RE: Tools to Eval Blog Content - Rate your Fav tool
I agree with EGOL here but if you want content evaluated and the best way is to put it out there through social and other forums for people to give you feedback. I got some really great feedback from this forum for example on my site recenly that I have been working on since nearly every day.
Tools generally only take you to a certain point. If you are at the early stages of writing content and are reluctant to put it out in the main stream then use your email address book and ask for feedback on a few links from friends and if they are good friends they will help with some feedback.
But ultimately it is the market that gives the best feedback and needs you to pump it out bit by bit. Copyblogger says write , then write some more then write some more again [paraphrased here a bit]

RE: Why am I getting duplicate content errors on same page?
Hi Kristi
Can you post a link please so that we can have a look please? And is this happening for all pages or just some? Is this a Wordpress blog?

RE: In order to improve SEO with silos'urls, should i move my posts from blog directory to pages'directories ?
I agree with Daniel here - its what in the pages that count more than the link structure.
Daniel Why would you say he should he ditch the blog in the path - if he has a blog he has a blog ??

RE: What's the best way to find some guest blogging opportunities?
I recently went to myblogguest.com and found a pretty active community there with a well moderated group.

RE: Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
Wow Sha
Thanks for the words above - you are right on the nail and I already made some changes. I am doing a root and branches change now to the language I use and the We v. I that is prevalent throughout the site which reads badly.
I am a terrible speller and your points on even these simple points make sense and I have corrected this glaring grammatical error and I increased the amount of words on main page, added my Google Places map and wrote a little bit more about me as well.
I am now working through ALL my 106 blog posts to make them crisper, with better keywords and of greater value as a lot of them were written in haste and need work and proper spelling (!!)
I am revisiting my decision to leave SEOMOZ and may stay a little longer as even this postalone is worth the fee for this month!! I hadn't actually realised I had a once a month private question either so I am lining that one up.
LAstly I am starting to munch on the elephant.

No problem thank you for commenting.

RE: Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
Thanks Ryan. I have my graphics guy working on cleaning up the logo which Is not great. I will look at the spelling errors and of course I don't take offense in fact go as hard as you want.
I appreciate the comment on focusing the level of expertise at least in terms of on site. One of the items I need to do is work back through all my blog posts over the past year and tidy them up as I know the need a ton of work in the first place and this is an area I will work on,

RE: Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
Thanks Nicholas - I have redirected that contact number page - careless to say the least. I am on page one for website design cork but below the fold
I will look more closely at my index page - any thoughts welcome of course but thanks for the feedback to date.

RE: Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
Thanks Sean. I agree that Website Design is competitive and is probably aiming high. I will try and aim for website design Cork.
Most of the forum comments were done without link building in mind and I suspect that if I didn't use real name in a lot of these cases my post would not be accepted.
However the guest post space is somewhere I will investigate and see what impact it will have.

Not sure what you mean?? Can you clarify???

Failing Miserably - Should I Just Bin This Site
I am in the last weeks of my 3 months paid subscription with SEOMOZ and very sad to go.
The main reason is that my website design business site is delivering no business to me at the moment. Zero - zip - nada. It has been live for the past 4 years and cumulatively it has probably paid for few beers and pizza. Most of my business has been through word of mouth and not through direct traffic to the site. I had really hoped the site would be the sweet 25% extra. Now the overall website business is reasonably healthy but I cant understand what I am doing worng with the site.
I have tried and failed to optimise and am at my wits end what to do with it. If anything my ranking is dropping over the past months.
Could any of you guys give me some ideas and tips before I literally hang up the shingle on this site and start from scratch with a new design and revision.
I want to rank for website design and as we all know you need to be above the fold on page 1 to do this but I think my overall design and strategy for this site is flawed and I should start again. But if you have ideas then shout before I head over the high Irish sierras for better lands.
http://www.grangewebdesign.com is the site - feel free to check it out and give tips -

RE: Buying a website and redirecting everything
No and No
You cant transfer authority really you may transfer the traffic for a while by the redirect but I would stick with the old site and work it as is.

RE: Leap of Faith - Damm the consequences - Title Tag Change
Thanks Joe - not every post is about it so I think I might just revert a little bit to more manually massaging titles and work a bit on my whole structure. I have about 100 posts and they all append this tag which probably a bit too much.

RE: New Domain Page 7 Google but Page 1 Bing & Yahoo
No problem I often look at questions and posts I do and wonder if English is even my first language

Short answer is yes as they both use different algorithms.

RE: SEOmoz vs Google Webmaster Tools on incoming links
Did you set up t he links pointing to the www version in the first place? Its not clear from y our question and this might be ther reason. You should ultimately redirect to one or the other and when this is done build linksot the relevant one and you needn't worry anymore then

Leap of Faith - Damm the consequences - Title Tag Change
the crazy things we do mid week. But after reading Cyrus' post on beating Panda I went back to my website design site http://www.grangewebdesign.com which I had set up a plugin which had all my posts setup as
Website Design - %%title%%
So basically every Title tag had Website Design in front of it. REadingthis post now it suggests that this is bad practice so I just changed it to
%%title%%
which now of course means that I should perhaps look more closely at the titees I have been using.
Was embedding the Website Design in front of the post overkill?
thoughts appreciated...

RE: New Domain Page 7 Google but Page 1 Bing & Yahoo
You kind of answer your question yoursefl here
but in more detail you can expect for a domain with low traffic for it to rank pretty soon on Bing and Yahoo over Google in some cases. I had the saem experience with a domain seo-cork.com which I registered some time ago slapped in a ton of not really rich in keyword posts and it ranked Page 2 on Google again with no inbound links or other types of SEO.I would try some other combinations on the site for other keywords and see what falls out. But ultimatly don't sweat this if the keywords in question aren't going to generate clicks for y ou.

RE: Best place to start link building
Dont worry about PageRank is is not a solid measurement of ranking anymore. In the first place you need to do up a plan of what you want to rank for as though you say you are looking for good links you are not clear as to what exact keywords you want to rank for. Look in the SEOMoz training under keyword research for some good tools on how to do this. Then I would as James suggest below start some organic and slow link building building over time.
Along with the tools here the simplest of tools is an excel spreadsheet where you build up a list of those keywords (start with the long tail ones mentioned on the page). Then go out an research what sites are speaking about this blogs, business sites. Build real relationships, work your social media strategy and over time you will get links - not lots of links but good links -
Your aim should be to be the authority in this area but in the first place work on above and even read the rest of this training page.

RE: Pages For Products That Don't Exist Yet?
I would second / third this. And don't put coming soon write a short spiel that says 2011 Super Widget is coming soon and should be this color and size and we will have ht charger when it comes out. What other items do you think the widget should have as accessories.
