Yes having one website would make sense but  the client I work for already has 4 sites so I'm not sure what is the best solution for him at this point.

2 websites are almost ready, the other 2 just the domains...

The aim is to get as many people interested in the penny stock market to sign up. Can't talk about the business model though (not sure this is so important anyway.)

The idea is that people interesting in mutual funds might be also interested in the penny stocks...and so on.

I have 4 domains and 4 keyword sets i.e.

1. penny stocks
2. mutual funds
3. stocks
4. day trading

My question is: what is the better approach:

1. Have each site around one set e.g. everything about "penny stocks"

   1. Site A - penny stocks
   2. Site B - mutual funds
   3. Site C - stocks
   4. Site D - day trading

2. Create 4 categories in each website about each set of keywords?

   1. Site A - penny stocks | mutual funds | stocks | day trading
   2. and the same..
