  • You would definitely get a lot of tools with HubSpot, not to mention you could potentially add their product to your services. I've worked with Act-On, a product very similar to HubSpot, and I think you will find that you will spend a lot of time upfront learning and setting up the system. I don't think that this type of system is a solution to your 'no time' problem. I'm not saying that you shouldn't give HubSpot a try, but you won't find yourself any less busy, and there won't be any less fires to put out. It may help you appear more polished and professional, but there is a huge investment there where you could get the these results for potentially less of an investment by hiring someone to design your templates and help you implement systems.

  • Hi Paul You gave me some good advice and I have been in contact with the web design company who admitted that there server had been compromised which has affected many of there web sites sending out this spam in my direction. The list continues to grow and I know there on the case but I can also see my rankings slipping. What do I do, Hang in there or disavow ?bearing in mind there could be more sites at a later date. _Peter

  • I would just pay for it myself instead of losing the whole account. If it's not that important of an account (low points and not much branding for you personally) then I would just create my own one

  • Hi Manroop, You posted this a while ago and I wondered what you decided to do in the end and what the outcome was.  I'm interested as I, too, have been hit by Penguin. I've disvowed/removed links, but have not had any further joy - although I need to wait until the next Penguin update before deciding on next steps.  Probably changing the domain is the next step.

  • Thanks for considering Penalty Pros to assist you with your Google penalty. Whilst I obviously believe strongly in our service, we can equally vouch for Marie and her team - they do great work (and I can't say that about many...) All the best!

  • I feel you when it comes to the work load and level of interest.I'm passionate about the clothing industry and SEO so the interest is there plus I have ton of manpower behind me with what I established in the Philippines.I have 70-100 computers in two Internet Cafes in the Philippines and my SEO partner there operates our Internet Marketing team during night shift. The thing is if I just let them sit It may look like bad faith and I want to show these are simply fan sites that promote their brand and prove I'm not holding them hostage and intend to sell fakes or hurt their image.

  • Hi Bob, I'd highly recommend building out your profile on LinkedIn (if you haven't already) and then maybe even opting for the upgraded membership for a month or two. Lots and lots of SEO jobs there. Speaking from experience, the jobs posted on LinkedIn are far more "real" than jobs you'll find other places (like TheLadders). If there's a company you're particularly interested in, call them directly. I cold called the company that I currently work for, they hadn't even advertised for an SEO, and guess what? They created a position for me Nifty huh? One final suggestion, you're getting into a realm where working for an hourly wage is not really the best approach, IMHO (feel free to disagree). But, I think that if you are looking for a steady SEO job working for the same company or agency, you need to come up with your expected salary and benefits. Keep those close to your vest and don't put them on your resume. The right company will make the right offer Best of luck to you! Dana

  • Quick and Sloppy Answer: the full names probably have more SEO benefit (if any is possible) as opposed to the city initials. Better Answer: I'm not really liking the idea of creating a site with a pile of subdomains.  Are you planning on creating truly rich, full sites for each subdomain with location-specific content?  Putting something on a subdomain causes a degree of separation between each entity.  This could cause a bit of a loss for you when it comes to sharing the benefit of a link to one of the sd's or another.  For example:  batman.wordpress.com does not benefit as much from a link to wordpress.com or reallygoodsite.wordpress.com.  Of course this would be a different scenario but I still think you'd probably be better off using subdirectories ie: example.com/San-Fransisco-Real-Estate.  This ensures that there is no separation between one section and another and each benefits from links to the other. In my experience subdirectories are easier to work with technically as well. I'd rethink any situation where I was going to have to create potentially infinite subdomains and consider making sub directories with keyword-rich URLs instead if that's possible.  Do you really want to create 50 Webmaster Tools accounts and GA profiles?  I wouldn't. Good Luck!

  • An objective based resumé should be for someone just graduating or early in their career. Change that top part to be skills based. 'Bob is a fast learner' - don't talk about yourself in the third person. Don't say it's been a long time since you used PHP and MySQL. I'm sure you could brush up on it pretty quickly if you needed to. Don't include 'references available upon request'. If they want them, they'll ask for them.

  • Just to throw my two pennies worth in....guest blogging is on the radar of Google so if you are going to start writing guest blogs that have your link in the author bio at the end, be very careful! It leaves a very obvious trial that Google can use to see if you are over-doing it on the guest blogging. Instead of guest posting, why not think of the problems that people have in stock trading and reach out to finance websites/bloggers. Think of a widget that you could create that would appeal to bloggers as this could be a source of links for months. If you get short of ideas then I'd recommend buying http://www.linkbuildingbook.com/ which has been written by Paddy Moogan. Great read!

  • I'd suggest you nofollow all those links. You say "which don’t really fit the mold for “excessive link exchanging.”" but you are forgetting that each page will contain the same link, therefore creating god knows how many backlinks from ALL the pages in your site to the other sites, and the same for all the others. As an example, I had a manual link penalty applied, and when applying for a reconsideration, which was declined, the example links given by Google included a link to my business site from MY OWN personal site, something that said "I am the Owner of X" being X the link, and THAT link was one of the 3 examples in the negatory. So again, I'd suggest you nofollow all those links, and actually only doing it if the sites are really related to one another. Read the article about something that Amazon is doing and EVERYONE thinks they should be penalized for: http://www.seroundtable.com/amazon-footer-links-spam-17857.html Hope that helps!

  • 1. For increasing Domain Authority, as mentioned in my other answer this is about gaining just a few really good quality links from highly trafficked and trusted sources. This can be done more proactively through maybe outreach or trying to get a story about you done somewhere, or land an interview etc. Or it can be done more passively through exceptional content, or an exceptional brand and you will gain links as a result. 2. Outbound links don't really carry weight in the sense of authority being given to your site the way an inbound link does. Having outbound links on your site may help to a small degree with perhaps your trustworthiness in Google's eyes though. 3. That is correct.

  • Hey Apologies that your question wasn't answered sooner. I've read over all the information that you provided, watched the video, and reviewed several Advertising Policies from AdWords. I don't believe that the promotion of this video, in the way the content is presented from 00:00 to 02:09, is in violation of any policy. Political issues will forever be sensitive, but they are still political. International affairs is political in context so this would fall under the Political Advertising Policy. As I'm sure you agree, political ads aren't always accurate, positive or appreciated, but this video still fits this portion of policy. After Sandy Hook, Google created the Sensitive Issues clause that keeps advertisers without the capabilities for real aid from promoting their agenda after disasters. Unfortunately, it does not apply to this. AdWords for Video Policy states that all videos must be suitable for a Family audience. While I personally don't believe that politics is always family friendly, this clause is only purposed to cover videos of questionable sexual content. The only clause I think this could POSSIBLY, REMOTELY fit under, if not the Political Policy, would be the "Anti" and Violence Policy. This is specifically calling out one group of people who have been the brunt of a lot of racism in our country, even more so since 9/11. But, I agree with whoever it was in that AdWords Help thread that said the last seconds of this video changes the entire meaning of the message. This is a political awareness campaign and it's going to get a little ugly.

  • Thanks Alex. Wil Reynolds actually gave me a copy of Influence at MozCon this past summer and I found it completely fascinating. I read it twice. I think that one's a definite keeper. Don't Make me Think is a very amusing, smart, astute, relevant, fast and easy read, which makes it a good choice for busy people who still want to learn something. You've got me curious about Out of the Ordinary so I'm going to hop over to Amazon and check it out. I'll let you know how it all shakes out!
