We are launching a video dense website. Is there any evidence that having a .tv tld can help with video optimization? We are trying to find proof that Google looks at a .tv tld favorably for video SEO as opposed to a .tv website.

Is there any benefit of having a .tv tld instead of a .com for a video centric website?

Client has moved to secured https webpages but non secured http pages are still being indexed in Google. Is this an issue
We are currently working with a client that relaunched their website two months ago to have hypertext transfer protocol secure pages (https) across their entire site architecture. The problem is that their non secure (http) pages are still accessible and being indexed in Google.
Here are our concerns:
1. Are co-existing non secure and secure webpages (http and https) considered duplicate content?
2. If these pages are duplicate content should we use 301 redirects or rel canonicals?
3. If we go with rel canonicals, is it okay for a non secure page to have rel canonical to the secure version? Thanks for the advice.

Excellent response. Thanks Michael.

Cross Domain Rel Canonical tags vs. Rel Canonical Tags for internal webpages
Today I noticed that one of my colleagues was pointing rel canonical tags to a third party domain on a few specific pages on a client's website. This was a standard rel canonical tag that was written
Up to this point I haven't seen too many webmasters point a rel canonical to a third party domain. However after doing some reading in the Google Webmaster Tools blog I realized that cross domain rel canonicals are indeed a viable strategy to avoid duplicate content.
My question is this; should rel canonical tags be written the same way when dealing with internal duplicate content vs. external duplicate content? Would a rel=author tag be more appropriate when addressing 3rd party website duplicate content issues?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

RE: Will Google penalize a text ad if the display URL goes nowhere?
so just to be clear, this is the display URL I'm talking about not the actual destination URL. The destination URL is working fine.

Will Google penalize a text ad if the display URL goes nowhere?
Today I had a colleague ask me if Google Adwords will penalize text ads that have display URLs that land on 404 pages. I fully understand the policy that the domains in display URLs and destination URLs have to match up or Google will disapprove the text ad. However if the display url contains the proper domain (and a target keyword phrase for a file folder) will Google penalize the text ad quality score if the display URL lands on a 404? I had trouble finding specific evidence for this.

Need the proper schematic markup for a business CEO, founder and founding date
I'm trying to apply schematic markup to our client's website to help influence the knowledge graph. Can anybody give me the exact schematic markup for business CEO, founder and founding date? I've visited schema.org and know the markup exists...but I want to make sure I'm applying them properly.
Thanks!

Blog tags are creating excessive duplicate content...should we use rel canonicals or 301 redirects?
We are having an issue with our cilent's blog creating excessive duplicate content via blog tags. The duplicate webpages from tags offer absolutely no value (we can't even see the tag). Should we just 301 redirect the tagged page or use a rel canonical?

Client is paranoid about Google penguin penalty from getting links from a new website they are building
We have a client that is creating a new promotional website that consists of videos, brands and product reviews (SITE B). After a visitor watches a video on SITE B they will be given a "click to purchase" option that will lead them to the original website (SITE A).
Our client is paranoid that since all the outgoing links on the new SITE B are going to the original SITE A there might be algorithm penalty (for one website or both). I find this very unlikely and even recommend "no follow" coding for a peace of mind. However are there any resources/links out there that can back up my argument that they will be alright?
Thanks

Is it okay to copy and paste on page content into the meta description tag?
I have heard conflicting answers to this. I always figured that it was okay to selectively copy and paste on page content into the meta description tag.....especially if the onpage content is well written. How can it be duplicate content if it's pulling from the exact same page?
Does anybody have any feedback from a credible source about this?
Thanks.

Updating the Google Knowledge Graph....any hard answers on how to do this?
We are trying to update the Google Knowledge graph for one our clients. We would like to have company founding date, CEO's name and founder name in the knowledge graph. This information is already included in their wikipedia entry.
Where else can we make changes to update this knowledge graph? Is their structured data option for founding dates, CEO/founder names? Should we include this information in their Google+ profile? We are using the publisher tag. We are not sure how to update the freebase account.

Google Data Highlighter Tool and Article Rich Snippets
Hey Folks
Has anybody had success creating a rich snippet via the Google Data Highlighter tool? I'm talking about having an image, author name, etc in the Google SERPs after apply article highlighting to a blog post? I've yet to see actual "article rich snippets" except for recipes or Google Authorship.

RE: Alternatives to SEO Book's Rank Checker
I understand your directness, but for future reference I would be careful about name calling. It's fuel for the fire for some people (trolls). My original comments were not intended to be malicious, they were just ignorant.
Besides that I have donated to www.charitywater.org. I'm glad to see that your company is involved with humanitarian efforts and I'm glad I can help out. And thanks again for getting rank checker updated. Love that tool.

RE: Alternatives to SEO Book's Rank Checker
Jen
Thank you for responding to Aaron's post and I appreciate that you took the time to edit his comments. I do highly value Aaron and what he has accomplished with SEO Book. In hindsight I should have worded my original question differently. I did not intend to insult SEO book. In fact free rank checker plugin has already been fixed and is now working properly.
Aaron: I have posted a response to your lashing out to below. I can understand that you are pissed off about my comments "SEO Book is dying out" but responding to me with name calling does not exactly bolster your reputation or your company brand. I do respect that you run a business and mean much more to the SEO community than a "unpaid slave".
