  • 1.) I'd use option two: • http://example.com/en-ca/ - hreflang="en-CA" • http://example.com/fr-ca/ - hreflang="fr-CA" ... as it most closely resembles the structure of a double barreled hreflang tag. Some hreflangs only reference a location or a language, a double barreled hreflang references both. Since you're using double barreled hreflangs, it makes sense that your architecture should actually fit your own hreflang deployment If your hreflangs are deployed accurately, there's no reason to use the Search Console geo-targeting. In-fact, a lot of people find it overly constricting as it cuts off the tail-ends of the rough-edges of your traffic. Personally, I usually steer clear of it Hreflang structure basically comes from these two lists: Country codes Language codes The more closely your site structure mirrors that and the hreflang tag, the better 2.) Yes, single barreled hreflang deployment is possible: https://yoast.com/hreflang-ultimate-guide/ https://d.pr/i/tuJlYT.png (screenshot) Even Google show that this is possible: https://d.pr/i/HUJESr.png (screenshot) As you can see, it can even be mixed in with other types of hreflangs so that's cool. 3.) From that Google screenshot I just pasted, you can see it's in the header. No - do not add x-default as a hreflang to a URL which has already been assigned a language. In your situation you don't need x-default, ignore and don't use it

  • I'd say no, build a website & create a separate GMB account that links to your website would be a good start. Outranking competitors is a mid to long-term investment in SEO which factors more than just website architecture & GMB.

  • Thank you for the kind comment, John! All credit goes to Darren Shaw who organizes this massive survey. It's such a big job and he did an especially great job this year to make it easier for the respondents to take the survey.

  • Both pages are similar, not much work has been done on either since it's a new project, currently only the homepage is being worked on an SEO level. My homepage is doesn't receive links with location anchortext. my homepage has keywords for both areas I mentioned above because they are highly competitive, Tel Aviv and Haifa both appear the same number of times in the home page text, but the Haifa page has way more keywords and is optimized perfectly but still for some reason doesn't show up as intended.

  • Hi John, I can make this a very lengthy comment, but the answer to both is: Yes and Yes :). Let me know if you have any specific questions. Martijn.

  • Hey Anton, Did you do 1 to 1 301 redirects for all pages on your site? What was an inner page that was ranking well before the switch? Another sidenote - in your Google analytics profile, make sure to change the http to https in both the property settings and the view settings. Thanks! John

  • From my research it is best practice not to use the whole: .com/en/ .com/ru/ style of denoting languages, is this correct? Well I, not I agree with that as long as you set up correctly the language, sitemaps, canonicals and so on you should not have any problem I will give you 2 good examples apple.com neilpatel.com If you notice both of them use subfolders for language and region apple.com/mx/ neilpatel.com/mx/ Based on my experience I avoid creating subdomains because basically, prefer to build authority for a single domain rather than build authority for several subdomains. Both strategies have pros and cons and all depend on the size of the project. I mean a big brand can choose subdomain even when is going to manage several link building campaigns for several subdomains (keep in mind that Google will treat every subdomain as a single independent website). In my case I build authority for the main version of my website www.mycorporatewebsite.com --> English version andwhen I need to launch the Spanish version, this is going to rank a little bit easier mainly for DA that I already built In your case, if you selected a subdomain as your option no matter the reason, this can be technical reasons or maybe it was a client requirement (Russian and China). Well, the steps to follow are these ones. create the subdomains migrate the content redirect the old pages (not delete) submit the new sitemaps to GSC I will strongly suggest you make the process as much gradually as you can to not hurt your main website build a map of all of your internal pages divide it into small categories/tags/taxonomies or whatever you want migrate this small pieces gradually I hope this info will help you Regards

  • Hi Jaward, Don´t know any case where a tool does't show a meta tag when its present and there are no blocking issues. As what it regards to thar site: https://nationalcarparts.co.nz/, there is nothing to worry about. Performing a site: in Google it returs pages with proper title and meta description. Also using Screaming Frog it also found titles and meta tags. Check the attached image. Hope it helps. Best luck. GR KtyB5su

  • Hi Cristiana, It sounds like you need to implement hreflang on your sites. Hreflang can be complicated but you can start reading about it and how to implement it here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag Cheers, David

  • Hi Crystal, I apologize for not seeing your question earlier. It's a really good one. Before I reply, may I ask you a question? Do your landing pages represent physical locations of the business, or just locations that the plumbers travel to for service?

  • Hi Jordan, Thanks for your response. Moz has flagged 5 pages with duplicate content, 2 new which I have redirected. When I look at the others, they aren't actually duplicated eg "Careers" has 141 "associated" pages but none of them are actually similar eg "subscribe to our newsletter".  Re speed, I ran a report which says it is slightly under par - all content loads in 6 secs, all scripts load in 16. Any further thoughts appreciated.

  • We have found the following: 1 Using the API is better than waiting for Google to crawl the jobs. 2 They have you must have data fields, but they have would like to have and be tickled pink if you have fields. Filling in all three changes rankings in the testing we have done. 3 The quality of the title you give vs the title they understand. 4 The overall authority of your site. No exact on this yet but a gut feel factor. 5 SERPs result are also jumping around like crazy just now, we see the Google for jobs panel with no links about it and then four hours later it has 4 organic links about it for the same search, then a day later 2, then a day later none, then back to four then an hour later none... Testing google for jobs when it landed in the UK three weeks ago its results are inconsistent with its own rules, we have found jobs with the wrong suggested title format, the wrong address format, landing pages not actual jobs have found their way onto the service!!! jobs with red warning have made it onto the service and so the list goes on.

  • If there are no errors in the helper tool yer good. I was probably the moron that proposed it not working, but clearly, that's not the case Some pages I got like 2-3 videos from youtube and the JSON works on that, I guess the confusion I had around your initial inquiry was I was thinking in terms of the organization address or something to that effect. Not sure if you've played with the article/ blog post schema, but some the similarly categorized objects literally have to have your organization on some approved list of some sort. Otherwise, it fires off a warning in Googles little testing contraption.

  • Please, could you mark as a 'good answer' if you felt it helpful? It would be disastrous, to be honest. Not only would it completely confuse teh customer continually flicking from local to the central site, it would ruin the local SEO. Good Luck Nigel
