Removing old content
I have hundreds of books for sale on one of my websites and the product pages for these books get very few visitors per month. However, each month we make about 75 sales from these pages (with some visitors buying several different books). Think of it as 500 pages that each get 5 visitors per month with 3% of the visitors making a purchase. These sales are really easy to service, just open the shopping cart page, print a label, slip a book or two into a mailer, slap on a label. The inventory turns over about once a year and takes up very little space. We are not going to delete those pages. These are not thin content pages. We have a few hundred words of unique content per page plus standard information that includes, author, publisher, date, ISBN, etc.

Paid Guest Post Links - Value?
Hi there Ultimately, what you're trying to do is guest blog for SEO, which Google says is a no no. The reason I say this is because, above all, you're mentioning "links"; not the value that your product or viewpoint will bring to a customer. Here is how you should approach link building for your client: Look for citations / listings that are relevant to your clients industry Look for partnerships / certifications that the client may have that could include listings Look for resource / reference opportunities on how-to sites (eHow, Wikihow, Wikipedia - don't abuse this strategy) Use client data to develop case studies or whitepapers Offer authors / writers topics or stories to write that includes your data and a link to that data (keep branded) Look for charity or community sponsorship opportunities Here are some more great ideas from Backlinko. The reason I list these items above, is because while they garner links and quality ones at that, they also offer users great information about your business when and where they are looking for it. You're building links to capture audience attention, not just users. So, while guest blogging isn't a bad thing at all, I think you could stand to put a little more legwork behind it, build some great content, reach out and build relationships, and ultimately build a fantastic brand in the process. Let me know if this helps! Good luck! Patrick

Followed all on-page rules no listing for target keyword :(
My first thought is that this topic is already well-covered in a competitive vertical, and it's going to take a lot more than on-page factors to get it ranking well. Has the content earned any links? I see it's got 14 social shares, but the top articles for "moving tips" have more than 500, and a few have thousands. What are you bringing to the table with this advice that others aren't already offering? Can you organize the info in a way that's more shareable? Develop a functional checklist that someone who's moving can actually print and use? Can you pitch a news story around it to local media? Interest for "moving tips" seems to really spike in June and July, so you're well-positioned to coordinate with peak seasonal interest right now.

Is this good Blog SEO Exposure Practice?
You can also share it on LinkedIn and BeBee which are both professional sites from which you'll not only get "likes" or "thumbs up" but additional shares and webtraffic. I've also had luck with sharing pages on StumbleUpon. As long as you're tagging and categorizing correctly you should see a significant reaction on any one of these sites.

Tool to identify duplicated content on other sites
Like Deacyde I use the content in quotes in Google itself "to test if this is duplicate." But I also use a couple tools: http://www.copyscape.com/ http://www.siteliner.com/ http://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php http://www.plagspotter.com/ (undergoing a bit of renovation currently) If you wanted to build this into your own tool, PlagTracker has an API http://www.plagtracker.com/api.html (As do a few of the ones above.)

Community Discussion: Can 10x content be short-form content?
If one is creating content that is addressing to the target audience and answer their questions, clearing their confusing it’s a good content, and we have several great examples of it. Let’s say if someone is new to the SEO, Moz’s beginners guide to SEO will answer all their questions and clearing all the possible confusions that a person will have in his head with regards to SEO. To me, 10X content is something that not only answers the questions or clearing the confusions but also nurtures the reader to go a step further. For instance, if someone is looking for live chat software… the content that shows you the list of tools to choose from (with pros and cons of each tool) is a good content… it’s answering the question. But, 10X content is when you move further and tell them wherever software you use, this is how you should be using it to get the maximum out of it. This way you are not only answering the question but you are also educating them further…this according to me is a 10X content. Ideally, I think 10X content has nothing to do with the length of content. I don’t really have to give the examples of “ultimate guides” that offer nothing new to the audience. On the other hand, Rand’s post is kinda example of 10X content that actually motivate people to get out of the long-form short-form content formula… In my opinion, length of the content has nothing to do with 10X content. As far as you are answering your audience’s question, clearing their confusions and nurturing them to think and act further you are creating 10X content and you should be proud of it. I may be wrong but this is what I think about 10X content.

Content Writing - it should be for the main corporate site, blog or for social media?
I will share about my case and how my business do. 1. We have two site that is http://litextension.com/ and http://blog.litextension.com/ In each site, we set up many paths to other site. We create site blog after main site a long time. However, we focus on content on site blog, almost indexes of http://blog.litextension.com/ are higher than http://litextension.com/ . Then, we add a lot of dofollow link on site blog, which leads to the main site. They are support together. 2. We creates many satellite sites to drive traffic to main site and blog site. Of course, we use social media site maximum.

Franchise-Like Duplicate Sites
When it comes to duplicate content, Google typically compares one web page versus another web page. So, if the site does have a different company name (franchise name) and carries a different set of products or a some similar products, then it sounds as if the pages on the site won't be considered duplicates. They may be similar, but not necessarily duplicates. It would be best to make sure that each site doesn't use the same exact web design template, as well. You can run the site through Copyscape.com and Siteliner.com to identify duplicate content issues with the sites. Most good writers will be able to write the content in a way that talks about the same products or services but doesn't include the same text as other sites.

Which Plugin is this?
I am assuming they have hardcoded it themselves into their site using the same idea as the plugin does. When you said you wanted to copy it, that plugin I linked is probably the best way unless you get a developer to hard-code it for you like SEJ appears to have.

Community Discussion - Are URL profilers worth the investment in time and effort?
I've used URL profiler to for a content audit on our own site. It helped us to identify the areas of our site that needed to get cleaned up, and more importantly, which pages had thin content. It was also helpful when trying to prioritize which sections to do first. Craig's article highlights another useful way to utilize the tool, looking forward to trying it out.

New website content before or after new webdesign launch?
Hi Jozsef, The sooner you put the content online the sooner you will start ranking with it. So if the content, url and metadecriptions/ tags stay the same it wouldnt harm to just post it.

A good content calendar/organizer suggestion?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Asana yet. I've found this tool invaluable when it comes to managing multiple teams (content, development, outreach, etc.) True, it functions very similar to Trello, but I think the format is a bit more intuitive. It always seemed that my Trello calendar was always looking so cluttered... though that could be operator error

Which blog is best
I think you can try with Tumblr or Weebly. I used two types. It is quite easy and beautiful. In case, you want to use WordPress, I suggest you to migrate from BigCommerce to WooCommerce. It is a WordPress's plugin. Experts say that WooCommerce is simple, easy to control but beautiful. It is suitable for small and medium business with low budget and less technical knowledge. BigCommerce to WooCommerce migration guide: http://litextension.com/woocommerce-migration-tool/bigcommerce-to-woocommerce.html

Community Discussion - Pitches from content marketers versus publicists: any difference?
Always happy to see an EGOL response. For me the issue really is one of credulity. When regularly I am approached by those who want to put something on one of our websites or client's websites I am always struck by how blatant they are and how assumptive they try to be. These we can call content marketers, but I like EGOL's reference - they are solicitors. They are not unlike when I was in another business and had a lot of customers; regularly people would approach with the world famous ... "VALUE ADD!" We were supposed to let them market to our customers for free because there world changing product or service was so massively valuable. I think my sarcasm tells you my answer to them was the same as my answer to any content marketer, good bye. Please stop the spam. With requests to write something I am fairly cautious but do have a couple of known business or marketing blogs that I infrequently contribute to. Since they are publishing media on the web, I am fine with calling them publicists. Interesting discussion you started Felicia, Robert

Wow that is the simplest way I've ever seen to evaluate a company offering these services and I feel so dumb it didn't cross my mind.

How realistic is it to get to googles first page
Sounds like you will do fine. But as Deacyde and EGOL mention, be wary of over-doing things and getting penalized.

Best practice for Wordpress /page/2/
Thanks. That is a good idea and we are already doing it. Moz scan gave us plenty of warnings of duplicate content so I fixed it.
