Whenever hearing SEO news from a non-industry source such as entrepreneur magazine, my first recommendation is to locate the actual report from the source. The goal is for you to obtain the most accurate and complete understanding of the change and how it affects you. Outside magazines often add glamor for headlines, make interpretative errors or miss important consideration points. This is not a hit on Entrepreneur magazine at all but a recommended best practice. For this update, certain keywords are affected. Specifically those which are deemed affected by a "freshness" factor. The impact to your site depends upon your content. If your page titles are "sunglasses", "MX1000 Sunglasses by Revo" and such then the impact will likely be low. If your page titles are "Justin Bieber sunglasses" or "SuperBowl sunglasses" then the chance of your queries being affected by freshness are much more likely. With respect to exactly how Google responds, no one knows for sure outside of Google, and they don't explain the details of their inner workings. It is highly likely they are looking for brand new content. For the most part, this is new web pages. They may accept new content being added to existing pages as well. What we can confidently say is that changing the date on your existing content or shuffling words around aren't going to help.

Hi Soumendra This is only a problem is you have exact anchor text on the page in question. Seomoz still flares this up if the anchor text is very similar. Try changing the anchor text on that page to contain less of the same text? as otherwise it can send mixes signals to google as to which page you want to rank for a keyword and can result in internal pages fighting each other. shiv

There may be restrictions with paid advertising, but that shouldn't be a problem as you're talking about organic SEO.

This is a great tool, it will show you not only the sites they are linking to, but the sites that the sites they are linking to are linking to, if that makes sense.lol This has false negatives, like "sussex" gets flagged for "sex" so you need to read between the lines, but it's extremely valuable to tell at a glance if the site you are interested in getting a link from is linking to bad places such as adult, meds or casino sites. http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm

I appreciate your explanation Gianluca but I still feel my response was appropriate. Your original suggestion was by participating in blog commenting, I would more likely be viewed as an expert. As I shared, I have no need or desire to be viewed as an expert at this time. I share my knowledge and readers can draw their own conclusion. You suggest blog commenting leads to higher visibility, higher trust in the community, natural outreach, branding, generating traffic to my site, etc. I have never sought nor desired any of those things. My past mindset has always been I am one person with a full workload and am quite content. I am visible to my clients. I am trusted by my clients. I don't have a need for anything else right now. I appreciate you are trying to share your experiences. I noticed you are a heavy participant in blog commenting. I don't wish to discourage you from an activity you enjoy or find productive. As for EGOL's reply, I think you misunderstood. He shared with Q&A you know you are helping someone directly. With a blog comment, it may never been seen. Even if it is seen, readers may not find it helpful. How often do you go back to a blog article after having read it to check the comments? I never do. This is one of the great aspects of SEOmoz. It offers something for everyone. Some people just use the tools, or the blogs. Others want a bit of everything. Best wishes.

Reciprocal link building... if meant as the classic page "links/resources" not as well, because: the quality of your backlink is crap and, second, because for Google is so easy to detect them and discount the minimum PR they pass. No, follow the way I suggested. Then, if you want to compensate the blogger who reviewed the product, use their same review as testimonial in your product page. That will also give more force to the product itself toward the visitors of the page, hence, it may better the conversion rate. About Social Bookmarking... they are ok if they are not alone. And more: if they give some quality. For instance, have you ever thought to create a Power Point as a manual of use of the tools and publish it in Slideshare? Or, better, to create a video and publish it both in your YouTube profile and site, and then create a video-sitemap xml? That way you could be in first page also for the video result in the universal search. About article marketing... mmmm... if doing 1 article for article portal and writing a quality content. But I would prefer to try the guest blogging way. What I'm trying to tell you is to think out of the box, not to rely to classic and old fashioned tactics that a time consuming and not have a long lasting effect.
