Yes I disallow all internal site searches. This robots.txt breakdown for my ecom platform magento, disallows them, but allows indexation: http://www.e-commercewebdesign.co.uk/blog/magento-seo/magento-robots-txt-seo.php

make sure your 301s are in place.

use seomoz crawler as well as google

search site:domain.com and see if any of the pages shouldn't be coming up or if 404s are there

use linksleuth (pc) to look at all the links in your site

make sure you dont change too much on the new site and keep it as close to the old as possible

keep title tags, content and number of links on pages as close to the old as possible - if not the same.

keep coming back to the forum with new questions.

No! Do not deindex your site.

There's something to be said about not doing everything at once. If you see lots of bad pages that will not be used and can not be redirected then let them go to 404. I think this is recommend on account of panda and only having good content and not redirecting bad content to good content. But you are losing link juice.

Create a sandbox and guarantee that no data will be lost.

If I redirect page A to page B does page A need to exist before Google sees the redirect. Or can I just put up a redirect and delete page A.

If the page doesn't need to exist: You have all your redirects in place for a website. You want this website to redirect to another website. You completely delete the website and put up the htaccess, there should be no problem with this, because the redirects are in place correct?

Can you give admin status to a user, that doesn't give them the ability to remove other admins.

This would be editor or contributor in wordpress.

The concern here is that an admin can delete the other admins. IF ATT gave admin to a disgruntled employee, they could lose a page for some time.

No they are not indexed. The benefit of disqus is a great platform for discussion. You lose all content or links. I would go for facebook.
