Navigation
When optimizing the navigation of your site it is best to consider the strength of the site at the same time. If you have a powerful site it is possible that you could put MORE links in the navigation in an effort to expand the reach of your site. Anyone who is dominating their keywords should be able to expand navigation and not contract it - no matter how big it currently is. (If I owned walmart.com I would be comfortable adding more links to the flyout nav - they are getting more powerful in the SERPs. Amazon has been there for ages - they are very hard to defeat in the SERPs - but authority is responsible for much of that and not their linkage IMO) If you have a weak site that is being defeated everywhere then the best action for you is to get working on the strength of your site. At this point you should have a navigation that makes sense to the visitor. I cannot figure out how large sites cope with this. As far as I can tell they are using side nav that disappears after selecting a category of item in which the navigation is replaced with filtering tools I think that they simply have different left navs for different categories and subcategories of the site. On my sites we solve this with server-side includes... with wordpress you can do it with php... and you can also do it with custom programming that rewrites includes or the nav section of entire websites. Is there a way to find out exactly what they are doing because I am trying to explain this to our IT person and I just get a response that our site is fine how it is and these navigation links don't affect anything...even though each page starts off with the same 100 follow links of navigation. lol..... I think that you need to teach your IT person about SEO and your IT person needs to teach you about how websites work. Or... maybe better, I would recommend hiring an SEO to solve both of your knowledge gaps. You both need to know a lot more to run a competitive website. If you have an IT person who will not accommodate your efforts to improve the SEO of your site then one of you needs to be looking for a new job.

Does Google crawl the pages which are generated via the site's search box queries?
Google crawls the pages. Google sometimes even tries the search box by typing in a random word to see what happens. Have a look at this url: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Agoogle.com%20inurl%3A%22search%3Fq%22 You'll see that search queries have been indexed. It happens if people link to it. It doesn't matter that the url is "non existent". It actually is, because it doesn't display a 404 error or any other error. It gives a 200 OK code, so search engines see it as a normal page. Google will probably not index a page it "makes" by filling in a random search term, but will index such a page when it is linked to.

How long does a Google penalty last if you have fixed the problem??
So do you say if I got penalty by Google then they must mail me about why I got penalty. If none mail comes then it's not a penalty.

Keyword Self-Cannibalization
Great resources, thanks for sharing these and your opinion too. It certainly seems to be an area of SEO where a period of testing is going to be required to get the best fit for us.

URL Shorteners. Are they SEO Friendly?
I can understand why shorteners are handy for twitter where the number of characters available is very limited. Beyond that I don't use these shorteners. Why redirect anything unnecessarily. It risks a drop in anchor text value and linkvalue. Also, some people hesitate to click shortened URLs because they could be hiding a nasty destination. I am not using them.. no way.

Anybody know good SEO success stories in the field of small business directories?
Hi, I think i wrote "one month" it is actually 6 months. We did detailed keyword research & competitor analysis and we can say with confidence that we are only getting 0.1% of traffic volume. So scope is surely there. My question is "Are there any small but great(in SEO terms) business directories we can get inspiration from?"

Any advice for setting up a Job Board?
Hi Juller If it's a large diverse company, the website will receive a lot of visits from Brand searches and a lot of Direct visits. Ensure that the new job board can be easily found from key pages within the website, especially the Homepage and the About page. Many prospective candidates will arrive there and then navigate their way to the job board rather than landing straight on it from a search on eg. electrical engineering jobs in california. Your URL structure suggestion seems logical by the way, is still good to at least get it setup well for search, which it looks like you will do. The Title, Description and H1 tag will be important to optimize for key job search terms within each job vacancy that gets posted there. Hope that helps, Regards Simon

I can not tell you, it would be hard to test http://perthseocompany.com.au/seo/reports/violation/the-page-contains-unnecessary-redirects

Best way to preserve site authority / juice when moving a property to Facebook?
Totally valid question. In this case, it's a matter of the content chasing the users and accepting that for the type of content I'm offering, the average user would likely prefer to stay inside of FB. But, as you point out, it's absolutely a non-zero risk, and domain juice is where I'm starting the risk-assessment process :).

Is there any correlation to time and search ranking?
Sorry my mis-understanding, you will need to do somthing about your 301 problem. you need to look into a .htaccess file

Search Engine Blocked by robots.txt for Dynamic URLs
It's a warning, not an error. It means "hey, make sure that you really want this stuff blocked" not "you made a mistake". And yes, you really do want those annoying osCsid parameters blocked!
