Http to https:Risky?
You are going to definitely need HTTPS on your site browsers are already making websites that do not have https look insecure I would change over ASAP. If you perform it correctly with the proper 301 redirects and update Google search console you will not suffer for more than a week max I have never seen ranking a drop personally out of over 20 sites but I have heard of some it is extremely unlikely that it will occur now. A how to checklist** is at the top if you. follow that you will be okay.** http://www.aleydasolis.com/en/search-engine-optimization/http-https-migration-checklist-google-docs/ http://www.aleydasolis.com/htaccess-redirects-generator/https-vs-http/ https://www.semrush.com/blog/https-just-a-google-ranking-signal/ Everyone here is ready to help if you have any questions. I hope this is of help all the best, Tom

Merging Sites - consolidation of your my web sites
No worries. What I mean by "naked URL" is a link with no anchor text, just the URL. As in: http://www.example.com/ as opposed to examples

Do rss feeds help seo in 2013?
RSS feeds as duplicate content? That's the first time I hear something like that. Feeds are intended for feed readers, which basically is a file that tells the title of the page/story, a small portion of the content/summary and the location of the actual document, an URL where you can read all the article/page. It also helps crawlers find new content in your site by scraping the feed instead of the whole site, but it does not SEO benefit, other that "perhaps" having your new pages indexed faster.

Has anyone used this? www.linkdetox.com/
I have found it to be quite useful. Its good for client pitches and looking at their back link profiles before the meeting. Its also a useful tool for examining the back link profiles of sites you are thinking about approach for link request or blog post.

Untrusted site - malware!
These pages or their domains should be disavowed to remove them from the Google index. The disavow tool can't affect whether or not your site is indexed (or I could disavow all my competitors). Disavow is a hint to Google that tells Google "Please don't count this link towards page rank". In other words, disavow, more or less, lets you reach into another person's site and nofollow the link to you. So, should you use it? Unless you have WMT messages telling you you have a manual penalty, don't touch it. Most likely the links in question are already devalued. If you use it, you could disavow links actually helping you and thus do yourself harm. MALWARE!!!! Unless there's malware on your site, links from sites that have malware on them won't hurt you (simply because they have malware)

To Disavow or Not to Disavow - that is the Question!
I am thinking that maybe my best action is to take the first 65 (that are very untrusted sites/malware) and see if get anywhere with http://www.removeem.com/ The thing is .. SOMETHING must be preventing me from getting my raking back (as I have made such a huge effort with content, social media etc etc)

Using 'Pipes' for Page Titles
I don't know who told you to remove pipes from titles since it has been a while seos normally uses them in titles, since they helps to separate sentences better than a full stop or comma. Aboutthe order, you want your main keywords at the beginning of the title. I'll add the name of your site just if the two are true: your title is still less than 70 characters long. If you add the name of your company and it's not showing, your just diluting the density of your title without achieving your goal (branding) your company is renown. Having the name of the company helps to enhance ctr if the company is renown, but if you're not so famous, I'll choose to have more dense and focused titles without diluting their value with not useful company names Hope that helps!

Social Media black hat methods - can google see this?
This is typical of businesses who often run terrible business practices, and offer bad customer support in reality, thus gaining few fans, who then will run out patience with the organic process despite paying for it, and are duped into this by some random spam or call or salesperson who calls themselves social media "guru" and thus you see surprising number of fans for that one terrible business you know and always wonder wth! I sure hope this never gets into search result ranking factors and that twitter and facebook do something effective against it, it is just going to make a lot of value generation from social media so much harder and more expensive (promoted posts etc).

Is this a 'real site' or a spam site for backlinks
Hi Rose, Indeed some hosting companies will throw up these ready cpc templates as soon as a domain expires and/or a hosting account goes into arrears. Bad form if you ask me, but it happens.

URL Names not so important in future?
URLs will always be important in lots of ways; They are seen by users in many cases (as links, in social media and even the SERPs) and can help improve CTR. They are extremely important to the overall site architecture - and especially for information architecture. They can often become the anchor text in links. They help a user when browsing the site, as if they represent the structure or "level" depth (almost like breadcrumbs) is can make the navigating experience easier. I don't think URLs are something Google looks at in a simplistic way like "oh you're URL says X keyword, we're gonna weigh that keyword more" - I think all of these factors feed into the importance of URLs and I don't see that value diminishing anytime soon. -Dan

SEO page length 4500+ words
Article length should not matter. Just make it attractive and readable to the user. There are many sites that provide good lengthy content but break it up into readable chunks. I particularly like this example on the Verge site whereby a lengthy piece is broken up into neat segments and there is a useful 'jump to' feature on the left hand side which acts almost as a teaser to the content.

Recommendations. Need Hosting Company
A quick search found this, to where they will even migrate the MODX site for you... I have heard of site5 before (nothing bad) but not sure as I have never used. http://www.site5.com/p/modx/ There are reviews on the page and you can do a search to find others opinion. But, just as a standard 99.9% of servers will "support" MODX, but it depends are you asking if the support staff is knowledgeable and proficient in MODX? My favorite hosts are Rackspace for enterprise and Hostgator for small business and fatcow/ipage/startlogic for personal or shared sites. hope this helps

Duplicate page error
The site should not look different. We changed some URLs for unranked kewords on minor pages (with 301 links). We added the canonical tag. We got rid of the https and redirected by 301 to http and some of the suggestions you said above. No major stuff and the site is not recovering... so strange. I think we must have done something structurally wrongs. I would happily pay someone to revise my site and make suggestions. I am at my wits end. Need someone familar with MOdx. Can you see something obviously wrong with the site?
