Wrong page ranking for keyword.
I would try to figure out why the home page is ranking so well for that keyword. There must be something else within your content that's boosting it…it can't be just the one link (which I assume is in your navigation, so don't remove that). I would use the page grader tool to compare the keyword phrase with your home page and find out what is making the page rank for that. If you have already taken out what is making the page rank for the keyword, it may just take time to catch up in the SERPs. From there, I would continue to improve the content and internal linking around the page that you do want ranked for your keyword. Like stated above, utilizing social media and your blog is a good way to gain some web presence. The press release and back link thing…don't waste your time or energy. Is the page new? That may also be a factor. Also, is your home page ranking for what you are targeting on there?

Keyword/phrase proximity
The shortest and sweetest answer to this is YES! Long tail keywords are the combination of (mostly) of few head keywords and when you link to long tail it automatically benefit your short tail keywords too. Personally I was trying to optimize for bigcommerce premium themes and get some links with the same anchor text and as a result my client was appearing on the first page for both bigcommerce premium themes as well as bigcommerce themes. Hope this helps!

Reversing the bad effects of a problematic 301 redirect
You're right. If you removed the redirects, there's no need disavow. I assumed that was what you had done to remove the links given you said you sold Site A. In my personal experience, it can take Google months, up to 8 months, to drop links. Hopefully in your case it won't take that long.

How to manage/divide growth in traffic and conversions on both our website and our listing AppStores
In my opinion, you'll need to work on both. But I'd start with whomever has the highest amount of domain authority and/or traffic first. But the most likely case is that people will find out about your B2B app from the Shopify / Bigcommerce / 3dcart sites. The fact that your app is listed there creates a lot of trust and confidence, and is likely the first place that people who have that type of shopping cart system will start to look. I'd make sure that you upload as many screenshots, content, etc, and try to get great rating on these sites first. Your corporate site, though, is the place that people who really want to know more about your company, before they purchase the app, will then go. Your corporate site, though, is less likely to have as a high a domain authority... but you can help reinforce the app listed on the shopify / big commerce / 3d cart sites with strong content and links directly to those pages. I hope this helps! -- Jeff

Supdomain from high Domain Autorithy
as you said, there is no benefit or nearly zero benefit. It would look much better if you had a .com level domain rather than using a subdomain.

Tool Recommendations for Traffic Estimations
Hi there, I would suggest you specifically look at competitive intelligence tools like compete.com or semrush as they can provide somewhat accurate estimates. But there are a lot of online tools and services that provide traffic volume estimations for keywords. They differ in many aspects – different solutions have different interfaces with different additional options available. They also use different data sources. Therefore, the best option would be to check your keywords with several solutions and compare the results. If you have no time for that – you should select the most reliable source for your estimates and stick to it. First of all, these estimates do not take into account click distribution between different TOP positions. Even if you are ranked TOP 1 for some particular keywords, you won’t gather 100% of the traffic. Some part of the traffic will go to Google Local Business. And one more thing that cannot be predicted in advance: any keyword traffic estimator gives data about how much time a particular keyword was entered into the search field, but it cannot tell between real users and automated seo tools that check positions of a particular website for a particular keyword. Hope it helps!

Tool recommendation for Page Depth?
How it works: After crawling a website with Screaming Frog, export the data into one of the three available file formats (.csv, .xls, or .xlsx). Copy all of the data from the Screaming Frog worksheet (starting in cell A4) into cell A2 of the ‘data’ sheet of this analysis workbook. The easiest way to copy all the data is to click cell A4, the use Ctrl + Shift + RIGHT to select all columns of data. Then Ctrl + Shift + DOWN to select all rows of data. Then use Ctrl + C to copy the selected cells. Go to the data sheet of this workbook and Ctrl + V to paste that data into cell A2. Pasting the data into cell A2 will align all the data with the column headers I already have in row 1. If this data does not align properly, then there is an added or missing column of data which you will need to adjust for in the ‘data’ spreadsheet. Report tab The reporting tab is set up to make customizing this report for each website as easy as possible. Hope it helps you. E1hkbk6.png gWksyX0.png

If I am getting links on competitor websites, is it safe to assume those competitors are doing this to hurt our SEO?
I get some of this type of traffic. It is coming from spammer sites. These sites often look like a "directory" or they look like "search results". They are usually running in industries where the cost of an adwords click is moderate to expensive. They are always running ads - usually Adsense. I think that they operate in a few different ways... a) Dynamic site: you go there today and can't find a link. That is because they are changing the data continuously - perhaps daily or by visitor. The might think that changing the data on the site continuously will help it survive in the SERPs. Look at this site today, then go back in a day or two, you will likely see that it is completely different, sometimes it will "look" identical, but the destination of the links have changed. b) Referral log spammers: there never was a link to you on their site. They have a computer program sending a "visitor" to your site so that they appear in your referral log. They are doing this in industries where people pay a lot of money for clicks and pay really close attention to their visitors. They know that you will come looking. They hope that you will click on their ads. c) Malware trap: another referral log scheme to get staff from a high value business, maybe a competitor, to visit their site. That referral in your log was "bait" and you are stepping into a malware trap. A small business in a high value niche is the most lucrative and vulnerable malware target. Staff who are chasing reefers have access to adwords accounts, adsense accounts, checking accounts, credit card with high limits, they got your name, address and zip code. d) Adsense/Adword: these sites display Adsense. Yesterday a visitor, genuine or robotic, was on their site and "clicked" your ad. That produced a visitor to your site and income for their site. e) Combinations of the above: Two or three of the methods above are all being used. Be careful.

When will all of Google Maps be the same again?
Hi BajaSEO, I would recommend that you start here: http://moz.com/blog/pigeon-advice-from-local-seos Pay particular attention to Linda Buquet's comments and then follow them here: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-local-important/21886-pigeon-analysis-new-insights-about-crazy-google.html I believe this is what you are asking about, and I suggest you read that whole thread on Linda's forum. It's 5 or so pages long, but I recommend you follow through on the whole thing. It's the best conversation I have seen regarding the differences between the classic and new Google Maps and reading it should at least confirm what you are experiencing. The results are in flux, likely due to rotating data centers, but as to when this would change, I'm afraid only Google can say.

Parallax and Title Tags
I totally agree but the issue is we have sections of our site we now can't control title tag and descriptions for because we use that anchor jump menu all over the place. That was what I was trying to get to the bottom of. I did find a jquery solution for it that we may try. Thanks everyone!

Link Auditing
There's lots already written about this, but here are my quick thoughts: -Don't rely on an automated tool. -Get links from all available sources - GWT sample, GWT most recent, ahrefs, majestic, OSE, Bing Webmaster Tools if available. -Break it down to one link from each domain. -Check each domain and determine whether the link is one that was made for SEO purposes. -If you're not sure, err on the side of disavowing. -See if the client was given a list of links that were made for them. If so, then start by disavowing those. Hope that helps!
