sometimes a photo shows up, and sometimes it doesn't, depending on slight variations in the branded search term.  I think it is as good as we are going to be able to get ti at this point.  Thanks again!

  • While the location information has the potential to be very helpful in making business decisions, this data is far from perfect. Google still primarily accomplishes location mapping using IP addresses (specific) and ranges. If the information is not available, a location (not set) will be reported. This simply means that the information was not captured due to not having an IP address to work with. Looking at 100,000+ visits in one of my web properties over the past 30 days we are running between 3-4% location not set. In addition, there are major issues associated with accuracy for mobile devices. Google says the following on their official page: "For web visitors, Location is derived from mapping IP addresses to geographic locations. City location may not be accurate for visits from mobile devices. You can read more about it here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1144408?hl=en Hope that helps!

  • Yes it takes time and ability to get exceptional SEO results, however also there are "horses for publications" and lots of small enterprise owners may be concentrated on non-competitive search terms and simply need the fundamentals of SEO accomplished right in place of greater unique and superior talents. like here on flstatewideinsurance website.

  • A lot of the content is old and I'd like to just move what is still relevant. But if these old pages are indexed, and I suddenly have fewer pages, will that hurt my overall seo ranking of my site? I am not worried about the individual links so much as they don't generate a lot of traffic.

  • Yes, but I'd also make sure to do it in small bits at a time. Meaning, don't change everything at once. Make a small change, wait a bit to see the results, and if they're good, then make another small change. If the results of the first change aren't what you want, then rethink your keyword strategy and try something a little different! Good luck! Give an update in a while if you can. I'd be interested to hear what happens.

  • Hello! I just came across your question. Here is a recent Moz post of mine on how to use log files for technical SEO -- the example screenshots are from the SEO dashboard in Logz.io. Feel free to sign-up at our site and test our public beta to see if it works for you. Disclosure: Yes, I work for the company.

  • It will fully depend on the purpose of each page. In the example case you mentioned, that will be the best solution, but canonical tags =/= noindex tags. I would only suggest using canonical tags if there's a large amount of similar content between pages. For noindex, I generally don't use them unless I specifically don't want a certain page to be indexed (highly-targeted PPC landing pages are a good example) - you usually don't want to deindex pages without a reason/goal. If there's lots of duplicate content issues on your site, here are two possible options for cleaning them up, from most ideal to least: Identify duplicate pages and revise the content itself so that it's sufficiently unique. Remove all noindex and canonical tags unless they were already in place for another reason. Use canonical tags to consolidate two or more pages. This will essentially act as a 301 redirect while still allowing users to view the canonicalized pages if they come across them. Your 'best' page of the group shouldn't have any canonical tag on it. This approach should only be used for duplicate content-related issues, not as a substitute for proper redirects if that's what the situation calls for. Either way, I would remove the noindex tags from your pages unless they were specifically put there for a reason. If you've noticed a bunch, make sure there isn't a toggle or checkbox in you CMS' admin panel that is adding it by default to new pages. Good luck!
