Asking to be inculded after post has gone live. Bit of a no no? Or common practice?
Isaac, Ask away! Site wont include you if they are not aware that you exist. What better way to let them know then to reach out ask for links back to your quality content. I would refrain from using spammy language and try to be real and authentic with your approach. Build relationships with the site owners. This sense of friendship can payoff in the long run. But remember your content has to be quality! Thanks, Don Silvernail

Negative keywords on AdWords account, but mispelling in customer query still triggers ad. Possible to avoid?
Thanks. At least it's good to know that there no full proof way of avoiding this. I think you're right about starting with exact match and expanding outward in this case. It's a pity because we have some other campaigns that do well from broad match, capturing a plethora of variations on similar KW queries. They vary rarely triggering wasted clicks. Many thanks to you both. I appreciate the response.

Number of internal links and passing 'link juice' down to key pages.
Hi Issac, To your 1st point: "Google says it does not use GA as a way of measuring user behavior. Regarding GA, do you just mean we should use it provide **us **insight that Google will 'pick up' in others ways?" Yes, this is a more succinct way of putting it. While GA metrics are not the be-all, end-all of algorithmic rankings, they do go a long way in explaining why certain sites/pages/content outperform others in SERP's. I know that improving my "time on page" or "bounce rate" has resulted in higher rankings for various pieces of content I have created, although with so many factors in play it can be hard to narrow it down that far. To your 2nd point: That's how I choose to operate. I have found that reducing internal links is a good start when it comes to improving user experience assuming that each link provides value or answers a question. The simplest way I can explain my process is that I sit on a page, look at the links and think, "If I were one of my customers on this page, what questions/needs would I want answered?" Based on the answer to that question, I have an idea of how many links I should have on the page. The "magic number" of 100 isn't something I pay attention to, although it is a good place to start - if you have more than 100 questions (see: links) coming from 1 page, you are probably not condensing your pages enough. Hope this helps! Cheers, Rob

Post index of quality back links; How long should you leave it to see if it's had any impact?
Hi Cesare. Appreciate the response. 8 to 12 weeks for new content ranking is my experience also. However, when we got a link from a different charity (about 18 months ago) our rankings jumped up in the SERPs 2 to 3 weeks after that link being indexed. So I imagine the answer is not the same for on page/ off page signals. I'll happily stand correct though. Anyone else care to comment?

Pitching your products to a niche... how to be in the right place at the right time?
Hi, The answer to the first question is yes - many publications, including niche titles will have a features calendar available, or will regularly email enquiring if anyone has products, news or can help with features... Second question? In addition to HARO and Pressloft, I'd look at the big PR lists etc. It does mean dealing with some spam requests, but can be worth it if you have the time.

Canonical in Shop Areas of an E-commerce Site. When and Where?
Isaac, This is the same issue that I mentioned a fix for on this thread: https://moz.com/community/q/should-i-be-worried-about-our-duplicate-content If you canonicalize product A to product B, product A will eventually drop out of search engines' index, not what you want to happen. Read through the recommendations I made on the other thread.

Should I be worried about our 'Duplicate' content
That does help thank you. Really appreciate your time, and I can see how the extra content on the products pages could help with conversion.

Using Google to find a discontinued product.
Yes, that would make for a better internet indeed. A lot of these occur because the merchants keep the discontinued product URL in their feed and/or the page returns a 200 status code. Technically this should be considered a "soft 404" since what the user was looking for isn't there.

Exact match keyword phrases, are they still really important to search engines?
Hi Isaac, Those are different queries. And yes it does matter to Google the exact match keyword phrase. That said, it raises the question: How much leverage does google give it? Well, it depends and varies from site to site. In the case that you are optimizing on-page, keep in mind to not over optimize for that phrase and add some variants (such as you've said, or adding some extra words to the phrase). In the case that you are analyzing a link profile or willing to "do" backlinks, try to keep the exact match not over the 10%. Of course there is no magic number, its just to be safe. Hope I've helped. GR.

Can we talk a bit more about cannibalisation? Will Google pick one page and disregard others.
I think that "2017 Diaries" has a bit of competition and this site is still getting started. It probably has slowly rising traffic but needs some high-quality linkable, shareable, noteworthy content that people want to read. The blog is focused on product promotion rather than something to inspire the customer to write, plan, schedule, etc.

Google is simplifying my meta titles. What does it mean?
Issac, When you say "simplifying" can you give us an idea as to what that means? Do you mean shortening or titles are truncated, etc. or do you mean the title convention is changed? So "Hot Fresh Bagels | Bagels Dallas Texas | Bobs Big Bagels" is now what? your question is to unclear to provide a reasonable answer. Thanks

Making the most of a good back link
Hey. Thanks everyone for theses great answers. Very informative. Doesn't look like any of their blog posts have established any backlinks, so I'm gona guess that our link should have the value same value as the older ones. Looking forward to Google finding it

Delay between being indexed and ranking for new pages.
This is something I've seen on websites of all sizes. I've worked with a couple of well-respected colleges - the type of site that you would think Google would automatically trust - and it took anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months from new pages being indexed to ranking as high as they can go without more help. We actually charted the rise of one article, written by a professor, with a link off the homepage of one of the college sites, and it took over a month to stop rising in rankings. For reference, this was about a year ago. So, I think Alan is exactly right: I think that Google wants a lot of confirmation signals that a page is legit, and it takes awhile for its crawler to identify all of them. Google values how long a page has been around, and click through rate, which comes over time.

Services like press loft? PR services that are good for our products.
Yeah Press loft worked a treat for us... but we make personalised products that are easily given as gifts so worked well for the platform. Yeah i'd be really keen to find other similar services that are a bit more generic (and cheaper). Anyone?

Back links from sites like Wix & Wordpress.
Excellent. Thanks for the correction. Essentially what I thought would be the case, but good to know for sure. Isaac.

Keyword reserch 'blends' to much. How to decide on focused landing pages?
Yeah good call, thanks. The link to the 'Keywords to concepts' content was really useful. Isaac.
