As a consumer, this site raises several red flags for me. The site is just over a month old, there is no indication to the user of a way to contact the site by phone or mail (though privacy policy indicates this can be done), the WHOIS shows a registration based in China, and the images are stock images (despite text saying that it is actual inventory). These same factors may also raise concern with anyone doing a manual review of your site. The links to this site are also few and suspicious.

It could be that this is a very spammy space and Google has cracked down on sites that have little original content and have signals that they may not be totally legitimate.

Revisit-after, based on searches I've done in the past, was used by one regional search engine in Canada many, many years ago and not by any other engine. You can safely not worry about needing to use it.

For Abstract, it doesn't look like it's used that much either. http://www.metatags.org/meta_name_abstract

However, you DO want to be consistent and have either all www or no www, and have one redirect to the other, so you don't have both versions (www and non-www) indexed.

My personal opinion is not to worry about it, but I'll ask around here for a second opinion from someone with a little more experience in this space.

See what MythBusters and Dirty Jobs have done regarding these subjects and see if that offers inspiration. MythBusters has at least once done an episode on exploding water heaters. Enough people like how Mike Rowe can clean a dump truck and recycle toilets that he (and Discovery) can make a nice living. Here are a bunch of his episodes http://www.dirtyjobsmikerowe.com/dvds/. Maybe see how he treats topics in your subject area for ideas?

The site looks visually nice, except for the list of keywords at the bottom that Adam mentioned. I agree that some good backlinks are needed.

For user experience (and a bit for ranking, but primarily user experience at this point) I suggest looking at the file size of the images on your page. My first impression was that the site was slow to load, and I noticed you have several large image files that could be reduced either by saving a png as a jpg, or compressing the jpg (investiate smush.it from Yahoo).

SEOmoz aims to update the API and Linkscape every month. The most recent update has had a two-week delay, and is now due out on Wednesday, July 20th. The update calendar is available at http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/25141119/Linkscape-Schedule.

You can also help make sure that your ad shows for the most relevant search terms by using negative keywords. An absurd example, but if you are advertising for furniture you want to show up for "night stand" but want to be sure to have a negative for "one night stand". They can't click if your ad doesn't show.

Cocarcea Ion, the original poster is indexed in Bing and Yahoo!. He states he is getting indexed, just hasn't had much traffic for related phrases. I've looked and do see his site being indexed in Bing and Yahoo.

After looking at your site, I have a couple of questions and suggestions about the site in general. Remember, it's not just rankings, it's also visitors and conversions and visitors trusting your site.

1. The latest Open Site Explorer crawl is showing only 13 different domains linking to you, and not all of those are relevant (such as the five-page skylifeguard.com site that links to STD tests, XBox 360 cheats, and a couple of dozen other sites including yours.

2. Remove that pop-up! When i try to view another page on your site (not trying to leave the site), I get a big window that asks me if I'm sure I want to leave the page. It's not helping your users have a positive experience.

3. Is the blog content unique? I'm seeing what looks like the same content on several other blogs. Also, the "223 comments" next to a blog post but the message of comments being closed and no comments being shown is confusing.

4. If you haven't yet, verify the site in Google Webmaster Tools to look there for any messages from Google regarding the site, and to see more information about the site.

5. There have duplicate content within the site. There are twenty pages that appear to be identical, except for the city being targeted.

If you have a static site with twenty pages that doesn't get new pages added very often then yes, a site map probably isn't of a whole lot of use if your website has good architecture.

However, if your site is 30,000 pages and gets new content added regularly, then an xml sitemap is useful to make sure that the engines know about all of your pages.

Using multiple sitemaps can be useful to help you diagnose what type of content Google is crawling best. A hypothetical example is that you have a large site where you a) sell baking supplies b) have recipes and c) have user profiles that you want indexed. You could submit a site map for each area (then a master sitemap that lists each of the sub sitemaps).

In Google Webmaster Tools, you get a report that says how many pages you submitted for each site map, and how many of those pages are indexed. using the above setup, you might find something like:

baking supplies has 50 URLs indexed out of 2000 submitted
recipes has 10,000 URLs indexed out of 11,000 submitted
users has 500 URLs indexed out of 1000 submitted

At a glance, you can tell that something is up with the products you're trying to sell and that Google isn't indexing that section very well, and you know to focus on that section, and maybe there's a bug in the code that put a noindex on most of the pages on accident.

I checked with the help desk, and they looked at the questions associated with your profile email. There was a reply from the help team to your most recent question, but maybe you didn't receive that? If you can give us the ticket number you got with your initial request, we can look that up and get back to you. The email from the help desk would have zendesk in the domain, which might help with a search to see if that email got filtered somehow.

For questions, we did have a problem for about two days where people could submit both private and public questions and they wouldn't be displayed, even to staff. This happened at the same time as the new OpenSiteExplorer was released and MozCon started, so it took a little longer than usual to reply. I do see a question from two days ago that had a response written earlier this morning. If this is not the question you're referring to, please send me a private message and I'll investigate further. Private questions can take a few days for a response, and combined with the Q&A being down stuff did get a little slower. We're so sorry about that, and Associates are going to be working this weekend to help clear up the backlog.

Being a Moz employee, I'm just a tad bit biased here, but I would recommend this Q&A forum as well. There's a higher barrier to entry here (you need to be a Pro member or have 500 Moz Points to ask and answer questions), and it's moderated by several paid employees and associates. Rand himself often stops in to answer questions, as well as a variety of industry experts.

As someone who has just spent three hours today going through the public Q&A entries (I'm an SEOmoz associate), I have seen responses with multiple thumbs. I think the most I've seen (or noticed) is 3-4 thumbs, but I do see two thumbs quite often. The Public Q&A is fairly new, and the most recent two weeks are restricted to pro members (I don't know if free members can add thumbs after two weeks, or just view the answers), so it may be just a lack of people so far. I do thank you for your thumb usage and participation!

If it's the topic you've talked about before, I know nothing about that, so I would not be the one to write about it. For ecommerce, check out Rob Snell. His site is at http://www.robsnell.com/, and I've seen him speak at Pubcon, and listened to him on an interview at Webmaster Radio (probably in their ecommerce experts show). He talks about how he gets content for his brother's product pages. IIRC, he sits down with a tape recorder and has his brother tell him all about why you would want this particular product for your hunting dog, what makes it great, what are some of the questions that they get on the phone all the time, and then goes and writes all that up for the site.

First, Don't Panic! You're actually seeing a bug in Linkscape/OSE that we're working on eliminating. What's happening is that as we make deeper crawls, the crawler is finding more downloadable files and chocking on them, and wrongly categorizing them as links. One of the Linkscape engineers has a good explanation over on this thread at http://www.seomoz.org/q/how-are-our-competitors-getting-these-inbound-linking-domains.

I've only found one other question in Q&A that mentions Treepodia, from someone who has used it before. You might contact the author of http://www.seomoz.org/q/video-seo-youtube-vs-3rd-party-hosting-with-video-sitemap to see how it worked for them.

If you try to share "http://www.test.com/how are you.html" in an email or online, it's not going to automatically hyperlink the entire URL, it'll likely break off at the /how part.

I second using hyphens as separators. They present a clean look, and don't break or get translated with weird characters by various systems.
