  • If you search for "Search Engine Optimization", you get SEO highlighted in SERP. But it doesnt seem to work the other way around ... And yes! It is easier to rank high on a keyword that is in your domain-name. I cant imagine anywhere better to find information in my language on Paris than on www.paris.dk.

  • what type of quotes are they, is it breifs for speicifc jobs and if the word count then I would split it out over a 6 month process on a weekly basis. Recently we had a client who had internal newsletter content which had never gone on-line we have gone with an above strategy which has worked quite well. I wouldn't put it on a new domain imo, only if you are worried about the quality, best place would be on a sub folder.

  • That's a great question and I really don't know the answer.... How would i find out?  My site is still indexed, its just ranking very poorly for the keywords that most of these links used as anchor text....

  • While we don't know the exact math, I think the existence of two PR measures (internal and Toolbar) is pretty much established fact at this point. TBPR is a simplification of a much more continuous PR scale and is almost definitely non-linear. The difference between TBPR 6 vs. 7 is MUCH greater than the difference between TBPR 1 vs. 2, for example.

  • hey no problem. Sounds like it's just gonna be a matter of beating those guys then. They may have lots of rubbish links, but, chances are, these links are not the reason they are beating you. Even blog comment-spammers will occasionally stumble across a gold mine. Under all the messy links they probably have a handful of good ones that are doing all the work. 80/20 and all that.

  • Hi, Are your pages manually driven or created out a database system? If they are in a database of some kind, you should be able to query for the URLs and generate the XML sitemap. If they aren't able to generate the sitemap to /sitemap.xml file, make sure you put the URL of the sitemap on your robots.txt file. (For example, if the sitemap ends up being sitemap.php instead.) If they aren't database driven pages or if you developers aren't able to create an XML sitemap for you, I'd recommend this service: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/standalone-google-sitemap-generator.html You can setup a scheduled job on your server to run this on whatever schedule you want. I've used it on a number of client sites where the data drive XML sitemap isn't an option. Hope that helps.

  • Nice little thread here, read all of it :). I would be inclined to attach a signup form for a newsletter as the content is good. Then I would include the latest informative article, tutorial in the newsletter connected with car accessories, link to facebook, plus 1, twitter page. First to get some social engagement which in turn should help out with SEO but then an added benefit of flogging some accessories (although you would need to sell a lot of smelly trees to make anything) but you get the idea, I would site down and draw it out, give it some serious thought.

  • I can say that they read all, well at least in a case where i have done so. but if you are using some fo the plugin around, then look out. Many of these plug ins use text-indent: -99999 , this is confored as a spam signal by Googles Maile Ohye. It is worth noting that many CMS sites use this tacktic un-known to the user.

  • Thanks for the replies. A little more info, previously both domains have been used for various projects in the fashion niche. One used to be a blog and the other a fashion article site, however neither of these projects were bring in a decent ROI so am working on launching a store on them. It will be a mixture between unique products and affiliate based product imports. In terms of back links, to be honest, while both domains have fashion related backlinks they are most either on blog or article keywords or just using the domain name as anchor text so there is little benefit to be gained from them in ranking for terms such as 'dresses' 'trousers' etc thanks.

  • If you looking for good, rather than cheap,  I would recommend Rackspace.  Went though a whole bunch of providers before them, and I haven't looked back.
