Hey Mike. Not to fret, this is actually a common silly mistake in theme development. The meta description shouldn't be set in WordPress theme because that is handled in the wp_head function. This function is where Yoast, and other plugins, hook into to deliver all the SEO optimized meta and header tags.

I checked the page source. You can do this by heading to any web page, right clicking and selecting "view page source". In Shopify, you can output the canonical url using the canonical_url object. I found this here: https://www.shopify.com/partners/blog/canonical-urls {{ canonical_url }}

It sounds as though you should be OK in that case - if they are all site.com/post, then it shouldn't matter how many categories they are in. In theory you can have Topics and Categories - it all depends on how the site is set up, but I would probably say it's best to focus your efforts on one if I had to guess without knowing the site and all the considerations inside out. Yeah, I don't disagree with you. Algorithmic filtering and ranking doesn't work exactly as intended, and there are ways to work around it as you point out. Generally, cannibalization shouldn't occur, but it does happen in some circumstances.

Hi Mike, There is no big deal on having tons of 404s when those pages are safely removed and don't carry any importance to users. Even when those tag pages are noindexed, there is less risk there. Google won't dimish your "SEO status" for having 404s that are correctly removed. Here, John Mueller in a Webmasters Hangout said that 404 or 410 won't impact website rankings Hope it helps. Thanks for the responses guys! I did specify numerous statuses because not all of them actually lead to broken links. For example, a lot of the links appearing as 'server not found' actually work. This link for example works, but is rendering the 'server not found' status by Broken Link Checker. Hi Mike, I wouldnt worry too much about this. Having old pages or removed pages returning 404s is completely fine by Google. Eventually, they will drop those pages from the index. If you are worried about those pages and/or they are being shown in SERPs and want to remove those urls faster you can use the URL removal tool from Search Console. Sadly, you have to manually submit each url and you cannot do it in bulk. Hope ir help, Best luck. Gaston

Mike, In my experience, low DA links often come from automated websites that are created solely for the purpose of ranking for longtail keyword traffic. Most of these types of sites often times don't have proper contact information so that you can get the links removed. I'm of of the opinion that you are better of investing your time in acquiring high quality (High DA) links from other credible sources. Enough of these links will offset these low DA links that you are concerned about.

No, they did all of their research just about that. Trust me, they can tell. Try to limit the number of ads, don't remove them, just limit to no more than 2 per page.
