RE: Does Google really ignore Noindex pages?
Yes according to Google:
"How does Google handle nofollowed links?
In general, we don't follow them. This means that Google does not transfer PageRank or anchor text across these links. Essentially, using
nofollowcauses us to drop the target links from our overall graph of the web. However, the target pages may still appear in our index if other sites link to them without usingnofollow, or if the URLs are submitted to Google in a Sitemap. Also, it's important to note that other search engines may handlenofollowin slightly different ways."http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569

RE: Drop in Visibility and Visitors
Hi Mike,
Check you anchor texts, are you linking in with all keywords and no branding/URL? Does your linking profile look natural? Are your links quality/related to your niche?
Is your site a good site do your users like what they find? or do they go back to the SERP for another link?
Without a URL its hard to give you real constructive criticism.

RE: Press Release Question.
Thanks Nakul,
I appreciate your help.

Press Release Question.
We do many Press Releases for many clients and it is recommended to have an about us at the bottom of each Press Release...
If we have 200 words at the bottom of each Press Release that we submit to PRWeb should we change them up so they look unique? Will this be considered duplicate content if we leave the bottom section of our PR's identical?

RE: Lots of Listings on Page 2 SERP, but none on the first?
Hi Margaret,
If these pages are all targeting the same/similar keywords and the backlink profiles are similar as well you can do a 301 redirect from all the ranking pages to the page that is closest to the first page. Once this is done I would still focus on building more links like Tina suggested.

RE: Duplicate Content in News Section
I would "noindex" everything but your categories on a blog/news site.

RE: Anchor Text Diversity Question
It's best to have majority of your links branded. If you are getting links from quality sites for a term without your brand name it looks unnatural and that is what will sound the alarm.
if you URL is www.makemoneyfast.com go ahead and build as many "make money fast" links as you want... However if your brand name / URL is Moneymakefast.com link 70% of your links to your URL / Brand Name (Money make fast), the remaining 30% link to your exact and diverse links.
Here's a good slide show: http://www.slideshare.net/wilreynolds/google-is-making-changes-how-to-prepare-for-them

RE: What are the best social media measurement/ management tools to use (that measure metrics and conversation volume & conversation sentiment)?
Hi Rochelle,
I like hootsuite and you can use a shortener (within the software) for your URLs that will give you analytics. Also, recently I have started using http://www.wildfireapp.com/, which I recommend taking a look at (btw Google bought it)

RE: Google Not Reading Our H1 Tag?
H1's are used as Headings ideally, If you are targeting a keyword on a page its good to use the keyword within the H1 (with diversity)

RE: Client's site dropped completely from Google - AGAIN! Please help...
The site is relatively new. Ideally I would not focus on his current rankings, I would just continue to build good relevant helpful and authoritative links. The linking profile should mostly anchor in using a brand name or a URL. The internal linking structure should be built keeping the Panda updates (no duplicate content/no attempts to manipulate the search engines) in mind. Also, be sure that when you are checking for these rankings you are doing so from a browser in which you have cleared your browsing history and that you are not logged into any google accounts.
Add Google + buttons to your site.
Add a blog and post something unique (helpful to your users) every week targeting different pages on your site.

RE: Google Not Reading Our H1 Tag?
That's not his H1 tag, that is his regular content.
TIP: In Chrome highlight the text field that is showing up (below the image and Item Description) Right Click and select Inspect Element.

RE: Can someone explain this to me in simple language? Basically what do I have to do?
You need to create a robot.txt file and upload it to your server.
www.akaalpet.com/robot.txt does not exist...
This should help you set it up: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/robotstxt

RE: Google Not Reading Our H1 Tag?
The red box picks up text related to your search... It's not relevant to your H1.. BTW your site is built with tables, I would recommend a redesign without tables.
-
RE: Can someone explain this to me in simple language? Basically what do I have to do?
Without a URL it's difficult to tell... I would check your robot.txt file for a disallow code or check in you Google Webmater tools to see if you are not indexing this page.

RE: Google 'Author' tag question (Guest Blogging)
Yes the Google Author tag lets Google know that you are a reputable source. It gives you as a user authority/credibility. IMO your Google + page has a PR and even though there is no case studies on this yet, I would bet that it helps your site gain authority.
Heres more about it: http://www.slideshare.net/blindfiveyearold/google-plus-seo-and-authorship

RE: Is it a good idea to cross-link my websites?
Ahh I see
read this prior to my morning coffee...Yes you are correct, don't know why I was thinking that the sites where going to be migrated... However, if 3 pages are on the 2nd page of Google for one keyword, doing a 301 redirect from 2 of the 3 pages to 1 page should help win.

RE: Is it a good idea to cross-link my websites?
As long as the sites don't have penalties or too many bad (non relevant) links pointing at them you should be fine. What is the reason for this? are you trying to push PR to one site? If so... What does your linking profile look like?
If the new site will target the same keywords or if you are going to use the same exact text I would recommend doing a 301 redirect so that you can keep you link juice (authoritative qualities) and avoid duplicate content.
