Mel, "Authority" is Moz's method of measuring strength and just like measuring a person's strength, the measurement doesn't really mean much unless/until it is used in comparison to the strength of something else.  Moz's calculation of page strength, aka "page authority" provides a means for you to measure the strength of one page as compared to others and the their calculation of "domain authority" provides a means to compare one domain's strength against others.  As you're learning, don't worry too much about all the technical aspects that go into calculating authority, but use the calculation simply as a comparison tool. Moz's description of "page authority" Moz's description of "domain authority" Now, when it comes to which of these two calculations you should pay attention to when,  I usually think of it like this: if a competitor's search result for a term you are doing keyword research for is an interior page of their website (not the homepage), you'll want to think about using the "page authority" calculation to compare an interior page you're optimizing with your competitor's result.  If the competitor's result for the the target keyword is their homepage, then think of using "domain" authority" to compare the strength of your two sites in order to get an idea of how much (offsite) work you'll have to put in in order to rise above them for your target keyword.

Erin, thank you very much for your effort. I already contacted my host on this problem, but they say is that they are only blocking Yandex and that every other crawler is allowed. In the past my client did have similair errors (website not reachable) but that was solved i understood. I will contact you via in private for additional information. Also I will contact the host again and ask them to investigate the matter. Best regards, Jos

The on-page grader lists the pages that rank in the top fifty for a keyword in one of your campaigns, so it is not the on-page grader that is choosing a particular keyword for a page, it is Google. In other words, even though your "bracelets" page is not optimized for "rings", it still showed up for "rings" in the search results. And obviously since you did not optimize it for "rings" it did not do well for that word. When you see a grade of "F" for a search term that doesn't apply to that page, you don't need to worry about it. Sometimes pages do rank for keywords other than the ones we are optimizing for. If you get a bad grade for a search term/webpage combination that are supposed to go together, that is the time to go back and re-optimize.

Hi there, The SERPs and other information presented in the Keyword Difficulty tool are going to be for whatever search engine you choose. The only thing that isn't going to be is the Search Volume data. That will always show Bing data because we lost access to Google's API a while back. Instead of leaving this blank, we still wanted to show a snapshot of volume. This has no effect on the score so you're safe there. Hope this helps clear things up!

Hi, That's correct at this time we don't have that feature. The only thing we have that lets you back further in reports is our custom reports. But it only goes as far back as when the custom report was created. So if you created one today then let's say 6 months later you wanted to see your first report you would be able to. You can either set it for weekly or monthly. But as for specific dates Sean is right we don't have that yet, hopefully we will have it in the near future. Thanks Steffany

Thanks David.  The alpha numeric digits are generated and appended to the page by the 'addthis', a third party sharing tool (http://www.addthis.com/). Does this mean Moz will not be able to read all pages containing this redirect behavior?

So I spoke with our host. Basically he has been adjusting the port flood settings because of a DDoS attack we had roughly 9 months ago. We have roughly 1000 domains on the same server, all with wordpress. I went through and changed the nameserver on around 800 of them to bring us down. In the long run, I want to bring us to 1 website. There is no reason for us to have 200, or 5 for that matter. They are redundant websites that were build simply to bolster our main website by blackhat tactics. Our host stated that the only way to keep things kosher would be to switch all 1,000 domains to a new server every 2 years because once the "hackers" find out that there is a cluster of 1,000 domains in the same place, they will blast it. Anyway, I'm working on cutting the domains in the safest way possible, and switching servers as soon as possible!

You can refresh the rankings whenever and you can send reports to a different email then the account's email. Hi Surabhi, Don't look at the meta data alone. Look at the content along with the keywords list and the keyword cloud. Compare this with your competition. The results are very obvious.
