Site´s Architecture - Categories . What´s the best in my case?
Pablo - Yes, it would be better to have all of your domain authority under one main domain name, instead of spreading it thinly using subdomains. Thanks, -- Jeff

Best way for getting rid of dubious backlinks
You can try to contact the website owner to see if they will remove those links. However, spam websites will never do so. What you can do is disavow the links, not just the domain. Finding the exact links you're listed on and disavowing those is the proper way to clear those links. Also, using Google Webmaster tools is a great way to find out if you have been penalized for something in regards to your website.

Landing Pages are Constantly Fluctuating in Rankings - Is There a Reason Why?
Definitely get some quality links to that page, and make sure that your content is helpful, unique and engaging. Try not to make so many changes so fast. Give your page time to even out after make changes. If you do too much to fast it will be hard to pinpoint what is working and what isn't. Start with the content, then the meta data, then the links. Sharing the page through social will help too.

On-Page Markup: Still a Worthwhile Practice?
If you think about the original use of bold/italicized text, it was to emphasize certain words/phrases/concepts to readers. Search engines would then use the markup as an indicator of what the most important concepts were on the page, and what search queries the page would make the most sense to rank for. Then came SEOs who overused the once-valid editorial tactic to manipulate search engine algos & rankings. The same thing happened with linking - the original purpose was to help users navigate from page to relevant page, but SEOs went overboard focusing too heavily on rankings & links (spam/black hat SEO) and not enough on user experience. All 3 of these tactics are now scrutinized via specific content & link quality algorithms. I do not recommend bolding, italicizing, or even linking 'just for SEO.' However, if bolding/italicizing certain parts of text will benefit the reader (helping them better understand your point) or if linking to other pages on your site would provide the visitor with more relevant/useful information that will help with their purchasing decision, then by all means, add the markup. In general, I try not to do anything "**just for SEO" **;) Always ask whether or not a tactic would benefit the user - more often than not, user-friendly efforts will also be search-friendly.

Is there a way to pull historical rankings for a keyword?
SpyFu (paid version) can do this rather nicely. Not every keyword, but it can give you the Google rankings of a site against an assortment of keywords going back for at least a year. You can enter custom keywords and it will give you the data if it has it. It seems to not work on obscure, low volume keywords, which is to be expected. If it comes back empty, it means that either it doesn't have the data for that keyword, or the ranking was 51+. Don't use it for branded keywords, for example, if your company is ABC Enterprises and you check that keyword, it will likely come back empty. Don't assume ABC Enterprises did not rank for it's own name, but rather, that the search frequency is too low for SpyFu to include it in its automatic data collection process. Google Webmaster Tools gives historical keyword data but it only goes back 90 days.

Software to indicate search volumes/trends
Definitely check out our Keyword Difficulty tool. It uses Bing's API to track keyword volume. When I've done this type of research, I've used a mix of metrics: keyword difficulty, Google trends, Adwords, etc., to figure out estimated volume.

Atom, RSS Feed or XML Sitemap which is better?
In my experience XML is really the best practice. You can have more than one site map technically, but you should always have an XML version.

Satisfaction survey on Google search results
I have to amend my answer--I have now seen a survey. It was for a Google Maps search. First they asked what I was using Google Maps for, and then they asked about my satisfaction with the results.

How do I control the "link-tree" part of the SERP results?
Hi Daniel, These are known as Sitelinks. Please read this page: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/47334?hl=en Point to note here is that you can demote up to 100 URLs, and demotions are effective for 90 days from your most recent visit to the Sitelinks page in Webmaster Tools. Regards

Ranking Well in Google But Not Bing - Why?
My company gets a ton more traffic from Bing than Google. I have found (could be a coincidence) that I get far more conversions and technical support questions from Bing as well. I have lost some rankings in Bing because of the changes I have made to my site to keep up with best practice for Google. However strange it might sound, I haven't suffered any traffic or conversions from the loss of rankings in Bing. Do you ever use your Bing Webmaster Tools? They are a little less insightful than GWT, but BWT does offer some insight to help your rankings. I would start there first. Good Luck!

Penguin 3.0 Site Dropped after Update
Hi Adam, I recently experienced a rankings drop after P3, and here's some of the things I did to correct the problems. Before proceeding, I know that everyone says that Google must re-run Penguin to see any changes. However, from my experience, that depends on the way Penguin affected you. If P3 penalized you by completely removing your site, then you're probably not going to see any recovery until Google re-runs Penguin. On the other hand, if you experienced a rankings demotions, as we both did, then you can take steps to fix it and will see results without Google re-running Penguin. Obviously, this is an area of HUGE speculation. I know it seems like Google has stated that a Penguin penalty requires that Google re-run Penguin to see that penalty lifted. However, the Penguin algorithm is just one part of Google's algo, so it only accounts for a portion of what Google considers when deciding where to rank your site for a given keyword. Further, I'm not focused on a P3 penalty, but rather a demotion. A demotion does not necessarily mean a penalty, but instead could indicate (1) links to your site were de-valued, thereby hurting your rankings, or (2) your competition cleaned up their link profiles and were rewarded, thereby allowing them to outrank you. Regardless, here's what I did and I hope this helps you. 1. I used CognitiveSEO to go through my link profile. There are other similar tools out there, but I like this one. 2. After going through my link profile, I uploaded a disavow file to GWT. If previously disavowed links are still showing in your GWT, don't worry. They will still show in GWT, but will be marked as "no-follow." 3. Carefully go through your entire site. Ask yourself, "Is this a good user experience?" Be honest with yourself on this point. Is the content good/useful/informative? Is the site nicely laid out? Does the site inspire trust? In short, make it a great site. 4. Internal linking - huge area of opportunity. I would say carefully go through each page and ask yourself how to improve the user experience by internal linking. 5. Promote via social media. Also, carefully study your competition to understand how they are promoting their sites. I know this may sound cheesy, but I really believe that Rand is correct when he tells us to "be awesome." If you make a great website and promote it, people will not only come to the site, but also come back to the site. Repeat business is everything. Although I'm certain I experienced the same panic/stress/anxiety you did when you saw your rankings drop, I realized there was nothing I could except really focus on making a better site: content, U/X, conversion driven design, download speeds, social media, and a link profile that I wouldn't be ashamed of. I believe that if you do those things, you'll see an improvement in rankings. I hope that helps.

Penguin 3.0
Thanks for the feedback. I'm happy to see that my site benefitted from Google refining P3 or that a Panda refresh potentially helped rankings. Either way, it was a great learning experience that resulted in me improving the back link profile while improving the onsite user experience. Thank you again for all your feedback.

Google Index
Hi Chris, It really depends on the authority of your Web site, but usually a couple of days will cut it. Although it could be that these pages still won't be indexed at that point when Google finds the quality of these pages too low.

Recent Algorithm Update Impact on Rankings
Hey Juice, I had the same thing happen on a very well optimized site with great backlinks. I found that I had 2046 links from m(dot)biz linking to me that did not show in any tools but did show in GWT inbound links. These were all do-follow with the title tag as the anchor text. and about a third of them popped up right before the algo change. I have disavowed them, and waiting to see if I get the change in rankings back like before. I wanted to see if you have found a different issue or if you might have also been link spammed by a similar site. Dogfish

Domain Extensions
There has been a lot of discussion about the different extensions lately, here are two that I have been in on http://moz.com/community/q/i-have-to-change-my-site-s-name-and-domain-is-using-ninja-going-to-be-a-huge-pitfall http://moz.com/community/q/london-and-long-terms-value-of-tlds Personally I would not launch a site with them, it is unclear how search engines are going to handle them. There is too much user training to get them to use them currently as well. Buying them, for the cheap cost and the insurance of having them, sure, why not. But I would not do much with them. Maybe a static site with a contact form for the time being.

Strange Google SERP Layout: Anyone?
My response was pretty delayed on this one. No, I don't sync my phone with anything. Granted, I have my email accounts connected - but I'm too paranoid to sync it my machines. Anything with that many certificates, out of the box, isn't getting that kind of access. It's been months and it hasn't happened again. The Googles just probably crossed my internet tubes for a second.

Anyone else see a redundant hostnames message in GA this morning?
Thanks. We made sure a 301 redirect is in place but the error is still there. It's been days now. I'm not sure what else to do.

Page 1 all of a sudden for two clients
Its guesswork, I've seen algo updates raise client's website traffic and it sticks - other times it drops back after a week or two. One of the recent patents purchased by Google was essentially to be able to change a websites' serp rank seemingly at random - specifically with SEOs in mind. Speculation says it's to possibly see how the SEO responds to the change - I would assume this is not the case and it's just minor updates that are jumping your ranks. I'd consider it a bonus for being awesome but since it jumped up I would not be surprised if it fell back down - also for no particular reason.
