Changing content in a well established page.
If I were you I'll try to create a new page/post focusing on that term, bes ure that the page is linked from the most realted one and see what happens. If you see that page ranking you're done. If not try to build some value there and if you're still not ranking you may always try to 301 that page to the old ranking one, maybe passing that value to it you'll achieve to rank with that too even without changing it. Of course before the 301 and any other thing you'll have to try achieving links there, if not you won't see much changes.

Changeing Hyperlinks from Do Follow to Do Not Follow
Hi Giantuca, Thanks a lot for your reply. I understand now. When I was asked to change that back link to no follow I thought there was some problem with my website in fact. My blog is tripsetc.com/blog and has not been penalized by any search engine so as it was the first time I encounter that situation i was puzzled. Thanks again. BTW Noticed you live in Valencia an Awesome city with a good Soccer team. Best Regards. Sherif

How to do geo targeting for domain and sub directories in Webmaster tool?
Actually what you are asking is quite easy. First of all you must create as many GWT profiles as are the subfolders you want to geotarget. When those profiles have been created, you must go to "Configuration/Settings" and choose the country you want the subfolder to geotarget. in the case you want the main root of your domain to target "all the world", then I suggest you to implement the rel="alternate" hreflang mark-up, in order to not having the "global" version of the site (or any other version with a strong link profile), outranking the other versions of your own site.

How to identify 404 that get links from external sites (but not search engines)?
Hi Robert, thanks a lot. So I will not take action to get 404s out of google index. Regarding your first point, I am not sure I understand how screaming frog would help. I did not use screaming frog yet but link sleuth for status code checks. The status check of 404 in google webmaster tools will probably generally also give 404 status in screaming frog. My objective is to identify among these thousands of 404, the few which are caused by inaccurate or outdated links on external websites so that I can create a 301 for these. Best, Daniel

Any ideas, what i'm doing wrong?
Hi, Thank-you, yes the book has been a big project, can't wait for the launch! Thanks also for taking the time to research this. I have just used open site explorer, it is confusing as it states my page authority is 40, whilst the nearest competitor is 28. I need to build links but I am not sure that leaving comments on blogs is helping. One thought I have had is to create a gallery with linked images to other websites that have images with me or my food. Do you think this might be give a big boost? Thanks, T23

Is this misuse of scheme data?
Thanks for the insighful responses. I need to clarify one point. They are not aggregating reviews from around the web. Instead they have business profiles which include reviews. Instead of the business' profile page using the mark up, the directory page that lists each of the businesses uses the mark up. So if there are 50 businesses in a category with 1 review each, the category page shows up in SERPs with 50 reviews. This would affect CTRs as you pointed out. Is this considered manipulation?

Google Trends - API? Anyone Using This Data?
You're right, there is no API to access trends data which is a damn shame. I did find this: A python script which returns google suggest data along with the number of times it was searched. (Does not provide a time period though). If this doesn't work, could you use the AdWords Traffic Estimator API to get the data you're looking for?

Micro sites?
The reason why would be for multiple 1st page positions in the serps for the same keyword phrases. Most sites are not lucky enough to get rewarded with host crowding positions (your same domain ranking multiple times on the first page) but if you have microsites that you are able to get ranked now you have several first page positions. If you are addressing different targets, this can be accomplished probably easier with your main, established already trusted site. Google is addressing exact match domains as a ranking factor for exact reason. Microsites are spammy and grey hat and outside of Google's webmaster guidelines if addressing the same targets.

Magento Faceted Navigation Extension
Hello Darrell, A combination of http://amasty.com/improved-navigation.html and some robots.txt disallow statements should handle this. Although they aren't doing it, we'll use Zumiez as an example since they have layered navigation on a Magento site. If you want to allow one level of facets deep, but block additional levels here is what you would put in the robots.txt file: disallow: /accessories/watches.html?=&* That "should" allow this URL to be indexed: http://www.zumiez.com/accessories/watches.html?brand=g-shock While blocking this one and all others beyond the first facet: http://www.zumiez.com/accessories/watches.html?watch-band=plastic&brand=g-shock&d=4294966838,4294964051 Using wildcards in the robots.txt file can be tricky though, so you may also want to look into this solution: http://www.mageworx.com/seo-suite-ultimate-magento-extension.html . It has a feature that allows you to adjust the robots meta tag (i.e. follow, nofollow, index, noindex) by parameter. Good luck!

Sites interlinked - how much changes to make at one time
Do you think the client would be harmed at all by removing all of the footer interlinking altogether?

URL language on Global Sites
I've seen this once - but it wasn't a test or anything - a lot of uncontrolled variables makes it hard to say it was the link or not. But, we changed and improved. We had site.com/es/word. When we changed it to site.com/es/palabra and it started ranking much higher. My guess would be that through co-citation and such, more sites link to /palabra/ type links than they do to English words. Perhaps the same has happened to you?

HTTP Status Bad Request - 404, but also, add a 400 HTTP Status in certain circumstances?
Unfortunately I don't have experience with that.

Multilingual and Multiregional SEO URL Structure
Answer to Question 2 first: I see why an SEO might have include /canada/ in it, but considering your domain is .ca and it's probably hosted in Canada (which it should be), it's not really needed unless you are also targeting /usa, /london and so on. Answer to Question 1: I'd do the language first. That way, all your fr-ca cities are in the same language folder. But then, it could totally be the other way around and /location/language. I would recommended /language/location I hope this helps.

Create a link or redirect?
That does help! I was leaning towards option A, so that partners continue to link to the videos and users will click on a video and get a video. I think I read that same article, but just didn't remember the findings. Thank you very much for posting the link. Mike
