Submitting the page to Google for Indexing doesn't guarantee that the backlinks will be crawled, but it can be a good way to try to force them to be crawled.

RE: Do backlinks need to be clicked to pass linkjuice?
The way that I understand it is that the click helps the link to be found faster than if it had not been clicked. It might have equity and pass link juice prior, but before Google finds it, it might not be counted as a link to your site. Does that make sense? The link needs to be discovered before the link juice is actually counted. At least that is the way that I understand it.
I do know a few professionals who believe that if a link isn't clicked link juice is never passed. I don't know if that is necessarily true. It makes sense that a link could be discovered but not have any equity because it isn't being used. I wonder if someone has a better idea of whether or not that is true, or if it another secret Google keeps

RE: 2015 Disavow Links on Bing?
In my opinion yes. Since disavowing the links doesn't necessarily remove them, I am a little more cautious on what I disavow from Bing. It is tough to have two different sets of standards for search engines, but unfortunately I have found this to still be the case.
Everything else though, like on page SEO and Social Sharing, still holds true that what is good for Google is also good for Bing and Yahoo. So far the only piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit is the links.

RE: Possible to Change Domain Name without Negative Rankings
That is a really good point. The - in a domain name is usually not a good thing.
Just to be clear, I wasn't saying it isn't impossible to regain rankings over time. It just won't happen instantaneously. It is possible over time to actually grow more and be better than the old domain, but that will take work.

RE: Why are "noindex" pages access denied errors in GWT and should I worry about it?
No. I wouldn't worry about it. Google calls them errors, the same as a 404 error. To them an error is anything that returns a code other than 200. I have hundreds of noindex pages on my site and it doesn't hurt. I believe it helps because it removes duplicate content and eliminates bad user experiences.
I have always thought that it is Google's way of double checking to make sure that the Webmaster is aware those pages are blocked. There have been times that I found URLs in there that weren't supposed to be, and contrarily found missing URLs as well. Its checks and balances in my opinion.

RE: Possible to Change Domain Name without Negative Rankings
No, that is not realistic. You will implement 301 redirects which will help you keep some traffic and link juice, but your DA and PA will not be transferred seamlessly. You will have to build the DA and PA of your metro-manhattan.com site the organic way with quality links and great content.
The 301 redirects might cause a boost in DA, but it will not be equal to what you have now.

RE: How do I find keywords for a product which is out in a few months, which we are setting up a preorder page
Have you tried using keywordtool.io? I really like the keyword tool in Bing Webmaster Tools also. They updated it awhile ago and it gives pretty good suggestions. You could also try going to Google and typing in New Mazda and researching some of the suggestions that come up.

RE: Is Schema markup important for SEO?
I agree with the Zen Agency. They explained it perfectly! I have seen a significant growth in my CTR, which has affected my overall KW rankings, after implementing the Schema.Org markup.

RE: What link building techniques would you recommend for a dating site?
Using your blog would be a really great way to build organic links. Make sure you share you blogs on social sites, it will help drive traffic and send relevant social signals.
I think about the EHarmony commercials and how they are always using scientific facts and then they use like common sense Q&As. If you could write some guest blogs to e-magazines or industry related forums with that kind of content it could be a great linking strategy. I would just make sure that you are staying within your industry. You might accidentally have links from less than reputable sites if you aren't careful.

RE: New Google Update on 21st April
I understand that tablets are mobile devices, all I am saying is that Google sees them differently. The reporting in Analytics, AdWords, and GWT separates Tablets and Mobile. I don't understand it either, but that is the way the cookie crumbles. I am not saying I understand it or that it makes sense, but there is a small separation for some reason.

RE: Which 3rd Party Digital Marketing Tools Do You Or Your Business Use?
WebCEO uses a lot of information from Alexa.com. I like it because I can run KW reports anytime that I want to. It accumulates information from different sources so it is a good way to verify what I see in Moz. The page issues are precisely displayed and really easy to use. It is an older tool, but I still find it valuable.

RE: Redirecting 301 or 302?
Is the 302 redirect the only way to get users from one page to the other?
The difference between the 301 and 302 is that the 301 will remove the page from the index over time. The 302 redirect is more of a fork in the road allowing the other page to remain indexed. It should really be your decision, if you want the page to remain indexed then don't use a 301 redirect, keep the 302. If it is irrelevant or if there is duplicate content it might be better to use a 301 redirect.

RE: New Google Update on 21st April
Tablets are handled slightly differently from Mobile devices. It is not a fair assumption that they will be affected the same as mobile devices.
There is heavy debate on the effects of this update on desktop searches. My theory is that this update cannot exclude desktop search results without there being a mobile index. I believe sites that are responsive will see the greatest benefit of this update.

RE: New Google Update on 21st April
Mobile Friendly will show on all pages that are mobile friendly, whether it is a desktop search or a mobile search. If you are forcing customers to your desktop version for a better user experience I believe that is the right way to do it. As long as you have a mobile version available and Google can see it I think you will be fine. Have you used the developers Mobile friendly tool yet? It could help answer your questions on a page by page basis. I don't know how tablets will be affected by this update as it is specifically targeted to mobile devices.

RE: Do You Work At Home As An SEO Or Have An Office?
Don, sorry to hear you are having a tough time. You are so good at what you do, don't let the man get you down

I started working in SEO as a hobby because I loved to write content. I did it for free for my friends' businesses and then started teaching myself some of the technical stuff. Now I work in house as the online marketing director. I hate being the only one in the company who knows anything about SEO and AdWords. I feel like I am always speaking Chinese to these guys. I have a few consultants, but it isn't the same as having a team of people to bounce ideas off of or double check my strategies. That is kind of why I like the Moz Q&A so much, it is like my team away from home lol.
It is a tough decision, the rebel in me wants to find out if you considered starting your own shop and taking your clients with you because I know you could handle it. And if ever something came up that you couldn't tackle you could find answers online; Moz, Search Engine Land, or any other resource. That is kind of the beauty of SEO, you can find the answers without getting out of your pajamas.

Again, sorry to hear this is weighing you down.Good luck!

RE: No Index PDFs
The files aren't duplicate. I am familiar with using the XRobots tag. I was really just curious if my theory would work.
Thanks for all your input.

RE: Best way to upload products to Magento?
If I am not mistaken, you can upload spreadsheets. If you can export your products from your current platform into a CSV you can manipulate the field names to be able to import them to Magento. I would do a test export from Magento to get the correct field names. If your images are on a CDN or File Server you should be able to add the file name and description to fields on the spreadsheet. I haven't worked with Magento in awhile, so this info might be outdated. Good luck!
