You cannot track single pages like that with Moz.

Google is a different case being run through the validator. I actually read an article on why google's site do not validate. The reason is that they send so much traffic, it actually saves them a good amount of money not closing tags that do not matter. Things like adding a self closing / to an img tag and the sorts.

While I do not think that validation is a ranking factor, I wouldn't totally dismiss it. It make code easier to maintain, and it has actually gotten me jobs before. Clients have actually ran my site through a validator before and hired me.

Plus funny little things work out too, someone tested my site on nibbler and it came back as one of the top 25 sites. I get a few hundred hits a day from it. I will take traffic any where I can get it.

I am not familiar with Drupal, when you say you are restructuring is that something internal in Drupal? Or does that mean you are changing the page structure of your site, like for instance moving pages around? Or are you removing some widgets and things like that from pages?

Hmm, I honestly do not know in this situation. One thing you might try is to do a modal that blocks the page with a semi transparent layer, but check if it is googlebot accessing the site and not do a modal.

But honestly, I thought it was a cookies thing being in the EU so I am not an expert in this area.

I imagine that other people have better answers than me, but I am going to put my 2cents in. As far as e-commerce comes you are really limited with your SEO. In my opinion it is the most limited market. Longtail keywords are a tough market and are tough to incorporate into product pages. Say you are selling a XYZ brand laptop with a module number of 123456, how do you h1 tag that into a long tail keyword? The best practice is to h1 the product name with maybe the model number depending on the product (yours I would recommend having the number). There are other on page factors you could use that might work well, but my strategy for ecommerce sites is totally different as compared to regular sites that do not sell products.

This comes down to personal preference in my opinion. I think honestly it is neither here nor there. The instances that your 404 page could come up in the SERP's is more than likely pretty low and at the same time it really does not offer any useful content. So disallowing it would not really be any loss. One reason why it might be disallowed is that you have an e-commerce site that rotates products. When a product is deleted, the developer has a 301 to the 404 page, then with the robots.txt saying not to index the 404 page, the other page will drop out of search engines. If this is the case I would rethink that strategy. If you notice a lot of sites like amazon and other big sites leave the page in the index even if the product is no longer for sale. The thought is traffic is traffic, the hardest part in the whole equation is getting someone to your site, if the page is ranking, why delete it.

The only time I can think that I would specifically allow it and optimize it is if you have a cool 404 page. Some companies actually spend a bit of time on their pages and it gets them a little pop of viral traffic from social sharing sites like reddit. If you do have one that is funny or unique I would allow it and actually optimize it for a term like "funny 404 page" or something like that.

There is one huge thing that is being missed here by both of you. The Google Insight grades on server response time. Server response time has no bearing on if a site loads 1 css file or 30 css files. It has not bearing on how many js files are loaded and if the parsing of them is deferred or not. If you follow all of the suggestions that pingdom gives you to the T, it will not affect your server response time one bit.

The only way to affect your server response time is going to be to reduce the processing time of your site. Not the loading time in the browser. To reduce your server response time you are going to have to explore server caching, mysql optimization, and things such as that.

Try putting the privacy redirect first. But yes, the order makes a difference. A htaccess file processes redirects until a match is made, then it stops processing them.

The only citation I could find in my searching is from Web Marketing Today.

But I would take 15% as a relative number, that is pretty meaningless. Let me share some of my experience, I am a moderator of an e-commerce forum that is mainly male developers. We have around a half a million or so members with the demographic largely being male. One thing I have noticed is users with a female avatar get more help, a lot more help. The picture you use matters just as much as adding a picture is what I am saying. Admittedly, with my name being Lesley, I have thought about changing my picture to a good looking woman to see if it would increase my click through rate.

One thing I have suspected, but not confirmed is that Google has multiple crawlers. It seems that they one that extracts structured data takes a lot longer than the regular one. I have about 20 clients who I have implemented structured product data and offer data with, it usually takes a month or so before it starts showing up.

That is actually totally sector driven. I manage a wide range of e-commerce sites and I  can say that no day is better than another as a whole, but each shop has its busiest day.

To answer your question I missed above, Prestashop is free, all you need it web hosting.

Its kind of a weird tag in what it is and how it works. I am assuming you have used MS products before and noticed they have their own way of going about things. This is an old tag that MS wanted to be a noindex replacement for specifying single pages. It didn't really work out for them though, Google stuck to the standard and indexed the pages anyway. I am sure you can go a sitename: in Google and see the pages indexed that have that tag.

One thing I am not certain on, since the tag really isn't used much and hasn't been used in a while; is if Bing respects it. Commons sense would say that it does, but MS sometimes does not operate using common sense. So you might check that the site is indexed correctly in Bing.

The site is taking way to long to load. What are the specs of the server that it is on and what kind of hosting package do you have? Also are you using godaddy?

Looking at the site, it looks like you are requesting to death. You have 14 css requests and 26 js requests. You should only have about 2 max. Also it looks like you should use a css sprite too. But the main issue looks to be server side to be totally honest. You can install new relic if you are on a vps account or have root access. But using something like maxcdn is not going to help you if you are not getting a lot of traffic. The issue seems to be the generating of the pages, not slowness in downloading files. It really depends on the web host whether they will follow it or not. Some that are soley based in the UK might not. If they have US based servers or the site is hosted in the US more than likely they will. It is worth a shot though, I try to rattle as many cages as possible. A few weeks ago I heard some interesting talk about this. I go to a local SEO meetup and Jon Henshaw from Raven Tools attends sometimes. He actually had an interesting thought on comments. Apparently from his own personal tracking having a comment by a top influential commenter can drive a post up in the SERP's. I think he mentioned a post he had that was kind of lackluster, but a notable person commented on it, and it drove it up pretty high.

It will get crawled, but it will not be indexed. Basically the crawler will get the page, see that and not index it. It could follow if you put noindex, follow. Or it cannot follow if you put noindex, nofollow.

It is, I do not guess there is any coming back from this either. It will be interesting to see how this changes SEO.
