2 sites using 1 CMS... issues?
I know lots of people who have two domains in same sector on the same server. If there content is unique and very different and they are not heavily interlinked then I would be comfortable with that.

Find all old links from a site to 301
ahref.com and majesticseo.com both keep historical linking data. You could use these tools as well to determine if you have any inbound links that are not being redirected.

Will really old links have any benefit being 301'd
It should be easy to install a 404 page that records the agent and if you notice googlebot is still hitting these pages, no harm in 301ing them to let google know that we have moved and it doesn't need to bother about this urls anymore.

Disavow - Broken links
Thanks everyone. Well this is an example http://www.hotmarketable4you.com/SpecialReports/PRE30141.html I had checked lots of these links maybe 2 weeks ago and then had (poor) content on them - but now all seem to be broken so i suspect was a link farm. And Mike - was more irrelevant rather than "bad" content Think I'll build links over next few weeks and then evaluate where we are then - hopefully rankings will start to improve

How long does it take for link to count towards DA?
Just re read how I wrote the question - it's actually a competing site that has the spammy link profile - that is why I was frustrated they were ranking higher. But hopefully Penguin refresh will impact them. Thanks

Should I create a microsite or will 301 be sufficient?
Hi Laura Both options are feasible really. 301ing the domain will pass the link equity to the shed finders site, which in turn may help it to rank for that keyword. It may warrant a bespoke landing page for the keyword, in which case creating a URL for that keyword and then redirecting the root domain to that page would be a good solution. However, you or your client may prefer to rank for the keyword for this microsite - if they feel that site better suits the purpose of the keyword. In this case, carrying on your link building and inbound marketing efforts for that site should inevitably help it rank for that keyword. You would want to make the site as informative as possible, while also making it as authoritative as possible - which may include guides, articles, videos and other rich media, social media integration and so on. Creating this 'authoritative status' could help it rank quicker, as Google does give favour to those sites that can be recognised as a brand. If you do all of that, you would feasibly be able to link the sites to each other - but do take care if you do so. It could very easily look like a link network or scheme if it is overdone, while the reciprocal link itself could look suspicious to Google if it looks as though it is just there to pass PageRank and not direct the user to another authoritative website. A recent Matt Cutts video on site interlinking may be of interest to you: http://youtu.be/x0-jw_PfwtY Hope this helps Laura!

Wordpress duplicate titles - can't find original title tags
Laura As mentioned below, I have this theme on an active website now with Yoast running and seem to have it working. This is the Felis WordPress theme by fireform if anyone else is curious. Try; removing the extra title tag code you added the header.php select "force rewrite titles" in title settings Let's see if that does it - I don't recall editing any other code to make it work, but I could be wrong, in which case I'll dig a little more for you. -Dan

Meta description template - will i penalised? Similar but not the same.
Hello, I browsed you site a little bit and I still believe it would be interesting to add a geographic dimension to your description and title if possible. title idea: %%title%% in %%city%% - ShedFinders.co.uk Description idea: Commercial Property for %%sale/let%% - %%title%% located at %%city%% -or- %%address%%. Exclusive industrial property, land & investments accroos scotland. If you can make sure title are not too long, adding other attributes like city, address, sell type will create more differences from page to page and is not bad for search engines since I believe that usually people search for certain property type by region. Note: The %%fieldname%% are examples, I have no idea how it's done in your site.

When to not index
only submit pages for indexing if they have unique and quality content on them, right now the current indexed pages of the site looks properly indexed with main pages, PDFs, and no duplicate parameter pages at the moment. The last thing you want to do is make hundreds or thousands of indexed user pages with little to no content on them. by the way i would move the brand name to the end of the title tag instead of the front, if you want it included. title tags should always start with the main keyword existing Shedfinders | Modern Warehousing With Office Accommodation better Modern Warehousing With Office Accommodation | Shedfinders

Replacing website, same URL, lose ranking
Thanks Paul - actually that has worked a treat. Everything is back to where is should be. I'm getting a error with creating my xml site map which is frustrating as not sure how to fix that as then wanted to submit a new one. But happy keywords all seem to be as normal! Laura

Why will my site not rank for this keyword?
Hi Laura When I checked (and I've just checked again), the real time results show that the title tag is showing the company name. If you, or another person have made these changes, they haven't been saved and effected the change. I've attached a screenshot of keyword analysis for that page - only showing critical and high factors. You can see that it references the Title Tag in two areas as being unticked. The number 2 in your url will be fine and shouldn't cause you any issues at all. As a starting point, your title tag and your images titles and alt tags should resolve it. You can then work at marketing that page etc. I would really recommend the moz toolbar, I don;t think I could live without it to be honest! When you know what you are looking for, it tells you exactly what you need to know in an instant. electric-radiators.jpg

Should my Google rank be different to actual SERP results?
Thanks for that ... the site was redone about 5 months ago so maybe that is the reason for low page rank. Great - like the sound of the SERP dance Will keep up back linking and hopefully stablises at 8! Laura

Preview not available in SERPS & Google Webmaster
Hi Laura, Done some research on your problem and here are my findings on it. Sorry I not sure about it but you can try it out: From Google Webmaster: ( Read text in bold) In addition, embedded video or other rich media may not be visible in Instant Preview. The preview generator renders JavaScript, AJAX, CSS3, frames, and iframes in the same way that a Safari / Webkit-based browser would. It currently does not support Silverlight or Java applets, which may be shown as a "puzzle piece" in the preview image. What I find in your site ? Check first line of your HTML code. Here it is: **<html xmlns="<a class="attribute-value">http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml</a>" dir="<a class="attribute-value">ltr</a>" lang="<a class="attribute-value">en-US</a>" ** xmlns:og="<a class="attribute-value">http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/</a>"> **Solution:** When I open the "**http://opengraphprotocol.org/schema/" url, the web page get redirected to "http://ogp.me/".** Read the first line of ogp.me it says that "The Open Graph protocol enables any web page to **become a rich object** in a social graph". Hope this help you out.....

Meta Keywords ... Client request
I would use no more than seven remember Google stopped valuing the keyword tags because people were stuffing them. 30 keywords is stuffing, and could possibly send spam signals.
