Word Press has a plugin for images that adds meta tags to them I have used it before and it works great especially for e-commerce Wordpress sites. You should look into it.

RE: Single, high ranking pank disappears from Google?
I think it will reappear in a few days anytime I have made changes like that Google will usually remove it for a few days and then re-list it. It is weird just that one page took a hit though.

RE: Press Release Syndication: Good or Bad Post Panda & Penguin?
"Matt Cutts' example is pretty vague, as usual. "
I agree I was just trying to find some of his videos on the topic there was one I watched from a month or so ago where he suggested making news worthy content and getting it picked up by the media, but I can't find it.
Why not create a press release, distribute it, and leave it off your site altogether. That's what I have always done, and it works fine for me.

RE: What can we do to improve our site
"We worked out last week after a meeting, if we accepted all the paid articles we are offered each week then we would make around £2500 per week"
I would take the 2500.00 for one weeks worth of articles as long as they had unique content. Then invest that money into a new logo, crisper images, have a programmer plug in a 5star review section, and do an all around clean up of the site.

RE: Press Release Syndication: Good or Bad Post Panda & Penguin?
I watched a video published by Matt Cutts a few months ago where he clearly suggested doing something news worthy as a way of getting links.
What About Links in Press Releases?
Someone noted that while paid links violated the search engine guidelines, you can pay a press release service to distribute your release to places such as Google News, so don’t those links count?
"Matt clarified that the links in the press releases themselves don’t count for PageRank value, but if a journalist reads the release and then writes about the site, any links in that news article will then count."
If Google devalues these links they should not count for, or against the site. I have a competitor that is sitting on top of a very high keyword with nothing but press release back links.

RE: What can we do to improve our site
Hi here are my observations, please don't be offended just my opinion on things I noticed.
Your celebrity pictures seem distorted to me (32in monitor) this would be a big turn off. For example Richard Branson looks squished, Russell Brands photo looks stretched, Kristen Stewart squished, Celebrity Big Brother squished,
David Beckham pixelated, your photos are what the user sees first they need to be as crisp as possible, it could be my monitor however CNN, or any other news source does not have this problem on my monitor.
Speaking of first, the weight loss ad at the top should go. I would place the ads on the inside of the site in less obvious places. They should not be the first thing someone sees.
The footer section "N2TOWN ONLINE MAGAZINE BRINGING YOU THE LATEST LIFESTYLE NEWS"
I would reformat this into 2 columns and not use as much spacing.
Your copyright still shows 2011, and you could get a much better logo on fiverr for $5.00
When I click on a story the first thing I see is the top banner link, then the header and now another large affiliate link right under it. I have to scroll down to even find the story.
I think the stories should be your main focus not the ads. If you focus on the stories then you will get more readers, and ultimately those will convert into ad clicks.
http://www.in2town.co.uk/Claire-Hegarty-Alternative-Health The authors pic looks distorted on my pc very pixelated.
http://www.in2town.co.uk/Louise-Parker-Beauty-Blog this one looks great!
Benidorm Hotel Reviews by In2town. I am not sure why you placed the opening text in a photo the text that says " WE WANT YOUR **Benidorm Hotel Reviews" **
That needs to be on the site, not in an image, and then I would install a Google reviews plugin this will allow you and your readers to place a 5 star review that will show up in Googles search which will bring you more readers.
They will not have to email you the review they can post it right to your site, then Word Press will notify you someone has written a review and you can approve, or deny it.
Everything loaded very quickly I had no trouble with that or the navigation.
I like everything else I hope this helps.

Social Bookmarking services any good?
Do you guys use any social bookmarking services to help promote your website? Any of them worth using?

RE: Shares and tweets
I don't think your doing anything wrong I have hundreds of Twitter and Facebook shares, but OSE does not pick mine up either. You can see if Google picks them up by going to Google and searching your full url. http://www.yoursite.com you will probably need to go back in the results a few pages however you should start seeing them.
What I have found with the Facebook results is that people with less likes will show up first, and Google will not display all of them, but a good portion should show up.

RE: E-commerce Website, 1 year on, what are the next steps?
Hi you have a very nice website I would recommend adding a paragraph or two of text at the bottom of the site about your company, and your products as well if Shopify allows you to. That is one of the biggest drawbacks with Shopify not having full control of the site.
"I have a list of links from competitor sites via OSE, what do I do with them? "
Look at the best links your competitors have created, and see if you can get those links, or some that are comparable. For example if your competitors are listed in certain directories it would be a good idea for you to do the same.
"Can anyone share any real-world examples specifically relating to e-commerce businesses? "
**When it comes to Facebook and Twitter you can use it to hold contests, promotions, sales ect. **
For example you could give away a block of cheese to the follower that posted the cheesiest picture. You will be surprised at what people will do for free stuff. Get your fans involved, and you will go a long way.

RE: Yahoo Paid directory - Worth the Money?
Instead of putting all of your money into one link that you may not even get you could try and get 3, or four links from other higher rated directories that cost less.

RE: Lots of Listings on Page 2 SERP, but none on the first?
Hi most people think once they get to the coveted first page things will pick up, and usually it will but you will not see a noticeable improvement until you reach the top 4 listings.
Personally I would rather have a link on top of page 2 than the bottom of page 1. I would recommend you add some relevant backlinks to the site and that should push you to page one for some of your keywords.

RE: Performancing.com guest blogging service ok?
I don't believe I would recommend this to a client, while they may see some initial improvement in rankings after using a service like this in the long run it may hurt them. This is basically a new spin on blog networks, and ultimately is used to manipulate the search engines. Google has been destroying blog networks for the last year, and they are getting smarter everyday.

RE: My homepage dropped off of Google today? Any ideas?
I understand what you are saying and I have the same results when I search for it. His home page www.leaffilter.com is not #1 this page is when I search for it. www.leaffilter.com/contact-leaffilter/leaffilter-locations /

WWW or no WWW?
Which do you recommend, or does it even matter? www.yoursite.com or yoursite.com ??

RE: Whats more beneficial - Google+1 on your website or Your Google+ Page
Agreed the +1 button is better for your website. I am still not sure how to make a company +1 page. I have tried but it only sees my personal page. Honestly I do not like Google + I feel like we are being forced to use it because it "may" help our websites.
Facebook is much easier to use in my opinion however, that is probably because I am used to Facebook I spend a lot of time on there.

RE: Dedicated ip helpful for seo
Yeah but the bad thing is when a Chinese scammer buys the s, and rips a bunch of people off, and those people file rip off reports on the scammer. because those reports will still come up under your domain.
We had one buy our domain a few yrs ago with (the) in front of it, and for months we were getting phone calls for people looking for their ipad 2, and Nike shox
