  • Hi Dot, Do you mean you are looking for an individual to build and manage these citations for you? If so, I would recommend that you consider Nyagoslav Zhekov of NGSMarketing.com. He is a friend and colleague who is highly respected in our industry in the area of citation building. If you decide to get in touch with him, you are welcome to let him know that Miriam Ellis referred you. If you are trying to find something other than this, can you please explain? Thanks!

  • I'm no expert in storage but you will have to find your niche to get publicity. You may want to provide more images because in a content perspective, your posts all have lots of text and few images. Not really appealing and hard to attract a user to text versus an image of what is being discussed.

  • Hi Konstantin, Are you saying there is currently just 1 Google+ page, or 2 Google+ pages in existence. Have they both been verified? I ask this, because so many Google+ pages are currently unverified. If the one you want access to isn't verified, you can claim it and edit the details. If not, I recommend you go through the troubleshooter to report the issue, here: http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.cs Hope this helps!

  • Hi AllieMc, Yes, it sounds to me like your client is a local business owner who needs to comply with the hide-address rules, which are still applicable to the new Google+ Local. However, before he jumps into this, he has got to pick a single, local area code number to publish officially with on his website and his Google+ profile and all the citations you may be building for him. Not multiple numbers and no toll free numbers. Just one number that matches his city of location. Now, in the case of home based businesses that do not wish to publish their address anywhere on the web, there are some things you need to know. If the client is unwilling to publish his complete NAP (name, address, phone number) on his website (typically in the footer and on the contact page), then I feel this may place him a little behind the game vs. competitors who are willing to publish their NAP. The irony of this is that Google doesn't want the complete NAP in Google+ for service area businesses, but it is my belief that having it on the website can still be important. If he just can't publish it on the site, then he needs to know this may place him at a bit of a disadvantage. There have been no formal studies or whitepapers done on this. I'm speaking from intuition. The inability to include an address will also bar the client from being able to create citations in certain places. He can, however, still create some citations. Here is a great article on this topic of which directories allow you to hide your address: http://www.localvisibilitysystem.com/2012/08/13/can-you-rank-well-in-local-google-without-revealing-your-street-address-anywhere/ Other than this, just be sure that the local campaign follows Google's guidelines. One thing that service radius business owners are sometimes confused about is whether they are able to create Google+ Local pages for all of the cities they served. The answer is, of course, a resounding 'no'. Just the one listing, based on the home address, but with the address hidden. And, they need to understand that their hopes of breaking into the Local pack of results will center on their city of location - not other cities where they serve. To gain visibility for those other cities, their efforts and goals will need to be organic, rather than local, in 9 out of 10 cases. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Brian, Google will not be able to read the image,if you cannot highlight the words on the image then google will not be able to index them. However, your file name and alt attribute on the image will be indexed, as long as the page the image is on is indexable. Hope this helps.

  • I agree greatly with Miriam. But along the lines of client testimonials, a list of references that the prospect could call/email with questions about the service. It's one thing to read them, it's another to get into a dialogue with someone who has already rendered the service.

  • Hi Joan, That's a very important question. As Chammy has correctly stated, it is taboo in Local SEO for 2 or more businesses to share the same phone number. You must have a unique street address and unique local phone number for each distinct business. Failure to comply can result in a business either being turned away by Google or in Google merging the details of multiple businesses, harming their ability to rank. If you're doing Local SEO for your clients, your first task is to become thoroughly acquainted with Google's Places Quality Guidelines: http://support.google.com/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=107528 I don't normally link to my own stuff when answering questions here, but I have recently published two pieces which I believe will be very helpful to you in getting off on the right foot in offering Local SEO services to clients: The Zen of Local SEO http://www.solaswebdesign.net/wordpress/?p=1314 The Rudiments of Local SEO http://www.solaswebdesign.net/wordpress/?p=1344 Knowing the rules is essential to avoiding accidental missteps that can lead to penalties and banning. I hope you will find these resources to be really helpful!

  • Link building is definitely not passe. If you want link-building resources, check out Jon Cooper's site. Try his course out if that's your cup of tea. Lots to learn! From 30,000 ft, my process looks like this: Build something worth sharing. Make it accessible. Share it. Most effective off-site techniques? Not everything works the same for everyone. Try something and measure its results. You will learn what's effective for you that way. Hope this helps!
