Also, do you guys think there's still SEO value to having a Google Plus page in general? Is it worth it?

Hi All!

We are in the process of migrating to Drupal and I know that I want to block any instance of /node/ URLs with my robots.txt file to prevent search engines from indexing them.

My question is, should we set 301 redirects on the /node/ versions of the URLs to redirect to their corresponding "clean" URL, or should the robots.txt blocking and canonical link element be enough?

My gut tells me to ask for the 301 redirects, but I just want to hear additional opinions.

Do any of you have recommendations on basic social analytics software? We are looking for something that's not to expensive, that's easy to use, and measures the basic stuff, hashtag mentions, tweets, likes, etc.

nope, those raw files exist. They don't want to share them with the public. Legally is the only answer I got...I think it has to do in part with them being afraid of people trying to download the videos.

Just like any other piece of duplicate content, you can use canonical link elements to specify the original piece of content (if there's indeed more than one identical piece). You could also block these types of files in the robots.txt, or use noindex-follow meta tags.

Honestly, the best suggestion I have for you is to do some keyword research and get a sense of how your target audience is searching for the content you have. I think that will be the most useful way of doing it. Also, assess if there's some overlap on the content you have. Would you be duplicating content if you talk about "helicopter fuels" and "airplane fuels"?

Hi Corey!

Since they are so similar and basically just variations of the same keyword, I would say to stick to one page. What you can do is research which variation has the highest search volume and use that on the title tag. You can then make sure to use that same variation on the H1(on-page title), then you can use a couple of the variations throughout the actual on-page text (don't over do it...). Also, if you have an image, make sure to use one of the variations as the alt text...Lastly share it socially, and work on some inbound links using the variations above as anchor text.
