  • Isn't that rather good, so Google knows there is a business at all. I wouldn't worry, think of all the big office towers where tens of companies have the same physical adress. So don't worry. Just make a cute little profil with a picture of their office (office-windows-anytown.jpg use microtagging etc put outgoing links to regional pages - preferably about windows or complimentary products in anytown - get some local links, get listet in the phonebook with that office adress and you will be fine. If you need s/o to have a look at your page just PM me. If this helped you, I really appreciate it if you mark the answer as answered/helpfull

  • James and Joshua, Thank you. I read the pages James refered to. The information is useful but they don't refer to the CTR for Adwords for a given position. Phil

  • We do also own the image generating site, so we could add it to our central Webmaster Tools account. It's used by a large number of other client sites. My usual preference is to verify by uploading a file. Do you know if we would have to reverify the imagesite for every other client site that uses it? The main issue is that we want the images to be indexed, and for the resulting traffic to be sent to the client site - not to the image site. Has anyone got experience in using image indexing this way with xml files, and proved that traffic does come through? cheers

  • Thanks but with regard to the proximity to the city centre if you google 'chartered accountants swansea' you will see that the 2nd google places listing 'drpaccountants' are located way out of the city centre and they have no photos, reviews etc Where as on my listing it has a 100% completed profile http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&georestrict=input_srcid:492b90c33bfcc2ab What else needs to be done apart from getting reviews?  I have added lots of local citations to the likes of Yelp, Qype, Hotfrog etc but none are showing under the listing on google places?  Also is there a reason why the description field is not being populated in the google places account? The other issue is under the dashboard it displays 0 impressions and 0 actions is this normal?

  • From the horses mouth so to speak: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/give-each-store-a-url/ If it was for a business with just a few locations, I would have a locations page with details for all on one page, neatly sectioned out, or if there's quite a few locations I would split them off onto individual pages. Also worth noting to ensure that Google Places doesn't have any duplicate listings for the locations: http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=183009 Hope that helps

  • The first thing you should take into consideration is that  The Find was one of the most penalized sites by Google's Panda update. I manage various eCommerce sites that were seeing a good amount of referral traffic from The Find. Then came Panda and we literally saw over a 98% drop in referral traffic from The Find. Recently we have experience a gradual increase but still way over 75% less traffic. As for optimizing your products I have two suggestions: 1. Remember to strategically place your most important keywords first in your product title. 2. Looks like The Find is now ALSO looking at Facebook likes and using that to determine search results.

  • When you say major sites, are you talking yelp, citysearch, etc.? With those there is no problem with getting reviews on a Dr. Name. On Google, you will even see XYZ Clinic, Dr. Smith, XYZ clinic Dr. Jones, etc. so the clinic ends up with multiple places listings by also listing the docs. Check out optometrists Houston 77006. There is a clinic called Eye Excellence and they have a site local listing with three individual optometrists listed as Eye Excellence - Dr. A, Eye Excellence Dr. B, and Eye Excellence Dr. C. Two of these even have the same phone number and all display the same photos, etc. If there are other review sites that you are speaking of, let me know.

  • Hi Dan, I had been looking into both of these tools, but UBL seemed to have prompted a fair few people to say they'd paid the listing fee but had never seen their citations appear, so I'd put that on the backburner. As for the Express Update USA, we're based in the UK - do you know of an equivalent? Cheers!

  • It's probably set in GWMT to the default geo targeting in USA. FYI - I have have excellent success with .ca sites ranking in Canada. The competition is SO much less than in the USA. It takes very little work to get a .ca domain ranked in google.ca, but then again the traffic is just not there. You say it is a Canadian company, but is it a local type business or is is global, do you ship to the US? If you ship to the US you will find a lot more business there and ranking in Google.com in the US is much more beneficial. If you do ship to the US, then I would suggest not being obvious about the fact that you are a Canadian company or people will be more hesitant to purchase from you.  But in reality a Canadian company can easily ship to the US unlike some further countries where shipping cost is much higher and time takes much longer. It all depends on your type of business.

  • [What are the] SEO benefits of linking logo to homepage? It depends on the site. Take a look at: www.vzw.com. Notice their logo in the main navigation bar? This site does not offer a "home" button. The logo link is the only link to the home page. As you navigate the site, if that logo did not exist, there would not be a reasonable way for users to return to the home page. Users would have to either use the sitemap link in the footer and select the home page, or use the Back button. From a functionality perspective, the linking logo is huge in this example. Another consideration is the flow of PageRank. The home page is often the most important page of your site. It should normally be linked to from every page of your site. Again using the verizonwireless.com site example, if that logo link did not exist the PR of the site would be highly disrupted. It is of huge importance. If you consider an average site with a "Home" navigation option, the importance is greatly diminished in comparison. The logo would simply represent a secondary link to the home page.

  • Asking for a review won't get you in any trouble, but offering some reward for a positive review may cause problems. A lot of people, myself included, will check a places ratings on services such as google places or yelp in order to decide whether or not it's worth trying out. More reviews also lead to more trust.
