Just could use some feed back on these products. I am looking for something to help Identify competitors top performing keywords by traffic amount, as well as possibly suggesting related keywords.
It looks like searchmetrics might do what I want, but not sure. Semrush I know is popular, but don't really know what is best for what I am trying to achieve.
I would appreciate your thoughts.
I must confess that I "learnt" SEO by undertaking in black hat stuff. I used various programs to mass post spun articles to blogs and directories and anywhere else the software let me. I spend hours and hours on crafting generic piles of #### to post everywhere I could.
I became so good at SEO for about 2 months. Things were looking good.. then penguin hit.
Not to let that stop me, I spent even longer crafting the perfect anchor text densities, private blog networks and anything else I could to try and fool Google.... 1 month of semi-greatness.
Ok, starting to learn alot of great things. Learnt about penalties, and more of what Google wanted. Let's try white hat.
With white hat it was all about the content. To my surprise I spent less time working, more time on producing a better site, and to my amazement ranking higher than I ever did before. That is not to say I have never had issues with content quality (short news posts), but I have never looked back since focusing on content and forgetting about links (although some content I have written is especially to attract natural links from other blogs).
Anyway, just make sure you don't mind losing any site you try black hat stuff on, but still recommend white hat stuff all the way.

Find your single.php file in your theme folder. THen change:
to
<h1 < span="">class="post-title entry-title"></h1 <>
plus make sure you change the closing tag to
that will be shortly after where you find that.
If you have a child theme (recommended) then you will need to find this file in the main theme, and copy it across to your child theme before changing.
NB: Make sure you back up before changing stuff!

I think you are right here... and yes, I think a change of strategy is required in light of the way Google is heading with this latest update and how other similar sites are suffering.
I am starting to formulate a plan, and your response kind of reinforced it.
Nope, they had a quick spike but if you see my link, they plummeted shortly after. Basically they spoke too soon.

My website reports on news relating to certain web hosting providers, and being hit by the latest phantom update a little I am looking back a little more harshly on some of my content with especially the older articles needing alot of work (I know some areas on the site need work), and there are some articles I am just not sure about.

These are 3 old articles that I have previously updated several months ago, but are they good enough. Due to the nature of the site sometimes I will report on certain news \ features that a web host releases, and sometimes there is very little to write about. These are probably a good example where I feel there is a struggle to write enough or the quality is perhaps lower than something that has more information to report on.
I would appreciate some harsh critical view points \ and perhaps suggestions on how to improve my writing style for these kind of generic style posts.

That crawl path report is pretty cool, and it led me to the redirect chain report, which I have a few issues to resolve with that with a few multiple redirects on some old links. Fantastic stuff.
Try this in your .htaccess file:

OK, what is your goal for the different articles? i.e. social sharing, ranking for particular keywords, attracting links, or something else?
Once you know the goal of particular articles you can think about how to write them to achieve those goals (noting you may want to do all the goals suggested above, just focus on one goal per article).
So lets go through some suggested titles:
Social sharing: 10 Pieces of Furniture you couldn't do without. No. 7 will blow your mind!
Keyword ranking (more natural traffic) - How to clean red wine off your settee.
Links - More detailed articles that go in more depth than the other articles, often helpful but could involve ideas from the other articles so something like - "How to know you are paying the right price for your furniture"
Whatever you do when ranking for keywords, is check out the competition and make sure your article is better, so looks nice, contains better information, and is more helpful. For more ideas, just check out what your competition is writing about, and take some ideas and just make the articles 10 times better bringing in more \ different concepts and information so it is totally original.
I always include the brand name where I can, but if it is too long because of that I do not hesitate to drop the brand name.
For the titles, whilst I think about it from an SEO perspective, it is also important to think of it from a CTR perspective too. Sometimes you need that extra bit of description at the expense of the brand name. To give an example, on some articles I find it better to put the month and year at the end instead of the brand name to increase CTR. So basically, no I don't think it particularly matters, but it will vary on a case by case basis.
Its the old black hat manipulation mistake. Many SEO companies will create spammy links on blog networks or with poor quality content. A focus on backlinks, and poor quality private blog networks means you must spend a lot of efforts both in time and money at the expense of high quality content on your own site.
When I stopped even thinking about backlinks as such and more about high quality content on my own site, not only does it take less effort, cost less but the results are there long term. Plus high quality content can actually attract links.
To give you some tips how to do white hat seo. You "may" have several types of content on your site:
1. Converting pages - these are your keywords for your products. You will do good on-page SEO and try to rank in Google.
2. Pages designed to attract links - These are your high quality articles that do not try and promote your products, but instead try to be fun, helpful. They may or may not rank for a keyword (i.e. you may just aim for social sharing).
3. Authority Pages - These may be related to your products that you try to rank for certain keywords, i.e. tutorials, guides, related information etc. These may not attract links, but they may rank in Google. You may use these to increase traffic to your site, but also feed traffic to your converting pages as well as increase the sites overall authority in the topic area. You will also want to link well internally to your type 1 pages to increase the type 1 pages ranking over time.
Now, the really high quality pages (item 2 above) you will want spend a lot of time on, making it look good, be helpful (tutorials are great for this) and as a rule don't try and promote your products. You will place a few subtle links to feed link juice to your converting keyword pages to increase rankings of your converting pages in step 1 above.
This is just one example where you think about your content, site structure, and realize that white hat SEO is actually alot of fun, and stress free from an SEO perspective. You actually need very few links with this method to rank well.
Thomas is correct. You cannot redirect from an URL with a hashtag in it (although it is possible to redirect to an URL with a hastag using escape fragments). Unfortunately, in your case it is the former, and therefore not possible.

Personally, I don't do guest blogging or even try to get links. I can see what pages get links naturally on my site, and it is truly the best content that actually helps people (tutorials \ guides etc). These are pages that can take a week to write.
I wouldn't want to put my best content on another blog when I can just get many 100's of visitors a week from just great article on my own site.
Just how many visitors would that good article have got if you had posted it to your own site? And what benefit does the one link give you?
There is a new Doorway pages algorithm coming that could potentially catch this kind of optimization out. Unfortunately, until it is released it is difficult to say how severe it will be.

Actually, many of the larger hosts using cPanel now do not require a dedicated IP as they use SNI technology that allows an SSL certificate to be installed on a shared IP. However, there can be other benefits to having a dedicated IP such as being less likely to get caught on an Email blacklist etc.
