I am a convert, I like the way search is going. of course there are gonna be bumps along the way, but I think the social integration is a better way to connect people. We have already shown our predisposition to loving this mentality of online communitites, so i think this is just another stepping stone to the new social "It"product.

I also like geolocation, I think as an SEO/Internet Marketer it makes my life more confusing and more confusing to clients/employers, but as a general user I think it is definitely on the right track to helping people get with local resources, as well as brands, which i thinks makes for a more informed consumer.

It is situational

301 = Permanent Redirect - and better for SEO purposes as this tells the search engine that the redirected page has become the new page

302 = Temporary - Search engines of course follow the 302, I even think it will show the new page in results, but if it is a permanent, and you are worried about this - then use a 301.

Tough to give any kind of reason for use other than that above without some situational knowledge

But to a user, it is does not matter wheter it is a 301 or 302, but to bots the above differences apply.

And as a 404 I would assume it is a 301 - but not sure, due to I do not know the reason for the 404

I would highly suggest as EGOl points out looking into hiring a reputable firm to help you with this - As, what I have suggested will only get your domain under your control, to then configure it as you wish.

.htaccess is an Apache server side technology, this is what controls the actual 301 redirect (or through Vhost) but the nameservers of the domain must be pointed to a server you can control first.

So basically they use white hat, and on page to rank for terms they know they can rank for, they most probably do not take on all clients, only small to medium businesses that can see easy results in an easy market, by white hat.

The issue I see in this, is there is no longterm business growth strategy, only the putting of all eggs in the Google Keyword basket, in the hopes that these terms will make money.

I am with Matt, cannot give a opinion on whether to use it or not, but it really depends on is all you are trying to do is get keywords? Then it might work for you.....

if you need hosting and the builder - weebly.com is a pretty good choice - there are drawbacks of course to any sitebuilder, and limited HTML knowledge.

But in my expereince if you are not looking for a CMS, just a "drag and drop" builder - weebly is 100000 times better than wix - as you found out wix is HORRIBLE for SEO.

If you are looking for a little more customization - just find a host that offers a sitebuilder - like Fatcow - they offer weebly pro for an additional price AND you have all the FTP abilities to make advanced HTML changes and additions after using weebly to publish the core components.

Learning HTML and becoming very proficient in it, and its counterparts (php asp ect..) is crucial to SEO though...

No not client side, dreamweaver side - It works exactly like a .dwt - but used for repetitve code such as secondary navigation, or quick links.

I verified with my own site on seo-browser.com, and as anticipated all my .lbi placed code was viewable, just not the .lbi itself as it is commented out

It is not client side, and not server side - It is just a system of "Macros" i guess would be a way to explain.

When you drag an .lbi "asset" into page it automatically places code in .lbi into page real time, no processing other than in dreamweaver to keep sync data. (or at least it does if implemented correctly)

Two ways of looking at this -

Enough from a User Experience point of View is in my opinion, what is needed to convey the message, whether it be with Words, Images or Design Elements. So it is completely dependent

If you are asking from a purely SEO standpoint, I am not sure there is a precise answer, but me personally from experience - if you are building a page you would like to rank well for a specific term no less than 350 - 1000 words - but I think this is completely relative - maybe if you put more about what the purpose of this page is, this might help others to understand what this page is about - and might be able to give a better "best practice" answer, as a page about a specific product would have less than a page explaining the many uses of a product line ect... And putting 500 words on a homepage might be bad for UX , but might be better for SE's - So intent is also a large factor

All of its SEOMOZ metrics would indicate a positive SEO response. It was cached today, which is also a positive sign. It seems to have general value and information (not just a few words about the category in broken english) Very little PPC, it did not appear to have any Paid home page links. The information is accurate.

Not sure if it will have that huge of an SEO response, as no anchor text is available and the return query URL string is very overly dynamic and alot of the inner pages were not cached and had low metrics.

$300 is a gamble, probably Vegas odds

The above are more for SEO checks, but to answer the specific A-record question, the A-record is what you would change/create to point to the new server where Wordpress install will be.

Or, if you are swithing regstrars as well you would just change your name servers to point to the new registrar/host.

Most host technical support will help you with this (domain switch not SEO checks), and some even have "free migration" services

I had been wondering the same thing... but as it says here it is understandable that it takes time as the web is only getting bigger, so the algorithm can be unpredictable, also network conditions can vary speed, even bandwidth usage I'm sure. You may just have to explain to your clients as we all know how unpredictable the internet is. I know clients don;t even understand what a simple backlink is, but it is our job to interpret the internet for them, and sometimes expectations are unexpectedly modified.

It looks as though the code being inserted by the .lbi is inline and ajax - This is why.

And kind of weird?

It is almost like they are using Assets to place a dynamic piece of code (ajax), which seems redundant to me?

But this seems to be why - It is not due to the .lbi itself, it is because the code being placed by the .lbi is Ajax.

I would assume the reason for Ajax is the easy management of adding new items, but the use of .lbi seems redundant.

(at least this is how it appears from code)

But you loose me at Ajax, as I am not sure at what levels ajax is readable and executable by bots.

WOW an SEO firm that thought Quantity over Quality is important, NO!!!!!!

I am unaware of any solution for this, as I had a similar issue due to the company i work for has changed names a few times for Branding, so before i got here there were 3 -4 Place pages for each one of our 15 locations. It sucked to say the least especially since Google does not allow the use of extensions for authentication.

I would like to hear if anyone has any ideas, although I do not think it is possible. Especially since in most cases the comments are from 3rd party sources.

I know for certain that in Google Places you can actually specify that the "Service Provider" comes to customers locations and you can set it for a radius of up to 635 miles (could be wrong on the #)

You can also hide the address, so in this instance the home address would be the place of business and would not be unethical due to probably with Tax records (and such) the Home address IS the business address, but it is hidden so will not "confuse" the end user.

I am ALMOST certain that you can do this in most local directories as well, such as Yelp and Local.com, but don't quote me on that but if you cannot ( I do not think they accept PO Boxes) so for local citations to gain Google Places exposure you may want to use the home address IF NECESSARY.

It appears from research it is actually \   (backslash)  not / (slash)

So possibly somewhere in your site you have used \ instead of /  but of course this is just a possibility, as it appears that %5C is the delimiter or interpretation of \ in original Unix.

PS a quick check at http://www.w3schools.com/tags/ref_urlencode.asp verified %5c is URL encode, for backslash - as it is treated as a special character, so somewhere in your CMS or code, you have used backslash instead of slash.

I personally would suggest against youtube and vimeo embedding in your situation ---- read what SEOMOZ associate Phil Nottingham has to say in this thread on a similar topic.

In essence what you are doing, is not really the goal or audience of Youtube in my opinion.

Look into Wisita, not only do you get conversion integration, detailed analytics  that can help you make informed decisions about the videos future, Wistia is actually seen as content, so can be indexed as rich snippets.

With that said, you can also keep it in Youtube and VIMEO, and it will not be duplicate content, just use Wistia on your homepage....

There are a few different thought processes here...

If I understand it correctly social signals are not really at the domain level, they are at the page level. Social signals are to signify trending or popular items. So by doing this you are trending a page on your site with little to no content (or purpose) other than a photo to gain likes. This MAY give the overall domain credence, in the Social World, but not sure it actually will affect the process of SEO to much.

Also the photos are smaller and worse quality when they are attached as a web link instead of uploaded to your wall directly so you may get less likes, not to forget that the CTR of links on FB is VERY LOW!

Of course you want positive social signals to your website, but is this really the way to achieve it organically and with overall user experience in mind?

Keep in mind as well that SEO/SEM are more and more everyday becoming online about brand building and Sharing the item that gets alot of likes on your Branded Facebook page can increase your brand power online.

In my opinion this strategy has merit, but employing under the idea of just gaining rankings is not really a strategy it is just another "SEO trick" that will get picked up and devalued as a webpage with little to no content so the Social Gain you made will proabably be devalued in the end, so you might as well retain the power in your Social branding.

My crawl diagnostics here in my SEOMox campaign show 19-20 urls doing this - it's nuts.
