Correct image alt-txt length
I don't think there is. Title tags and meta descriptions get cut off on the search engine results page at a certain point so that's why they have a recommended limit. As long as you don't go mad, whatever it takes to explain what is in the image. Afterall, the alt tag is there to say what the image is to people who can't see it - so just optimise from that user-friendly sense rather than thinking too much about SEO - get your keywords in if you can and if it makes sense.

Google Shopping in SERPS - What % of clicks do they get?
As you know, Google does not release their analytics data. However, I have a site that started losing a lot of traffic when google started putting the shopping blurb in the #2 position. Also another site that started losing a lot of traffic when they added the "Brands" and "Stores" lilnks above the #1 position. Perhaps the best that you can tell client is that lots of webmasters see the same thing happening.

Is a listing in this directory really worth $365/year??
A quote I enjoy...."Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true". You earned the #1 spot which is great. It sounds like your plan is to wait for someone else to step up and take your spot and then react. I prefer to be proactive but the choice is yours.

How do I effectively utilize multiple campaigns
Thanks for pointing that out. I edited the original questions, but yes I was referring to SEOmoz campaigns to audit our site and give me some good tools to help us improve. If context is helpful our site is www.rickshawbags.com

Local Seo Help!
Hi, personally I wouldn't delete the Places page. It does look a little over cooked which might be why the description is being deleted. Try to objectively look at the copy of the description - is it factual or full of keywords? You may need to rewrite it. There are people out there who can help you - have you tried http://getlisted.org/resources/trustedproviders.aspx ? Not sure what to do about the sitebuilder. If the relationship is OK, you could ask for them to request the page is removed from the directory via their webmaster tools. Good luck

Switching to a domain name with keywords in it, is it possible to make this happen smoothly?
EGOL, I agree we have been having some server issues, and were considering switching hosts. we also could do a bit of javascript and css optimization to get load times down, we aren't as optimized as we could be in that department. As for homepage v.s. subpage, we were doing it that we because we heard that was the best way to approach multiple locations in local SEO. See here: David Mihm at SMX: http://www.aimclearblog.com/2011/06/08/so-where-are-you-actionable-local-seo-tactics-from-smx-advanced/ Muti-Location Tips Implement flat site architecture, give each site own page, make it unique, indexable The title tags with full adresses was a mistake, i admit, it was a test, because i read somewhere to do it, it didn't work out, infact it backfired in our faces and in some cases our rankings droped. not in this particular case, but in others it did. We have changed it back, but we are still waiting for google to pickup on the change.

Placing video testimonials on website vs. YouTube
My memory is a bit vague here but it should put you in the right direction. When you choose to embed videos there should be an option for "play related videos" or something similar. Make sure to not select that box. It should add a parameter to the URL along the lines of "&rel=0". For advertising, if you are a YouTube partner channel, then you can disable ads on any of your videos. Otherwise, as long as you do not include any copyrighted material in your video I believe you are ok. This includes the audio track.

Thanks for the clarification Andy.

Why is here no extra section for Google Shopping
Your question also makes me realize that we don't have an area for ecommerce. It may be a bit before the categories are changed, but I will suggest both ecommerce and shopping as possible categories when that time comes.

Better to host videos locally...or from youtube/other sources?
I've always found it interesting that SEOmoz don't have a channel on YouTube so would be curious on their view for this. At Koozai we host videos on Wistia and then display those on our site. We did use Vimeo but they can ban anything promotional (even for paid accounts) so we didn't like the risk. YouTube was avoided as then people can advertise on your website via AdWords so we didn't want that. From an SEO point of view the best thing to do is to use YouTube as it's one of the most popular search engines so you'll get potential to be found on Google and by YouTube searchers.

* Google Places - "More About This Place" Section
Brant This might be your issue... Do this site search in Google: site:www.petmedicalcenter.vetsuite.com Google still has about 112 pages in its index from your old site, all with "Pet Medical Center of Las Vegas" in the title tag, and an address in the description. Maybe of these still pages from the old site are still in the cache. AND there are no 301 redirects at all pointing to your new site. So there lies the issue I think. You may want to see if it is possible to 301 redirect all the old pages to their corresponding new pages. If this is not possible technically, you need to do a domain forward to the new domain. -Dan

How come none of my images are being indexed by google.
Hi Walter, also notice that your Joomla's images/ directory is blocked by robots.txt file: http://www.mconcrete.com/robots.txt where it says: Disallow: /images/ This means that your images within the gallery would not be indexed because image path is: http://www.mconcrete.com**/images**/stories/stamped/stamped-1a.jpg You have to have that robots.txt line deleted in order to have images stored in images/ directory indexed by search engines. By default, most images in Joomla that you upload will be stored within the /images directory (media manager). Best, Ogy

Do search enginges prefer pages with mobile websites on the mobile phone?
Hello Petra, The "right" question to ask would rather be - how will this be in the (close) future - and the answer is that it will be more and more important to have mobile optimized versions. You should use a rel=canonical back to your desktop/web version though. Here's an excellent QA which hints at what I wrote above as well: http://www.seroundtable.com/single-url-mobile-seo-13521.html It's okay to redirect to a subdomain or subfolder but if you aim for the 100% you should not (it's not always possible, I know). best regards, Jan

How can we geo-target our website optimization for cities besides our physical location?
"Do not create listings at locations where the business does not physically exist. P.O. Boxes are not considered accurate physical locations. Listings submitted with P.O. Box addresses will be removed." http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?answer=107528 Yes.. I believe you recalled that correctly.

Is my Google Places page ok?
I recently read about a phenomenon called "google places purgatory" basically this is when your listings are all active and have no suspension or holds but still you cant seem to see any activity on that listing. This happened to two of my listings. Many of the suggestions were to delete the "broken" places ad and start over. Still tracking the result of this. I'll let you know if i find anything significant.
