Why don't I have permission to view the update calendar?
Yes, this is a little long between updates. We had to make the tough decision to not release an update because of quality issues. We have some more details about what happened at http://moz.com/products/api/updates. So sorry about that!

Why is my MOZ ranking better but my ranking worse
Improving your MozRank is not a guarantee of improved rankings in the SERPs. While the MozRank is fairly indicative of PageRank, it is by no means the same, and something that affects MozRank may affect your Google rank differently. Also, changes to your site may not be initially recognized by Google as Chris said, whereas Moz can detect those changes immediately. Finally, if you make too significant of changes to your webpages, Google may recognize that as a sign that the site has changed (as opposed to slight content modification), and your rankings will be more easily affected.

Why is the weekly rankings report often inaccurate?
Hey Andrew, Thanks for writing in and sorry that your rankings are looking off in the Web App. I'm not sure why you would be getting different results in the Web App rankings than you would be getting when you run the searches yourself; it could be a lot of things. The search engines all maintain multiple indices that run across multiple datacenters. This means if you query different datacenters, you can get somewhat different ranking results. Other elements, such as personalization, geography and search history (even if you're logged out of your Google/search engine account) can also influence ranking positions. Hence, there can be a lot of variation in what different people, searching from different computers/locations might see in the rankings. Our solution has been to run searches from a variety of IP addresses and IP blocks using non-personalized, search history/location agnostic requests. In our experience, these have provided the most accurate results, showing what the "most" users see, though we know there's still quite a bit of room for fluctuation. In the meantime, I can try to see if it's a bug on our side if you can let me know... 1. The campaign that is having this issue 2. The login email address for the account that the campaign is part of 3. The keyword and URL combination that is having discrepancies 4. The ranking that you're getting in Google versus what the Web App tells you. This way I'll be able to check it out on my side to see if it's a bug or something else. If you prefer to keep that information private, you can email it to help@moz.com Thanks so much! Chiaryn Help Team Ninja

Crawl results on keyword rankings differ from actual search rankings
Hey Mathijs, Thanks for writing in and sorry you're getting this problem. I am going to try to answer this without including your specific domain information in the public forum. It looks like this is happening because your campaign is based on the "subdomain" www.EXAMPLE.com instead of the full root domain EXAMPLE.com. Since the campaign is set up for www subdomain, we can only crawl pages with the www prefix in the URL and we will only search the rankings for pages in the domain that include the www prefix, but www.EXAMPLE.com redirects to EXAMPLE.com so we aren't able to crawl past the redirect. Also, EXAMPLE.com is what is ranking in the engines, and is where all of the pages are hosted, so you're not getting results on those pages or rankings. Instead, you're getting information based on only the pages and rankings that are connected to www.EXAMPLE.com. Unfortunately, the only way to solve this is to start up a new campaign based on the full root domain, EXAMPLE.com. After you set everything up in that campaign, you should begin to get crawl data within three to seven days, and everything should be peachy-keen! You'll have a plethora of data that you weren't getting before on the www.EXAMPLE.com subdomain. I hope this clears things up. If you need further clarification with specific examples, please let me know. Also, if you prefer to keep your domain name private you and also email us at help@moz.com. Chiaryn Help Team Ninja

Infographic distribution sites, ideas & tools
Have you tried using social media to promote your infographic? Infographics are meant to be viral content and social media sites would be a good platform to do that. You may want look into using Facebook (if your infographic is too long, you may want to include a link to the full image). Pinterest would be a good idea too, since infographics can be viewed in full and easily repinned for more exposure.

I have a Forum, so as a result I have a lot of links Is that a problem?
Hi Taimoor, I'm a little bit confused by 'too many links' - which report are you looking at? Is it an on-page report? If you're talking about excessive internal links then whilst this won't harm the page, but you may find you have issues getting all of the pages on your indexed (if the excessive internal linking is a deliberate information architecture decision and the only way the search engine robots can crawl and index the pages on your site). If you're talking about excessive external links then your page may be considered spammy by the search engines (particularly if those links are not pointing to high quality/trustworthy sites). I hope this helps, Hannah

Rankings reporting showing inaccurate improve/decline/unchanged numbers
Hi Jessica Jesse is correct that your email summary and the website changes are reporting for all 3 search engines by default. If you want to look at the individual search engine changes you can filter your results by selecting Show: My Rankings then next to it compared to competitors (Bing en-US) as an example and you will see the above summary change. Hope this helps!

Search issues
Hey Michael, Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry if you've been seeing any troubles with the tools. Unfortunately I'm not 100% certain which tool you're asking about. We have several tools that offer competitive information and none of them are experiencing any issues like this. So I'm afraid I will need to get more information from you. Can you please provide some screenshots illustrating the troubles you've been having. If you'd rather the URLs remain private I'd be happy to continue this in a support ticket if you email them to Help@moz.com. Thanks! Joel.

Custom Report Dates
Hi there! You can setup custom reports to run weekly or monthly but they will coincide with your current crawl/ranking schedules. Currently there isn't a way to change your crawl schedule to specify the actual report times. More info can be found here: http://moz.com/help/pro/custom-reports Hope it helps!

@staff When is Moz Analytics coming out?
I suspect the answer is something along the lines of "soon" (tm) with a pinch of "when it's ready". Having been in software far too long, the absolute worst thing they could do is unleash it as beta to us when it's still a little flakey or inconsistent. Analytics that aren't consistent and correct are of marginal use (yes, ok I know about Google Analytics issues), and would probably generate a whole load of support requests - time that will be better served polishing and completing the service. Would probably lead to a lot more questions along the lines of "are we nearly there yet?" too! I'm sure there's a few carefully chosen alpha testers who are willing to put up with pain, compare with Google and other analytics and not rely on it for any sort of decision yet. Me, I'm happy to wait until they think it's resilient, consistent and accurate enough to survive us, the great unwashed. At which point I hope to be very happy to have the option to kick GA into touch.

Updating Meta Keywords
Thanks Thomas. I can see the Meta Keywords 2 but not the 1 for some reasons. It doesn't look like it is hurting anything so I'm going to leave it alone for now. FTP is out of my depth. Thanks for your help!

What is the best approach to handling 404 errors?
Hi Dave 404 errors will happen on website and you dont have to usually worry about them ( unless they are in alarmingly high numbers ) . You only want to worry about 301ing 404 pages when you are losing link juice with those. I would use these 3 methods to find 404s on the site Like Chris mentioned using Screaming Frog Use your Analytics Package and search for traffic landing on the 404 page Use Google Bing Webmaster Tools and see the 404 message warning ( in Crawl Stats area ) Form here you would want to 301 all valid 404 error pages to the close resembling pages ( that visitors will find useful ).
