I think you may have to enter the whole URL, but If you can, I would leave off the HTTP/S. It shouldn't make a difference as long as the code is firing.

RE: Moving from old GTM to New Version of GTM - Analytic & Adwords transaction and revenue stop refelecting
Hey Dev Dan!

Sorry for the late response times on my end. I know that has to be really frustrating. I've not had the opportunity to oversee the issues with switching to GTM so I've asked that we find someone else who may be able to help you. Hang in there! Hopefully we have someone who has run into a similar issue.

RE: How to get bing UET code?
Hello, I haven't used Bing's tracking tools because I have found them to be unreliable. However, it looks like your code containing flex.msn.com will work with UET. Here are a few different resources that may help you find and Install the new code. However, they do recommend that you delete all the old tags off your site and create new goals that will produce the UET code.
There's a video here that walks through the process pretty seamlessly.
This page speaks directly to your question for migration - and is where it says specifically that you will need to delete all of your old codes and conversion types within BingAds.
If you're having trouble creating the goal and having the correct code appear, I would give BingAds a call. They really do try to be as helpful as they can. It's been a while since they implemented UET so they should have the bugs worked out in their approach to helping you
Hope these links help! -
RE: Medical Remarketing
I haven't worked in the medical field before, so I don't know of another network you could use for remarketing. It might be better to know where your target audience hangs out on the internet and buy display space there.
The only thing I can think of to get around this retargeting option would be to build pages into your site that don't request personal medical information to see if you can clear the retargeting policies. Sites that aren't requesting personal medical information can in fact build retargeting lists. I assume you're part of the pharmaceuticals and not just a doctor's office or else you should have been able to get around the policy.

RE: Best E commerce Platform for SEO / Flexibility
As far as the AdWords accounts go, you should choose the account that is performing the best and copy everything over through AdWords Editor. Before copying everything over, you will need to have one merchant center upload that has all of the products first then it's easier to move everything to the best performing account. I don't think there is any way for your Google Rep to be able to promise a transfer of history, so the account may take 4-6 months to return to a similar performance level.
I think that managing all of these products in one place from an advertising perspective is significantly easier than running them all through a bid management system. and it's likely right now that they may be trying to compete against each other and drive up costs.

RE: Adwords inital offer / plan towards a client
Unless an angry client posted a proposal online, I don't know where you would be able to find proposal flow outside of a typical sales proposal sheet.
Typically the proposals I composed followed this vague outline:
- Key Objective of the proposal
- Restatement of the client's needs
- Case Studies that support these needs
- High Level list of urgent tasks
- Service Costs & Inclusions
- Potential overspend in the account
- About My Company
But this is entirely separate from the SOW. Please consult your lawyer on this contract addendum.
There's significant value in finding friends in the industry who work at this level (hint, hint, hint, hint) because it's hard to get people to talk about their prices and proposal tactics in semi-anonymous forums.

But Good Luck!!!

RE: Has anyone ever used Adwords' Forwarding Numbers as a Call Tracking Service?
Might be a bit off base with your questions, Cole. Just wanted to make sure you aren't planning on using the GFN (Google Fowarding Number) as an offline means of call attribution. (more info below, but if you aren't then just ignore it
)Each call will be calculated as a conversion after you specify that you want that. In the Tools> Conversions tab, you will need to add a new conversion type and mark calls as a conversion. Here, you can set the call length by seconds to determine when you want to register a call length as a conversion. For instance, I was working with a company that saw conversions happen around 8 minutes on the phone, so we set the time to the equivalent of 8 minutes and filtered for just these conversions within the UI.
Why you shouldn't use Google Fowarding Numbers outside of AdWords
It's a bad idea to use google forwarding numbers because they are only intended for SEM use. If you start plugging them around elsewhere you're not going to have proper conversion attribution to your campaigns. Google has numerous numbers that it's going to use to properly attribute the calls to specific keywords. If you pull a number that actually is associated to a very poor performing keyword (ie, it still doesn't get you calls, you just stole the number and applied it to a mailer) then Google is going to start optimizing for that keyword's conversion performance even though it's actually a bad KW.Also, there's a science involved to call tracking. I would highly suggest you speak with Call Tracking Metrics, Mongoose Metrics, or If By Phone for the technical understanding of how call tracking works and why you can't just plug numbers around.

RE: Genuine Bot or not! Click fraud?
Something additional you can do in the mean time is block by IP addresses manually. This is in the Settings for your campaigns under Advanced Settings.

RE: Can I add the Adwords conversion tracker inside a button instead of a thank you page?
First you will need to create an event.
You may need to wait until this event is populating in GA to continue, but then you will need to go to the Admin panel of GA and create a Goal. Select the option for Event here and add in your goal's details.
Assuming GA & AdWords are linked: Once your goal is registering in GA, it will appear in the "Import Conversion from Analytics" tab in Tools > Conversions and that will allow you to bid against it as a conversion.

RE: Help: Trouble converting customers with new adwords campaign for a new site
Awesome!
The only other thing that you might want to look out for is what page you're sending the PPC traffic to. Sometimes this traffic requires a lot of selling and effort to convert, so I would suggest having PPC specific landing pages that provide an offer and half of the conversion that you need on one page.
I'm sure there are many places where you can find that information, but I trust this source: http://unbounce.com/landing-page-articles/the-anatomy-of-a-landing-page/
Hope that's helpful on your journey!

RE: Adwords alternative for beauty products
I'm not very knowledgeable in this area. There are a few things that you can do though - Look into advertising in areas where mid-life women are regularly. So that would be places like AllRecipes, TripAdvisor, Health & Beauty magazines & sites (livestrong), possibly OKCupid, Match.com etc. Go to these pages and hover over an ad you see. Depending on the site they will either have a URL that makes no sense, or they will have a google doubleclick/adsense url. If they have a google URL you can target them through AdWords. Facebook advertising would put you right in front of everyone who kind of wants to buy things all the time anyway.
The Google display network is a bit tough to crack. How much work have you been putting into it? Not that it's bad to expand to other networks, but what are you looking for?

RE: Can I add the Adwords conversion tracker inside a button instead of a thank you page?
I'm not sure about the specifics around using the AdWords code for this (you may need additional code to tell the conversion tracker t, but here's the way I'm most familiar going about it: you will need to make the button click a goal in Analytics then port it over to AdWords.

RE: Help: Trouble converting customers with new adwords campaign for a new site
Hey Alec!
First & Foremost - GORGEOUS site. I haven't seen a psychic readings sight that puts so much emphasis on the human connection (through these amazing photographs you have). I love bouncing around between free psychic reading sites. I'm your worst customer haha
While I love the design, I feel like it's information is lacking. You could take some time to really provide some value prop on the first page instead of just talking about how it's free and asking people to click words that are no where on that page. I would recommend testing different images of your home page carousel first. My first impression would be to place them as: 3,4,1,2 but of course you should test to find the optimal order. Being met with a conversation about quality and legitimacy for psychic readings (at least from my very American perspective) would be something that I would already have on my mind while I was browsing different sites. So, to directly answer your cost allocation question: I think that where you put your money is entirely dependant upon what your budget and targets will allow for this year. If you invest in getting more people to the site for organic & referral traffic, then you should also be prepared financially for your business to not take off for a few months. This is a much less costly way to obtain traffic, but it will definitely cost you time. I don't know what your goals are.
If you decide to invest into a few keywords with lots of traffic and some competition, then you will need to make sure that you are converting a good portion of the traffic that you are paying for - and then the conversation leads into user tracking and such as Ray-pp & ameliavargo were discussing. No matter what direction you go or how much traffic you receive, your conversion funnel is going to determine how fast you make a profit.I agree with Ray-pp that you should consider Account Creation as a mini goal - use these people to start email marketing (FREE!) to so that you can lure back people who were already interested. Also, you can use this list to target people with facebook ads later (there's an upload email addresses feature!
). After you work these people over and start making more Real Conversions from your email marketing, then you can start to feel more comfortable about investing back into PPC. -
RE: Using + in Adwords URL
Thanks Steve! Yes, I totally agree.
There are so many options out there for tagging and tracking. Personally, I prefer to leave it up to Google unless I'm tracking the information elsewhere (of course unless you're working with Bing, then you definitely need it!). Steve, do you tag all of your URLs even when they just go directly to GA from AdWords? When would you recommend using any manually tagged parameters?
Thanks for chiming in!!

RE: Using + in Adwords URL
Unless there's something on your back end that is picking up this data, there's absolutely no reason to have this on the end of your urls. Just make sure that your auto tagging is on on both Analytics and AdWords. It's much easier to track your accounts if you let AdWords & Analytics communicate with the features that have already been created.
Typical URL tagging structures are:: .com?utm_campaign=football&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc
If you have any additional Business Intelligence team pulling information from the URL, you should discuss with them what they would like to see, but it's typically not necessary.

RE: Adwords: Great ideas on low hanging fruit for hypnosis center
The best research tools I know of are Spyfu.com, Wordstream.com, and Google's own Keyword Tool that you can find under the TOOLS tab in AdWords. There are probably favorites all around the industry but these are the few that I use.

RE: Adwords: Great ideas on low hanging fruit for hypnosis center
The page you linked to needs to be tested with Optimizely, Google Analytics Experiments, or Unbounce against another page that is much cleaner. I didn't even realize there was a form on this page. It's really busy and might not be legible for your audience. If you want a kick ass campaign, your conversion rate is going to make a massive difference on your performance (you'll have a lower CPA no matter what you're spending). You should definitely test this because long form and informational pages sometimes work better.
Typically when you're aiming for newsletter sign ups, you should have a higher conversion point on any keyword that you're looking for. I would say start with vague head terms on exact match. These terms aren't typically profitable and may lead to lower newsletter signup costs.

RE: Google Adwords traffic shows a different level to Google Trends
I searched these terms and I'm not sure what they mean. Can you provide some clarification?
In my results it shows that 880 LMS is associated to Mobius Learning Centers, which would likely have more search traffic than a part number for 2900 LMS. More information would be very useful here. Thanks!

RE: PPC Keyword list
Hi

I know this is a bit late, but I just wanted to follow up in case you were doing this again in the future.
There will always be high volume queries out there, but your goal with starting a campaign for one product is likely to make sure that product is a viable source of profit. I would suggest starting out with the most specific queries first, then moving "up the funnel" to more vague, less specific queries. This doesn't even have to be done all at once. This can be done in stages if you are trying to launch fast.
So if you're selling a specific electronic device, you can start with the specific model number, then to the most common name for that specific device (in the case of Phones, you could call it the G3 instead of LGVX####), then to manufacturer and the most general of queries (like "new phone").
