Get up and running with the Moz tools.

  • i'm seeing difficulty of 30-40 for cheap phones (depending on country): https://moz.com/explorer/overview?q=cheap+phones (watch the video that pop's up from Moz's chat helper) Check out https://moz.com/help/guides/keyword-explorer for more in depth info on how the scores are calculated. How is the Difficulty score calculated? Keyword Difficulty takes into account the Page Authority (PA) and Domain Authority (DA) scores of the results ranking on the first page of Google for the given query, as well as modifying intelligently for projected click-through-rate of a given page (putting more weight on higher-ranking, more visible pages and less on lower-ranking, less visible pages). The formula also accounts for newer pages on powerful domains that may have DA scores but have not yet been assigned PA values. What is Opportunity score? Opportunity Score is designed to calculate the relative Click-through-Rate (CTR) of the organic web results in any given Google Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Google SERPs that have very few non-traditional ranking features and are more similar to the classic “ten blue links” only model will have very high Opportunity Scores. SERPs that have many features - like images, ads, news results, answer boxes, knowledge graph panels, etc. - will have much lower Opportunity scores. We use an averaged CTR model derived from our anonymized clickstream data to build this useful metric and apply it based on the features we see in Google’s results.

  • Hi Ken! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In the example that you've provided here, I will elaborate on how our campaign structure works in regards to URLs: Each of these could be created as separate campaigns and if you click the "Exclude subdomains to restrict this campaign to the domain you entered". Subsequently, if you had any subfolders beyond the last slash in your URL, that would be included in that campaign data as well. For example:  Campaign A is setup for http://www.yoursite.com/product1 and you've clicked the "exclude subdomains" checkbox. This would include data for this site structure, as an example: http://www.yoursite.com/product1 http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder2 http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder2/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product1/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) so and so forth... While Campaign B is setup for http://www.yoursite.com/product2 and you've clicked the "exclude subdomains" checkbox. This would include data for this site structure, as an example: http://www.yoursite.com/product2 http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder2 http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder2/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product2/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) so and so forth... And Campaign C could be: http://www.yoursite.com/product3 http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder2 http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder2/examplefolder1 http://www.yoursite.com/product3/subfolder1/examplefolder2 (etc) so and so forth... It's also important to note that if your subfolders exist on the "www" version of your site, you must base the campaign on the "www" URL or else your data won't show up for those subfolders. I hope this helps explain this a little further but please let me know if there's anything more I can clarify! -Kristina

  • Hi friends! To be as clear as possible, this functionality is now available in Moz Pro. You can learn about it here.

  • Thanks for your responses!  I think I will start with Moz Local and go from there, and look into Pro/Content as we get things moving along.

  • Some modules are default monthly such as links data since those update when our index updates. Are there any specific modules you are trying to add that does not have the time frame option? Rankings won't appear the same way, you can toggle weekly/monthly above the graph/chart on the right side Crawls are weekly only as there isn't a "monthly" option to show a list of all errors. The only module you should add here will be for the Issues Overview and priority tabs to show the summary. Use CSV reports to export links data as the rows in a PDF report may not generate if there are too many links. CSVs will show the full URLs while the PDFs will not. Links are monthly only since this data is imported directly from our Mozscape Index. Let me know if this helps!

  • Thanks for the response, David. It would be nice if it could be disabled somewhere in our settings or moved elsewhere on the page. I actually have a lot of things going on in the lower-right portion of my screen, so that is a very annoying place to have something.

  • Hi Brandon! Sorry to hear you're having trouble setting up your campaign. There are a number of reasons the subdomain in question might be inaccessible. It's possible the crawler is being blocked on a server level, or that AWS is blocked, or that the page is returning another sort of server/client error. We're happy to help diagnose this if you write into help@moz.com with details about the specific domain you're trying to enter!

  • Dirk has got you covered here, I just wanted to add some more info for anyone else with a similar query. To track each subdomain separately you can set up individual campaigns and selecting the advanced option like so: http://screencast.com/t/VMaLHNfZ This is only available during campaign setup. To track the main website + 8 subdomains you will need to upgrade to the Medium plan which allows you to up to 10 campaigns. If you're stuck with your upgrade or any account based queries please write in to us at help@moz.com so we can keep your account details private Cheers! Jo

  • Personalized results would be my guess, too. Moz Analytics defaults to national rankings, so it won't take things like your location and search history into account.

  • Hey Kimberly, thanks for writing in. When I use the Hurl.it tool, I'm actually seeing a 500 internal server error from the site: http://www.screencast.com/t/q8ztS92saho, but that doesn't seem to be the main issue that is causing the error for our tools. When I curl the site as Rogerbot, I get a 403 Forbidden error for our crawler: http://www.screencast.com/t/x6hfVJj85I. Unfortunately, this means that your server is specifically blocking Rogerbot from accessing the site, so you would need to work with your webmaster to white-list our crawler in order to create a campaign for your site. Once we are allowed access to the site, the 500 internal server error would also become an issue, so I would have the webmaster for the site look into that, as well. I hope this helps!

  • Hi James! I definitely understand what you're saying. Please know that getting every question answered to the best of our ability is a top priority for us. When we, as admins, see that one hasn't been answered, we utilize an entire staff of expert Associates to whom we assign questions. In fact, an Associate had been assigned to your question shortly after it was initially posted; he just hadn't gotten to it yet. Because our Associates and our community members are located all over the world and have their own careers to consider, often it takes a day or two—and, occasionally, more than that—to get an answer. This is especially the case if it's a particularly complex or specific question. It looks as if you removed the text of this question the same day it was posted which, frankly, is nowhere near enough time to determine that the question won't be answered. Let me know if you have any questions about Q&A or our admin process.
