Any chance you would be willing to share the URL so I can run some diagnostics?

A few things to look at:

1. Insuring that 301 redirects are in place to redirect non www to www and http to https

2. Google Search Console for any 404's that have popped up since the move. You'll want to redirect those too

3. Submitting your XMl sitemap to both Google and Bing via Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools

4. Making sure that you've updated your prefences in analytics to https in both property settings and view settings

In finding these index pages, I'm assuming that you did the following:

1. no-indexed the pages from the domain you are concerned about

2. dis-allowed them in robots.txt (just another step to help speed up things)

3. Used the URL removal tool in Google Search Console

Unfortunately, it does take time for Google to process these URL's out of the SERPS. Hopefully, you are seeing a decrease in the URLs shown in the SERPS

Also, don't forget to do this via the Bing Search Console too!

Hey! Have you tried uploading more photos to the yelp account or encouraging people to leave reviews with photos? Perhaps they may pick those up and replace the ones current listed on the maps.

Honestly, if the client is already on you about not losing SERPS, I'd just leave the structure as it is. Preserve it and move it over to the new site. It's not as clean as you would like it, but it does contain the blog title in it and that should contain relevant keywords/subject matter.

Can you expand on the 404 issue with Hubspot scheduling? Have you talked to them about this issue? They're pretty adaptive and I'm surprise their scheduling structure would produce 404's ahead of the post being published.

Hey Eric,

It honestly depends on the site. I think for the site you gave as an example it works. The video compliments the page and doesn't show in mobile. The things I would look at would be:

1. Time on page

2. Conversions from page

3. Bounce rate

4. Keyword positions

If any of those are showing downward trending data, you may want to remove it to see if it changes anything.

I'm curious as to why you would want to add the UTM parameters as you could just look at the referring source of traffic and attribute it to the specific site that the e-release is on. Hey Rasmus - I honestly think it's an issue with the redirects. I would double check them.

I did just visit https://www.pissup.de/package/basic-survival-4/ and it looks like it's redirecting. Were you able to get those shored up? If you are still having trouble, I would contact your web host to make sure those are shored up.

I agree with Joe. SEO and web development often think differently about website structure. It's gotten better but with Google's emphasis on speed, both teams will need to talk more over the next few years. I would try to be as involved as possible with what they are doing and how they are doing it.

I assume that /personalise-toys will be a more general category that will link to new more specific categories like /personalised-toys-for-boys right?

If that's the case, I would just change the content on the more general category to the new content/products that you have with the new site (rather than 301 redirect). The equity would be transferred to the more general category which lists products relevant to it. So if someone Googled it, they would still be able to find what they are looking for. The equity that you've built up with the more general URL will be passed to the new URLs that you create and link to (I assume) in the new iteration of the website.

Hey there! Do you have a link to a page where it's implemented live? As long as you have the no-index, no follow in there, you should be okay. Other things you can do:

1. Use robots.txt to hide the directory of pages that the plugin is outputting

2. Sign into the Google Search Console and no-index the same directory

I would do 1 and 2 to help speed up things once the no-index, no-follow tag is in place.

Hey! Great question. I would organize your main navigation to be most helpful to the people who are visiting the website and not necessarily Google. If it makes sense to add those links into the nav when you are taking that step, then do it. You can also tell Google about importance of links by your overall inner linking stucture (which can be viewed via Google Search Console). You can also work on doing link building to the most important inner links on your site too. This will help with ranking your page.

The three things that you'll need to be concerned with in preserving SEO:

1. URL structure

2. Architecture or site map

3. Content on indivdiual pages

If these are preserved (which I recommend), then you shouldn't have any SEO issues when you move it to WP. I would recommend a custom WP theme. You can preserve the design but you may want to see how you can modify it to be faster as Google just updated their PageSpeed tool: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/

1. Link to this new site from a few of your other hobby sites to give it some credibility

2. Either sign up for https://www.yext.com/ (if you can tie a local address to it) or start building some basic social media profiles to start getting a base of links (Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, Twitter

3. Research people of influence in the industry on Linkedin or Twitter and see if they'll share helpful articles like this: http://www.magnet-fishing.co.uk/how-to-magnet-fish-guide/ to help build some social mentions

4. Keep adding new content

In taking a look at the surface level, here are a few things I'd do with the site:

1. Assess your inner linking structure using the Google Search Console. A lot of the recent algorythm changes have been about your inner linking structure and also links to deeper pages.

For example: this page has 12 inner links: https://www.justbunkbeds.com/dillon-gray-beadboard-twin-bunk-bed/

Your contact us page has 256 inner links

I would look at where you are ranking and start building inner links within your site to pages that are on the second and third pages of Google. You can use your blog for this too.

Also - I'm not sure if BigCommerce allows this but I would also add a title tag to your images. I've seen increases in rankings if you also include a title attribute on images in addition to the alt tag

Finally - building external links to deeper pages would be at the top of my list of recommendations. I hope that helps!

I'm willing to bet that this keyword is super competitive and you'll really need to dig in in order to rank for it. The things that I would start with:

1. Competitor analysis for the specific keyword (per Roman's recommendation) - evaluate 2-4 top competitors

2. Competitor backlink analysis

3. Optimize the indivdual product pages first - go for longtail keywords in order to try and get some organic ranking

Slow and steady wins the race with SEO. If you are limited on time and resources, I would focus on creating quality content with the posts that you add. It's tedious but it'll pay benefits in the long run. You could combine a few different tasks when publishing a post - so publish post, then update social media accounts and even do outreach to see if influencers will share it on social.

What I typically do is I actually have excerpts of the last 5 blog posts displayed on a homepage after the key content is displayed. Remember, that you can assign multiple categories to blog posts so you may want to do that if it makes sense for the visitor.
