When you send your products to Google Merchant Centre you will have a parent product and children which will be listed as size and colour. The XML feed should have those all listed out separately, so that if someone is looking for a Black Widget size 9 then that will be an individual listing.

The parent title will be appended with the colour and size in search results.

So the answer is: do not include colour or size in the parent title as this will be appended to from the correct attribute data in your merchant feed.

Generally too, on your website, the title of the product, where products have variants or attributes is not to list them in the product title. It's fine to add them to the description, so in organics, they may be visible, but not the title.

I repeat, I would not start the title with 'Buy' anything. It's not searched for. I would start with the main keyword.

The 'bespoke bouquets' would only be added if that was what was on offer and would be the result of KW research. Bespoke isn't searched either.

Anyway, I don't think us discussing the issue is going to help.

If you keep asking the same question or variations on multiple threads without crediting those who have helped you then no one will.

You could do that or keep the core domain for Australia as the.com and then add

• youstore.com/uk/
• youstore.com/us/

Then as you say have IP detection to flick them over to the correct version.

Like Fitflop.com

They have the .com for the US and then it flicks depending where you are. If you change the .com to .com/au you would need to install a lot of redirects which isn't necessary.

I agree that you need to do some keyword research as it's a lot of characters to use up if people do not search for it. I disagree however that you would put 'buy online' at the front of the title. I work with a lot of online retailers and the correct way is to put the main keyword first. Also 'Buy online blue flowers' just doesn't read correctly so it looks spammy.

Far better to put the types of blue flowers you sell and in what format.

Something like this.

Then write a really compelling description up to 315 characters.With the description, you could be really florid, ahem pulling people in with a very strong call to action which could include a 'from' price, 'free delivery', 'up to x miles' from... Flowers are rarely sold just as they are and are almost always part of a bouquet or a display, hence my advice.

At some time in the future if you start adding a lot of countries it might look more sensible, but I wouldn't do it straight away.

I think you would have a very tough job beating Tripadvisor. It's enormous!

Maybe with some self-hosted transcribed videos and a ton of backlinks!

Tripadvior has 12.1m backlinks from 70k domains (SEMrush) so you will have a very tough job indeed.

I'd concentrate on making the page more appealing and satisfying specific intent as much as possible.

There has been a slew of these types of questions recently - everyone must be expanding worldwide!

Go with:

domain.com/us

Then make sure you implement hreflang tags sitewide. These must self-reference and then reference the other version of the page.

This is exactly what the hreflang tag is for, to tell Google that each subfolder and page is targeting a different country and possibly language, and so is not duplicate content.

If a page exists like this:

yourstore.com/category/product-1
yourstore.com/us/category/product-1

As long as both pages have an hreflang tag pointing to themselves and the other version you will be absolutely fine, no duplication, no worries!

Hi Chris

You do mention Locksmith Services a lot on the homepage and in the title: "Home & Commercial Safes, 24/7 Locksmith Services | Houston Safe & Lock

If the intention is to rank for 'Houston Locksmith' then you did a pretty good job on ranking the homepage!

If you really want to change this, I suggest you remove reference to the specific service in the title and H1 and around 12 other mentions on the homepage without links and confine them to the in-line page.

The other alternative would be to canonicalise the inline page to the homepage which should push that even higher as it is not conflicting with the inline.Sometimes this is a good idea if you have two very similar pages but only want one of them to appear in search results. The inline page being an internal page which visitors can click on when they get to the page.

It's a small conundrum but easily fixed.

If you have 5 countries to target it is very ambitious without having a good SEO holding your hand. But my advice is:

1. Use a single brand name .com for all sites, so for example website.com

2. Each country has a country-specific folder:

website.com/en
website.com/us
wesbite/com/ca

3. Use an hreflang tag on every page pointing to the page itself and the other country versions of the page.

Google will now not see each of the sites as duplicate even if you post the same content.

4. Folders can be defined to separate categories.

website.com/en/accounting
website.com/en/london
website.com/en/facebook

If a job exists in two categories it isn't a problem. - If of course the whole category is duplicated and all jobs the same then you either should not have the separation or you could canonicalise if you really wanted to keep both.

Hi Steve

400 outbound links is very high, but the domain has a DA of 65 and the page a PA of 32 with a low spam score. They are all dofollow as well. As part of a balanced backlink strategy, it won't do you any harm. Can't see it doing you much good either to be honest.

The problem you have there is just too much common content, also the top two pages have very little content. When Google indexes your site it scans all of the on-page content and you have common content blocks on all three pages.

1. You need to remove those block at the bottom so they do not appear on every page. Professional Web Design, Outstanding Content etc - look at the footer also as it is big, filled with content that appears on every page.

2. No page should have fewer than 300 words of richly descriptive, well-written content plus an image with the alt text of the page theme. I can't see any image alts.

By doing this you will separate the pages apart from each other and there will be sufficient variance in content to avoid any problems with duplication. It makes it much easier for the theme of the page to be identified.

You should not have to fetch as Google to get your pages indexed and please with deference to Paul, above, posting on Google+ will not speed up indexing. If it did then people would be all over it and they are not. You also can only apply to Google news if you have a newsworthy site and I can tell you right now that 90+% of sites are rejected because what they post is not news.

The fact that a page is posted puts it in the sitemap which is picked up by Google. Also depending on the size of your site some of it is crawled by Google every day. Just go to Google Seach Console Crawl Stats to see that.

I have seen pages indexed in under a minute (none news sites - yes seriously) and others take a week. What is of major concern is how you say that these pages are not linked from anywhere because there lies a large part of your problem. You need a proper site structure so that link juice passes from the main menu down through all the pages of your website. The more 'shallow' this is, the better as the pages are closer to the top.

If you are burying pages deep in your website with no logical route to them then they are just not going to rank quickly.

You need a solid site structure which starts with the main menu with proper departments, categories and if necessary, sub-categories.

Sort that out and you will see your pages indexed much quicker.

If you can get do-follow backlinks then this will help, but certainly not from Facebook and G+ as they are all nofollow.

I would work on developing a simple brand name without a generic word in it that can be used in every country as a .com. I would then use subdomains to set up country and language-specific sites.

So make the site name 'Jorgevolo' or some clever multi-national name.

Then:
jorgevolo.com/us/en for the English version in the US
jorgevolo.com/us/es for the Spanish version in the US

Many multi-national companies do it this way and you don't see Marks & Spencer, Microsoft or Nike trying to translate their brand names do you? One brand name= one brand logo and a much easier multi-site to manage on one IP/server etc.

Then place an hreflang tag on each version and also a link between versions.

Firstly it's unlikely that their scraped content will affect your rankings - Google generally knows who originated it. However:

Do you have the hreflang tag on your website? specifying your language and location? If theirs has this as well then technically you are targetting a different country, so there should be no duplicate content if you added it.

I would tell Google about the URL and add a sample 10 URLs first: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dmca-dashboard. Telling them is an absolute must even if it's only a few URLs.

Also email the hosting company informing them that they are hosting copied content and that the penalties are severe.

Finally, write to the company themselves and tell them/warn them that you are going legal and send them a cease and desist legal letter. I am sure you can knock one up for a few dollars from a friendly solicitor.

I would use option 3 where you add country followed by language.

website.com/ca/en

This will allow you flexibility when there is a country with two languages like Canada.

Just remember to use the hreflang tag on all pages.
