Why has SEOmoz added G+ code to multiple pages?
There is no benefit to having it on every page. In talking with our Google rep they stated they just needed on our site/homepage but since sometimes they don't know what they need, it was placed on every page via our CMS. At this point we haven't seen any negative effects from it but we might try placing it only on the homepage to see if that does anything. Casey

Finding google + influencers
Yes I am, but honestly, I haven't even looked at that angle. I would like to though. Send me a private message and maybe we can work together

Paid likes?
I bought a few facebook likes and it was a waste of money. Users who "liked" my page were fake... I wasn't expecting much from these likes and I did it because I wanted to make my brand new fb page more likeable. You need to start somewhere, right? No one wants to be the first person to "like".

How to set default landing page in Facebook fan page?
The thing is that you have no option 'Default Landing Tab' that pages normally do have. You should find out why that is missing. If you do have the option, this is the way to set the landing page: 1. Go to your page and click 'Edit page' 2. Go to the 'Manage permissions' settings 3. Find the option 'Default Landing Tab' and select the page you wish in the drop down 4. Save changes

Do forums still have any SEO value?
If you have the time to run a forum, go for it. If not, then find someone who will or don't do it at all. Also, a more important question would be, what is the purpose of starting a forum? I don' t know what FB's paugin has to do with a forum. Are you trying to get registrations and or subscriptions? Are you trying to create backlinks from the forum to your own site like people do when they try pointing links from their blogs to their homepage hoping it will rank higher?

Seeking feedback from the community here on a new project of mine
Thanks for the feedback, I edited the url out. That said, the site offers a link exchange where it seems they link to everything under the sun and visa versa. The content itself seems very thin and yet google has them showing #2 or so in the serps. As for the inbound links, some are relavent, but many not. Why wouldn't google see through something like this. As an aside EGOL, I have ready many of your responses to others post and I appreciate your level of knowledge on such things and thanks for the feedback. I want to compete, but I want to do it the "right way" or "honest way" if there is such a thing. Steven

SEO Moz Page authority and Domain authority do not correllate wih SERPS
Google has 200+ ranking signals, it would depend on the niche in my opinion.

Is it ok to have 'Authors' that write content for multiple sites even if in the same industry?
Thanks for the reply Alan. Yeah, that does make sense. I'll see how it plays out and I'll write a YouMOZ post later in the year.

How long until Social Spam achieves the same notoriety/problem as Link Spam used to be
Maybe they will analyse how many links are put into social posts? If someone just posts with links in them it will treat them as spam. Also I think search will look into sharing how many times something is shared/re-shared/re-tweeted etc? It's a numbers game as Dr Pete said is his last video you have to try and stay ahead as google made 600+ changes to search last year....

What would you do?
Awesome feedback Keri, thank you! We're getting serious about capturing experts' knowledge in video format for future engineers in the plastics industry, so everything we can do to make it top notch is a good thing. Investing in microphone and production software and training is inexpensive, with big returns. Your husband gets an A+. We'll be adding a note to the top of each webinar page that allows our users to suggest topics with an open-ended text box. Earlier this week we sent an email to our users asking for topics - a screenshot of the landing page is below, so we will update our signup page to reflect. Again, A+ for Mr. Morgret! LinkedIn is perhaps the most widely adopted social site for the plastics industry so far. There are quite a few groups and we have a group with about 1400 members that ask design and processing questions. From time to time we comb LI to answer questions, but as EGOL pointed out, having a small staff makes it difficult to do this. Perhaps having some sort of automated monitor for keywords that could notify us of certain topics would be the way to go - maybe Google Alerts, unless you have other ideas. Thanks again! webinars-signup.jpg

Does a 301 redirect pass along Google +1's from the old url to the new one?
In my experience 301s will currently mess up your Google +1 Counts, Facebook Like count, Tweets, LinkedIn shares. Typically both myself and clients have learned about this the hard way, after the URL is changed and 301 is redirected. I have tried to research whether the effect is passed along but have not seen a conclusive answer. This Google Webmaster Central thread from August 2011 has more information on the subject and is worth reading: How does Google treat +1 against robots.txt, meta noindex or redirected URL: There is a response from a Google Employee that states: "Hi, The +1 Button interacts with robots.txt and other crawler directives in an interesting way. Since +1's can only be applied to public pages, we may visit your page at the time the +1 Button is clicked to verify that it is indeed public. This check ignores crawler directives. This does not, however, impact the behavior of Google web search crawlers and how they interact with your robots.txt file. The other issue you mention, of redirecting pages, can be resolved using link rel="canonical" elements on your pages. Cheers, Jenny" Her answer seems to point towards some sort of "credit" getting passed along when you use rel="canonical", but that's just my interpretation of what she says.

Youtube and twitter
Thanks guys! Just for clarity, I didn't necessarily mean the SERP's as much as I did Youtube or Twitter search. I created business profiles for each and neither was showing up in either Twitter or the Youtube search engine. The good news is that the business profile is now showing up this morning in Youtube search! YAY...I have a few clips made that I can start slowly adding to drip some good content into the profile. The Twitter profile is not showing up just yet but their are over a dozen followers in a day a half after I followed some good people. Thanks again!

Google+ and Google Search Plus Your World. Are the results served actually the best results?
For now, I don't see any changes needed to traditional linking methods. Most people who are not marketers probably are going to be slow to use Google Plus, since they've already invested their time into Facebook. You should always be building links to your site as if search engines didn't exist anyways - that's just a good practice for link building. You should be getting links on topical sites where your target audience already is. Even if Google Plus does somehow get anywhere near the amount of users as Facebook, I just think the privacy issues and monopoly issues will surface. That will force Google to ease up on the forced exposure of their own products in order to make it look like they are being fair in the eyes of the Government. But, stranger things have happened!

Facebook Admins
Yup totally agree. The only thing I would add is that if your page is deleted you do have 14 days to reclaim it before its actually gone for good.

What are people's opinions of Quora for SEM?
Yeah I suppose this question is now quite academic since G+ has launched search plus your world.

Can you set up a Google 'author' for rich snippets using a G+ business page or does it have to be a personal profile?
You'll want to use Rel="publisher" for this situation, pointing back towards the client's Google+ business page. Install it: http://www.thoughtsfromgeeks.com/resources/2792-Rel-Publisher-meta-tag-Syntax-Use.aspx Then test it with the snippet tester: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets Won't necessarily have the same effect as rel="author" on snippets at this point, but it's the best analogue if you need to use a business page.
