  • Doesn't seem like you're going to get the response you were after (a list of sites). You might be better off doing a search of a list of profile sites that include a backlink - I know these lists exists - and then do your own research on them using OSE.

  • Hi Raymond, try one 301 a week. I don't think you should get penalized. As long as you adhere to Google's rules everything should be fine. Also make sure you have a diverse and balanced link profile of your main site. Slava

  • To add to that, what tool did you use to grab link metrics for a one week old website? Most tools have at least a little lag in determine inbound links. Your new website likely hasn't had a chance to establish the long-term, quality links that the sites for your retail stores have built during their lifetime.

  • As a follow up to this question, you need to take a look at Dr. Pete's article on the Penguin update: Penguins, Pandas, and Panic at the Zoo

  • You could also use Xenu Link Sleuth or Screaming Frog SEO.

  • No, it won't be of that much use no. Homepage PageRank ought not to be focused on too much, I've seen domains with homepage PR that are just complete garbage anyhow. Again, the same with 'dofollow' links, there's far more 'weightier' metrics to be attracted to than whether a link is followed or not. At the end of the day, it's just yet another business directory probably serving little purpose... Is anyone going to use it? Probably not. Will you get any traffic via the link? Probably not. Will you see a return on the cost? Probably not. In my view, definitely not worth looking into. Ask yourself this, what would make this website a good link prospect - if all you come up with homepage PR4 and dofollow. Then you're going about it all wrong.

  • At this point we have discontinued all content marketing programs, at least the kind you are talking about.  We still create squidoo lenses, do social bookmarking, etc. but even those practices are becoming more obsolete. The best link building blogs in my opinion belong to Ross Hudgens and Jon Cooper (PointBlankSEO). Read their posts, use what you can, and I wish you the best of luck!

  • I told Google that SEO company promised they will remove as best as they can.  I don't know how it sounds to Google.

  • We did not have an update between February 27th and yesterday. If you run reports now, you should see an update for most metrics (besides anchor text). We have a blog post about the latest update at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/mozscape-update-our-largest-index-yet-159-billion-urls

  • Hi Christoph, In today's world, I'd be very hesitant to outsource my link building to company that will guarantee a top page 1 ranking for  a moderately difficult keyword. There are so many other factors to take into consideration. I'd also stay away from a performance based model - this may encourage the link builder/SEO to try various methods to get quick results. If you suddenly shoot up in the rankings with the usage of dodgy tactics, I wouldn't be surprised if your site took an even bigger drop a short time later. Google is really cracking down on webspam and problematic tactics, and I think you need to be a bit patient and let things go naturally. Currently, I'd advocate guest blogging and other forms of organic link building. Is the site currently ranking for the term? What is the backlink status of the domain? If you pay a link builder to optimize for one term, and neglect your branded anchor text and the backlink profile of the rest of the site, you can run into serious issues with the search engines that will be harder to resolve and will take more time and money than you had originally intended to invest. Hope this helps - just to clarify, I'm all for link building and organic growth in rankings. I just think you need to take a larger approach looking at your whole site, its onpage optimization and its backlink profile.

  • Both sound risky. Either way you could end up with a lot of low quality links. If your as large as you are, I would hire a firm to work on content you can market organicaly and presurve your natural looking profile with all the unnatural links warnings going around.

  • I never used this software either, but in a one look to its website I am not really impressed… the website is more like a sales copy and seriously pushing its product to the market. By reading the product explanation that is available on their website, ‘Comment Hut Plus allows you to find WordPress blogs that Google says are related to your keyword.’ This mean the software will find you relevant wordpress blogs that you can also find by using advanced Google queries… I don’t really see anything exciting in this but as it contains only $10 so you can buy and give it a try!

  • Thanks Ross..thats what i'm thinking too. As long as the site has a solid backlink profile themselves, they are still worth it.

  • Thanks Brent, we are not asking 100's of bloggers no, we select a handful that we feel would have the most value, then send them emails asking if they would like to review product "x" We are just about to promote a product and currently have 16 of them to offer out for product reviews, however I didn't want to do that if I was going to be punished by the hand of Google!

  • Jerry, if it were me, I'd work my way through all the suggestions that Rand suggested over in a recent "White Board Friday" It might well be that the previous owner had left you more than just the links to clean up and I think this would help you out.

  • It is bad SEO, as artcile sites are worthless, but i dount you are going to get floged over it, just that the links wont count. As Kevin said, make sure you have some good links also. If a link is easy to get, it is proabably worthless.
