Get up and running with the Moz tools.

  • Hi Paula! And great answer, Blue! Fresh Web Explorer is your best bet for brand & mentions however, I'm guessing you're referring to the old "Brand and Mentions" feature, yeah? If so, I'm afraid it was deprecated in August 2015. For more details about the removal, please visit the announcement from our product manager here: https://moz.com/community/q/brand-and-mentions-is-being-retired Hope this helps! Adriana

  • A-ha, the On-Page Grader should (still) be updated to the Page Optimization Tool (since March at least). Found this: https://moz.com/community/q/why-do-i-get-different-results-with-on-page-grader-and-page-optimization-tool-what-is-the-difference-between-these-two-tools

  • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. Unfortunately, none of our products are ideally set up to track this sort of thing. You could conceivably use Moz Content to see how many shares on social media a review has gotten, but it wouldn't be able to show you what other bloggers have also reviewed that product, and it would only provide a count of shares, not links to where those shares occurred. I'm not aware of any of our products that would help you out with this particular task. Wish I could be more helpful!

  • It is important to keep in mind that the Search Visibility metric relates only to the keywords you are tracking, so it isn't exactly correct to say that the Search Visibility score is skewed if you are tracking branded keywords. This is an accurate visibility score for the keywords you are tracking. You can definitely see the Search Visibility for all of your non-branded keywords by using the filters as you suggested, which will give you a different perspective of your Search Visibility versus your competitors. However, you could say that, in and of itself, the score is somewhat skewed just by the fact that these are the keywords you have chosen to target, rather than the total Search Visibility for all of the keywords you and your competitors may be ranking for. If your competitors aren't specifically targeting the same keywords you are tracking, you may be ranking better for those keywords, but you may not necessarily be as competitive in the overall rankings for every keyword. Our metrics can only be calculated for the terms you choose to track, so it is really just a view of the keywords you are targeting and not necessarily the full picture of your visibility as a site overall.

  • Hi there! Any changes in settings for a related section such as adding a Google Analytics profile (or adding/deleting tracked keywords, changing search engines, updating competitors, etc.), you will have to wait until the next scheduled update for that section to see fresh data! In most cases, that means it should be reflected in the campaign's next weekly update. Let me know if you have any questions, or need clarification. I’m happy to help

  • Hi there! Kristina from Moz's Help Team here. Hi there! I'm sorry your site isn't showing up in Open Site Explorer yet. I'll try to explain a few reasons why this might be happening: There are two types of link data we capture: external and internal linking pages. In order for us to discover backlinks to your site, we need to crawl the sites and pages linking to you. Once we can find those links, we will then be able to crawl your site to find pages you link to and so forth. If you don't see any inbound links from external sites, there are a few things to check real quick: Check your URL for typos or other errors. Did your URL cut off or contain the wrong punctuation? Check out the site's navigation. Sometimes it takes multiple index updates for us to discover pages that aren't linked to from the site's primary navigation. One simple fix is to create a link to the URL from another page on the website. The Mozscape index is still growing! Keep in mind that, while large, our index doesn’t cover the entire web. If you have a smaller site, it’s possible we haven’t crawled the domains linking to it. Search the pages linking to yours to see if we have indexed their links. If you need help with link building, we've got a fabulous guide here: https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-link-building. If you don't see any internal links to your page: Make sure we're not blocked from crawling this URL or site. If our web crawlers are blocked from crawling certain pages (i.e., with "noindex" or Robots.txt), they may not be included in the index. For some more in-depth info, here's how we compile our index: We grab the most recent index. We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains). We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled 90,000,000,000 pages (which is about 35% the amount in Google's index). So, if the site is not linked to by one of these seed URLs (or one of the URLs linked to by them in the next update) then it won't show up in our index. Other tools, such as Webmaster Tools, Ahrefs, and Majestic will alway show more link data as they target the quantity of links, while OSE focuses more on quality and Domain Authority. It’s best to use all the tools you can to obtain a full backlink profile; I've got a post here that details why and how that is: http://www.seobook.com/comparing-backlink-data-providers Mozscape focuses on a breadth-first approach. Therefore we almost always have content from the homepage of websites, externally linked-to pages, and pages higher up in a site's information hierarchy. However, deep pages that are buried beneath many layers of navigation are sometimes missed and it may be several index updates before we catch all of these. We update once a month and you can view the next scheduled update here: http://moz.com/products/api/updates Hope this helps provide some clarity. Please let me know if you have any questions!

  • An error in the crawler is a possiblity. Although i'm not that familiar with the MOZ-crawler so i have to be careful Have you considered issues where the URL is not actually written back to back in the code where you can see it? But where the crawler might get the impression that it has to written back to back? For instance in JavaScript/jQuery or similar techniques? Good luck! Bas

  • Definitely follow up with our team to make sure your settings are great, but specifically asking our community about your site and your competitors (details and general direction of inquires make it easier) in a new question could be insightful. That's after all, what we're here for.

  • Hi Feilim, Moz Pro campaigns are designed to hold the SEO reporting for your whole website. Some people set up campaigns to track their root domain, subdomain or sudfolder depending on their site set up. I can recommend our getting started guide for a walkthrough on how to set up your campaign. Add your keywords when you create your campaign, or through the "Add & Manage Keywords" tab, nested under the "Rankings" tab to track your, and your competitor's, performance over time. Click the keyword to see your rankings over time, which looks like this. You can also get pointers on how to improve your on-page SEO, just click on the little grey optimize button on the right hand column of your keyword rankings to run a page optimization report. I hope this helps, if you're still stuck please write in to us at help@moz.com. Cheers! Jo

  • Hi there! Kristina from Moz's Help Team here. Matt pretty much nailed it - you can create custom reports for each of your campaigns, and including the different sections of your campaign in the report. You can schedule the reports to generate automatically on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. The reports do run on set schedules. The weekly reports are based on the campaign’s weekly update schedule. The monthly reports run by the 4th of every month. By default, the reports will be sent to the admin email on file, but you can also send it to other email addresses as well. Matt's link to our Help Hub area on custom reports is a great area to get more information on this area of the tool and has some pretty nifty screen-shot walkthroughs, as well: https://moz.com/help/guides/moz-pro-overview/custom-reports As always, you can contact our team if you get stuck or need some additional information on a specific area of the tool by emailing help@moz.com. I hope this helps - have a great day! -Kristina

  • Open Site Explorer doesn't track sites over time, so if you're looking to keep an eye on another site, you might wish to include them as a competitor in one of your campaigns! For subscribers, there isn't a hard and fast query limit for Open Site Explorer, so you can search by hand more or less as often as you like. I hope that helps!
