I've already crawled the site. Quite a few titles appear to be rather long. Most of the titles use San Francisco Video Production.

Only include the keyword in the title if that's what the page is about. Having a keyword in the slug is a good idea, again just don't go overboard. One page should suffice, but that alone won't guarantee the first page (No one and nothing guarantees first page results).

You have to look at domain age as well. Does one of your competitors have a couple of years on you? Do they have ten years on you? That's a big thing.

Where are you're competitors getting links? Are these links good, will they drive traffic? That's another concern.

I like to put page speed/usability in the first order, but many people say it's second order. Does your site load well/fast? What can you do to reduce page load speed?

These are some really basic things you have to consider. If you've answered them properly, your situation should improve.

I'm going to go with what may be the least amount of hassle to you, in relation to the CMS I'm most familiar with.

My example depends on what CMS/Framework you're using and if you enter the data manually, or if it's just being pulled in via some kind of API/Feed... what have you. Which it sounds like the latter is the case.

My use case is WordPress and manual data entry. It shouldn't take an experienced WP dev long to write a plugin for a single Schema type (Local Business - Event, etc.). It sounds lazy, but if you're not terribly comfortable with HTML - that alone would be a time saver.

However, if you're pulling these events in via some RSS Feed or API, that will likely require more dev time. The latter being the most dev time of all, even provided adequate documentation.

In any case, you wouldn't be able to get there without some amount of developer time/involvement. As far as I know, there isn't a plugin that handles your particular use case as I understand it.

Also, if you are using WordPress and you're using a plugin to pull in this feed - it could be about as time consuming as the second option. Plus, there's the added hassle of making a plugin work with a plugin. That wouldn't be the best idea either, but then again - sometimes my estimates are off.

Long story short, you will more than likely have to consult a developer on this one.

Alex had the best answer to your question. Just as an aside, you really want to update All in One. There's an XSS vulnerability. Also, the instagram plugin uses an outdated version of prettyPhoto which is also vulnerable. You could wake up tomorrow and find the SRC steeped in Cyrillic.

I wasn't able to duplicate what Alex mentioned, with the ads and all. The above is just something to keep in mind.

I would generally recommend a percentage based upon a set budget. That seems to be fair enough. Bruceclay.com is pretty transparent about their pricing. I would say that's a fair enough pricing example. If you start charging much more than that, it will really eat into campaign performance, IMO.

Then again, if I didn't have to pay bills, I would do pretty much all internet marketing functions for free.

That likely falls into the Link Scheme category. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm getting something a little different out of this. I plugged rugcare.com into SEM Rush. It shows a considerable spike in traffic in June, then a very big drop in July. Joehadeed.com and bergmanns.com are showing relative spikes and drops as well. So there's a possibility that a bigger competitor is eating everyone's share.

Though when I plug rugcare.com into Majestic SEO, it shows 55K redirect links pointing to rugcare.com. Majestic picked this up in late June, which may account for the sudden spike in rankings and traffic, followed by a steep decline in July. It also appears that the site received a number of links from housecleaningadvice.com with the anchor text 'upholstery cleaning tips - rug care'. They appeared to be nofollow, and I can't find the links anymore, but I wouldn't take a link from that site at all. It looks like it's part of a typical blog spam network.

I don't want to scare you, but have you received any warnings in GWT?

Was there any particular reason for their omission? Do you know how much traffic those pages used to receive? It looks like the oriental rug cleaning page would have accounted for a chunk of traffic on it's own. Now it just 404s.

I can't seem to reproduce the same results Alex is talking about. But at the time of posting, according to WPScan, it appears your All in One SEO plugin is slightly out of date.

Though I would be more concerned with the Instagram plugin that uses a vulnerable version of prettyPhoto.

I've seen prettyPhoto exploits before, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Just make sure to cover that base as soon as possible.

***Actually it appears your All in One plugin is up to date. I'm in about 10 different places.

I can expand a little bit upon what Silkstream has said.

If there are trade associations relevant to your site, make those a first priority. They tend to be easier if you're in with the crowd. Plus, your competitors are likely to link there. It's a way of getting an indirect link from your competitor. Though you can apply this to other situations. Use your imagination, brochacho.

A lot of webmasters make the mistake of thinking that no one is interested in them. That is untrue. There's an audience for belly button lint.

Find your audience. Learn everything about your audience. Work it.

That approach is far better than worrying about PR. Worrying about the PR of a site gets you into bad territory. That's when you start considering links from easylinkseodirectory4ulol.com. That would be a bad place to be in general, and much more a bad place to start.

Use the following search operator:
related:google.com

Replace google.com with your site, a competitor, or a site that didn't respond to your outreach. Plenty of fish in the sea. Just don't suck at outreach. Be real, be authentic - don't mention a link upfront, at all. 
That shouldn't be your goal anyway.  Your goal should be exposure through good things that you give others.

As Chris H said, your site has been hacked. Your WordPress blog is terribly out of date. There are a few blog plugins that are out of date.

Who do you know that are allowed to access the blog? I have four users listed. I'm guessing admin has been compromised.

You can use PHP redirects, and they'll do the same thing. Though it will be a little slower and the page still has to technically exist. If it's a very high traffic site, then it may eventually become an issue.

It's a percentage game, one you don't want to play, and no one knows the exact percentage for anything.

Run your site through SEM Rush. It's generally pretty accurate if you need a better understanding of what pages draw traffic and for which queries. After that, it's a good idea to use your analytics tools to identify pages that draw traffic.

One really good link may be driving a ton of traffic to a specific page, but it may not necessarily rank very well. The site might lose a significant amount of referrals due to that link. So make sure to check where your referral sources go as well.

When all of that is said and done, it's time to look at links. Use a few different sources such as Webmaster Tools (Google and Bing), Majestic SEO, Ahrefs and OSE. Majestic and Ahrefs are the favorites, as far as percentage of links and freshness.

When you have the Keep and Cull list, make sure to redirect the keepers to relevant pages. If the page was about donuts, send it to the new donuts page. Don't send it to the bagels page. Google dislikes that. Blanket redirects are generally sub-optimal.

As for the culled pages, you might try to offer a useful 404 page. Something that helps them find something similar to the topic of the page that went away. When all of the dust clears, 410 the culled pages. Alternately, you can skip straight to a 410 if you're only worried about bots wasting crawl budget on a bunch of 404 results.

I was checking my referral traffic after Pigeon, just to see how much review site/local directory traffic has increased. Then I found something odd.

It's not exactly like Tlames has stopped. I've noticed that kamabasoft(dot)com has been referring a bit of traffic as of late. Both Tlames and kamba referral traffic primarily originate from Brazil. When I did a site operator on kamba, I noticed two Tlames subs on kamba. (See attached image)

I'm aware that both referrers come from more than one country, but Brazil makes up the bulk.

Has anyone else noticed something similar?  Isn't it interesting that the tlames subs don't redirect, rather they go to headless '...' page? Kamba is obviously scraping - I just don't understand the reason for the redirects.

You can set tags to noindex/follow. If you're using WordPress and one of the more popular SEO plugins, this could be done with a couple of clicks. But are these tags actually generating duplicate content? Usually a snippet of the tagged posts isn't considered duplicate.

Anyway, noindex should be more effective than it was in the past. And as Highland has said, setting a canonical would be a good idea as well.

If the tags aren't really helping out site users, they aren't using them - etc., and they don't have any link equity - you could just 410 them. Plus you could submit the tag URLs for removal in GWT.

So check the referral traffic and backlinks for those pages and go with either removal or noindex follow and a canonical.

Benjamin is correct in regard to ease of management. For as simple as it should be, having multiple profiles confuses others quite a bit (namely, your team). You would lose those subscribers if you just up and killed the current Youtube account. How about a Youtube post on the current channel that states something like; "We've moved to X, so if you want to get the latest, subscribe to X channel".

Keep the old one up for a few months, and if any subscribers were remotely engaged - they can sub the new channel. Then everything will be easier to manage.

Of course, you could lose some referrals if you just ditch the current channel.

I checked the link profile in Majestic. It seemed to hug the X axis in a bad way. There were likely precious few links of any value. When the vast majority of links appear to be garbage, you're pretty much back at ground zero. And that's given a clean bill of health.

You definitely did the right thing in the end. It doesn't look like your site took a hit recently. UGC spam is no joke, especially for forums. I've seen quite a few take a penalty from the same issue.

If you cleaned up the problem, you're likely in the clear. Most of the time the profiles are building links for adult, pharma or casinos. Which in turn links to another profile or forum post - usually with anchor text well outside of your forum's interest. However, this one appears to be fairly close to the theme of your site.

Yeah, that part is a little too close for comfort. But it's likely a site can't be knocked out/penalized in a short period of time.

Since you're asking the question, you may know about this page. It pretty much infers that the algorithm probably wouldn't have liked pages with those posts. It states that if it comes to a manual action, then it would affect the whole site.

It appears like a lot of other Webmasters are clearing up your external problem. I see a lot of lost links in recent history that are basically comment/forum spam. Just keep an eye on your link profile for a while, to be safe.

You would do well to properly categorize your site. Yes, having a keyword in the URL is beneficial. There are ways to do that naturally, that make sense to search engines and people.

This would be a pretty good example of taxonomy:

I wouldn't recommend underscores in URLs. When The Googles is fairly transparent on something, I tend to cooperate.

So I would say you're likely fine. You can even go a little deeper. The search engine reason for flat architecture was due to crawling problems. As far as I know, they can easily handle deeper structure.

Though it may not be how you would like to handle navigation, you could do this:

Personally, I like the taxonomy approach - but within reason. Both have their benefits, but I think the taxonomy approach gives you a little more room to grow.

Our beloved Matt Cutts has, fairly recently, stated that social signals aren't part of the algorithm. Social signals aren't used for or against a site, regardless of their veracity. As unlikely as it sounds, Google just doesn't have the capability to accurately gauge social signals in a timely and accurate manner - or so we are told.

It sounds like you made a solid tactical decision in regard to how one should gain exposure. Congratulations, you made something good. How you iterate upon your recent success is up to you, but it sounds like you'll do just fine.

Yes, I got it from Majestic SEO. View page source then ctrl+f and type in 'daisy'. A lot of the domains with a lot of exact match anchors - hidden behind giant images.

The registrant of the site probably has no idea this all happened.
