A hotel brand dominating serps? Seems near impossible with all the clout OTA's have. How do you guys pull it off?

Original Site content was used for submission to article directories
Thanks to both of you for answering. I was thinking that would give an opportunity to write the pages better, but they were carefully written originally by myself. Also, the content doesn't link directly to my site, but there are free blog sites that are linked via UAW crappy links.

Link Building Post Penguin?
In our industry we have noticed a lot of competitors have been creating info sites and plugging them with content, then linking back to the site they want to push higher in rankings. You are really lucky that these guys are not so smart. When they build an info site with a store you better start prayin'.

To noindex or not to noindex
1. yes - if you no index all but 20 pages, those 20 pages would get a boost in rankings. You would end up losing the long tail searches from those other thousands of page - so you'll need to do some cost / benefit analysis on that. 2. you'll need to do a cost / benefit analysis on this one. Are most of the visitors to your site searching in Chinese or English? Are your search terms mainly in Chinese or mainly in English? Are your Chinese speaking visitors more likely to want to visit the .zh subdomain? You could publish 20 to 50 pages on each subdomain, and then focus on doing some link building. If you have strong rankings across those 40 to 100 pages, then you could start adding more pages slowly over time.

Google SERPs do not display "cached"
Not a direct answer, but an extension for Firefox that I love called Resurrect Pages (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/resurrect-pages/) lets you click on a link, or right click on a page, and get the Google cache, look up the page on the Internet Archive, and go to a few other cache locations.

Sitemaps and subdomains
We just submitted a new sitemap to google for our new rails app - http://www.thesquarefoot.com/sitemap.xml Which has over 1,400 pages, however Google is only seeing 114. About 1,200 are in the listings folder / 250 blog posts / and 15 landing pages. Any help would be appreciated! Aron sitemap.xml sitemap.png

Aggregators outranking me for my own content
Hey Russ, you're right and this is something we're working on. For years it was standard in our industry to trade links with specific keywords in them, not for seo purposes, but for traffic. With the recent algo changes, this method has backfired on us. I'm working on cleaning everything up. Quick question : What tool are you using in that screenshot? Cheers

Subdomain and domain authority
Thank you, Marcus. That was my initial thinking as well, but I've been hung up on how the existing domain authority and inbound links to the blog -- which is currently on its own domain -- will impact the main site's domain authority if we move it to a subdomain or to a folder of the main site. Since the blog has solid domain authority now, and many quality inbound links, will my main site suffer when all of those now-external links from the blog become internal links, or will it benefit from the external links that once pointed to the blog on its own domain? About 12% of the blog's traffic comes from the main site, whereas 1.5% of the main site's traffic comes from the blog. So I could assume that the main site would benefit from the link juice of all of those new inbound links -- right? Put another way, if we combine content from two sites having a 10 point difference in domain authority, do you think the resulting domain authority will go up or down?

Crawling error or somthing else that male my page unvisible ( Simple problem, no solved yet )
thanks marcus, but what made me move the page was was an attempt to improve ranking for that keyword ( in fact having the exact keyword in url should be a benefit ), but if this casue that now i can't work on the link building becouse i'm not sure to be indexed with the new page i'd better come back to the previous situation, isn't it? maybe is faster.... I keep getting inbound links from related sites with high value by asking to be linked with an anchor text with the exact keyword inside.... my aim is to rank first not to create a new site.... my competitor who is now ranked first has lower domain authority but a domain with the keyord inside: turra.poltronafraubrescia.it; the second competitor instead is ( poltronafraubrescia.com ) and now has the second position on google. p.s. ( the only flagship sotre of frau located in brescia is it our, they are simply reseller, and the two domain in the first and second position belong to the same reseller ) thank you very much for the hel that you gave to me... I'm looking forward to getting your answer guido

Virtual Domains and Duplicate Content
Sadly I can't say for sure what the outcome will be given that it's mixed signals. There's honestly no way to know in advance what would happen either short term or over time as Google attempts to sort it out via other signals and cross-referencing factors.

Category Content Duplication
Categories are your primary keyword topics - the primary topical focus grouping of your blog. They should be the umbrellas that contain underneath them, any articles closely related to those highest level topics. Think of blog categories as the equivalent of main services pages or main product categories in an eCommerce catalog. In order to build authority and trust for a category topic, you need to build depth of content over time under each umbrella. Indexing category archives is the best method for having search engines recognize that depth of content. As such, it's vital to allow these to be indexed. Simultaneously, it's unwise to allow indexing of date based archives because those are going to create potential duplicate content conflicts, either partial or entire duplicate representations.

Website disappears from SE on a daily basis - comes back fine.
ok, apols for assuming name - just took it from user name and products. Will have a think and reply if anything comes to mind. There are some gurus on here who will be to the rescue soon no doubt!
