Google Analtyics Changes?
Did anyone else's google analtyics numbers jump up this month?
Our unique visitors increased some, but our pageviews tripled and our bounces dropped significantly.
We have been working to optimize the sites and did have a huge drop in errors in our campaign reports.

RE: Looking for some suggestions on blog giveaway best practices.
Nice site, by the way.
We've had good responses to contests that asked for the reader to leave a comment.
I like your idea of having the readers opt in to recieve the blog posts by email.

RE: How about some SEO tips for small local businesses
Have you gotten involved with LinkedIn, google google+ business page, local places, Facebook and Twitter? Do you have local customers who might leave reviews at google, leave likes via facebook and retweet you on twitter? What about guest article writing for other local companies?
Some niches are definitely tougher than others, but I think if your content is relevant to your niche, good quality, and helpful to others mixed with relevant keywords, Google will like it. Answering questions and commenting can help build your relationship and pull in a few links as well.

RE: Some questions about guest posting
1) We usually do just one link in our resource box.

We prefer sites that have a variety of PR and we look to see if they have been around a while. Not only via domain age, but we will drop the url into the internet wayback machine to see a snapshot of their history.

We have only seen negatives from a site owner's perspective. We own several sites in a similar niche and we will get the same cookie-cutter letter, with the same errors, signed by a different person in a day for the different sites. We use that negative and turn it into a positive when contacting websites and offering our content!
