  • It may correct itself but I'd redirect and then tell Google what the primary market is for the site (US, Canadian, etc) via Google Webmaster Tools.

  • I think you're right. Again, thanks for the well-informed response. I will take a lot of what you have just said into consideration. I also side with you about the duplicate issues. I may be a bit cynical here, but I have always found it hard to believe that Google will ever give us the complete truth.

  • Your homepage is probably less relevant than this interior page. Using your homepage is a short-term strategy. Using the interior page is a longer-term strategy but probably better if your site will have many keyword topics. I would do on-page optimization for the homepage.  And put full effort into the interior. That is generic advice.

  • Can you give out some more details of your situation? I think most of us think of Google's explanation of a bridge page at http://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=190435 when we hear that term, so having a 302 is a bit confusing.

  • Does the URL redirect in the browser, or are you still needing to get the redirect itself set up correctly?

  • Daniel, Did these responses answer your question? I'd also add that even with different IPs, you can still easily tip off the search engines to networks of sites, such as by using the same Google Analytics account. Check out http://spyonweb.com/ and see if it identifies that these blogs are linked.

  • Well, yes, it makes sense that perhaps they would have a reason to give a boost to a site that could earn revenue for them. But I believe at this point it remains speculation.

  • If those pages listed in the footer are really important then I would feature them on the homepage with a nice juicy image and enthusiastic description. Nobody looks at links in the footer.  If these pages merit attention then give it to them properly.

  • Samuel theres no limit to how many keywords you can optimize one page for, but it becomes increasingly more difficult as you only have so much space in your Title and Description. I wouldn't say it's "best practice" to optimize one keyword per page, it's just easier from an on site perspective. However, it's often not easier from an off site (linking) perspective, . I'd suggest that you start optimizing the keyword on your home page and then, if the keyword warrants it, work harder to get the secondary page going.

  • Agreed. You should pretty much always focus on exact match for SEO. The best thing to do is to create unique content for both. If you have a blog, those could both easily be two different blog posts. Or if you have a product page only, then put one of those words on your product or category page and the other phrase on your blog pointing back to your category page, since it is relevant and legitimate to do so for both your customers/visitors and search engines.

  • Most likely it will not provide value, but to be sure, check the "source code" of the site and see how the code is being generated on other banners in the same position. Look for the actual URL of those sites in a static reference. But overall, my feeling is that banner ads won't really help. You mainly will want text ads with your "anchor text" pointing back to your specified URL from a quality, content-related site.
