hi good question,

I have seen this question asked a few times in the past, and I also use RSS on most of my personal websites and I have never really had any problems with it. In my opinion RSS is good for pinging new content to SE's and also to 3rd party sites who take your feed.

Sure enough if the client is worried and the content is more so static on the website then I would not opt for RSS.

Yet if the client has a website where they are promoting alot of content on a daily basis and weekly basis pretty much all the time then it is advisable to ass RSS in my opinion.

In the paid version of Majestic you can see top pages.

what type of quotes are they, is it breifs for speicifc jobs and if the word count then I would split it out over a 6 month process on a weekly basis.

Recently we had a client who had internal newsletter content which had never gone on-line we have gone with an above strategy which has worked quite well.

I wouldn't put it on a new domain imo, only if you are worried about the quality, best place would be on a sub folder.

It is not just search query volumes local results are affecting.

I have a strong feeling it is playing on CTR across search results as well. I have seen some research on local keywords where we see the position 10 for a GEO term get 20% CTR overall.

But yeah things are changing with the way local results display and this change has been rolled out over the last few months and if not years. But the thing is Google also tests and changes results as well.

To be honest with you I do not think it will be a problem, I have dealt with one website where we have sub folders with 10 various languages.

If the sites currently rank in both markets it should also be ok imo.

Have you also set up sub folder GEO targeting in Google webmaster tools too?

If your brand is been mentioned alot on line it can be good for the following:

• It can have a positive impact on Auto Suggest if people search for it a lot (Brand+ Term)

• You can research out to websites who mention your brand and ask them to link back to you with the article, I would track brand mentions with Google alerts.

• But overall if you have heaps of people just typing your brand term on a bunch of websites it is not going to help your overall link building efforts, you need to do the hard work to reach out to sites to acquire the links.

Its all relation ship building.

DMOZ links and directory links in general will not hurt the website if they are decent quality.

Last October I interviewed a Google Search Quality employee who confirmed this and also confirmed high quality directory's are still fine to use: http://jamesnorquay.com/an-interview-ex-member-matt-cuttss-search-quality-team/

But that been said out of the 130 lower quality sites I would check them over to first see if they are indexed and then to also see if they have PR on page and also the general style of the directory. If you are concerned I would look at manually removing them if possible via out reach or if worst case scenario and they are very low quality I would use the Disavow tool.

To be honest mate I would find out from your blogs which pages are the most linked too, then 301 re direct these at bulk, map out the re directs if you have time to relevant pages.

But yeah I have come across a similar thing with a few WP sites I changed structre on, you do see a loss in page based ranking so I fixed it by mapping out re directs, these blogs were small but.

If pages are not been indexed you can try and add the urls to Digg.com or Stumble Upon for example.

As said above it could also be other reasons for not been added to the index, no content? robots block? Server issues? Dormant pages not internal linked to?

I think it is every month or 2, I don't know if it is set in stone yet usually Rand will post up an update on the main blog saying that the index has been updated. My advice is just to follow the email RSS and you will get the updates when updates happen

Another method I have been using for a while, just to check the number of indexed images:

1. Search for site:www.website.com

2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and hit "switch to basic version"

3. It will then show the total number of indexed images via Google.

I am sure their are other ways you can do it via crawlers and analytic's reports too.

I have used Host Gator and GoDaddy in the past. To be honest I find Host Gator to be a better for what I needed at the time.
Overall these three solutions are entry level hosting providers.

No problem Joseph, a blog is a great way to add related content to your site and connect up with potential customers.

You can even run say a event in your local area, blog about it then link it up to your business.

but yeah really push the link building and adding quality content along with on site fixes.

further on site fixes are:

• H1 tag - contact us (Make a target term) * Main title tag - place keywords first brand term later in the title. example [Keyword - Brand term] * Internal meta descriptions text are the same.

• Social Media links and activity is limited, I would try to push some social links and activity.

Hi the best tool you can use is the ad preview tool from Google:

With this tool you can view how your website ranks for all different GEO locations around the globe

I guess you could push the "Located in Canada" message on your domain, and on the meta description for example to increase CTR. If you want to increase authority and ranks it is a question for the whole domain.

This is an issue you will see in all markets, even in Australia for example .com.au is country specific TLD will do well, yet US companies on .com will still rank for long tail. You just need to push the "Buy local" message in your titles/ Descriptions where possible. My advice is test it and see what happens.

A decent post on estimating the CTR of Local listings can be found here, yet you need to remember specific terms may have far more local intent then other terms. For example "Mobile Phone Sydney" may never get the same CTR as "Best Pizza Sydney"

I believe the standard version of Disqus is not SEO friendly yet the version SE Roundtable has made is a good way to fix the issues, same with with Facebook comments they are not SEO freidnly yet you can hack them up to make them SEO freindly.

Furthermore I disagree with William comments can be a great source of extra content I mean take a look at the blog we are on here SEOmoz, the content adds to the page count like crazy Some posts have 100 x 100-200 character posts, some are a few words.

OSE is updated every month or so as per the OSE update schedule. Usually when it happens rand posts up a blog on the main site letting people know an update has taken place.

Also OSE whilst it is great it does not crawl the whole web also benchmark your links built from data in Google Webmaster tools - back links data section.

Blogs are great for SEO because you have a platform for search engines to provide fresh new content, the problem with static websites is that the content is always the same. This is where blogs always push new content.

Well the best bet is to have your blog located on www.website.com/blog  people make a mistake when they have the blog on a sub domain because you don't have the right flow of link juice.

Hi you can do it easily,

You just need to do the file in two different languages, and split the uploads in different uploads..

Some tips from Google include the following:

• Each file should contain all of your listings in that language.
• For all files except your initial file, you should select 'This file adds to my current locations.'
• Make sure when you upload that you change the language selector in the upper-right hand corner of your Places account.
• Each listing (even if same business in another language) should have a unique storecode; that is, the same location should have different storecodes for each country's listing.
