I was actually thinking of adding a link to our website, from our EBAY store. Not link from our website to EBAY. Is that ok? And do you have any thoughts on duplicating our content onto our EBAY store, or should that be different as well. Our website has a lot of really good information. So if we use our Websites Content, on our Ebay store, will that hurt our Search?
Our company is setting up a store on Ebay. Is it okay to duplicate our content descriptions on our ebay store with a link going back to our website? Or would this potentially hurt us in Search?
Looking for recommendations for an internal search bar for magento. I would like to be able to sort the products when searching. I would like to preferably sort by price when a product is searched. And am looking for a better search experience.
I am curious to know if an ecommerce website plays a role in higher rankings. we have been struggling for some time on a term and all of our competitors have an online shopping cart. we have a custom magento website with a request a quote form as our products are very costly. (range from $500 - $250,000).
Is there something we can add to the code to help boost our rankings?
I have 3 domains all hosted on the same Magento Enterprise Platform. Each domain targets a different county.
.co.uk, .com.au, and .com.
Can I add all three sitemaps in my robots.txt file?
Yes it will be eCommerce. We want people to come to that page or the parent category page to find what they need and either request a quote or purchase online. Can you explain long tailed search as i am not to familiar with that.
This makes a lot of sense. So since we have about 20 manual cold saws, how do I optimized for the 20 manual cold saw pages, if there is not many other search recommendations for that key phrase. That is not even the most important key phrase for us, it was just an example, but what if that is the situation but the exact and phrase search volume is very high. What else do I do to get around optimized multiple pages for that same phrase? Or do I not optimize that page.
I found some really good resources on here regarding how to optimize for product pages, however I have one question.
We carry about 20 different products lines. EX: Cold Saws, Band Saws, Press Brakes etc. For the cold saws product line we have Manual Cold Saws and Automatic Cold Saws. Same for Band Saws.
Since the products are very similar and people are technically only search for manual cold saws, manual coldsaws, manual cold saw machines etc. Each product line has between 10 and 50 machines.
How do we optimize each product page for 1 keyword phrase.? Can I have about 5 manual cold saw pages target the same keyword phrase or does each page have to be targeting completely different key phrases? like, manual coldsaws, manual cold saws, affordable manual coldsaws, etc.
If someone misspells our company name in Google, how do I get google to display
**Did You Mean: **xyz.
Our company name is difficult to spell and could be spelled multiple ways. What is the trick to this?
I have duplicate title errors in Wordpress and I cannot pinpoint the problem. I have my blog set up so that the home page of the blog has the most recent posts.
In my campaign report somehow the page directory is being found and I can't find any links on my blog to those pages.
the errors are on pages that are like the following
I am using Yoast and I thought I had it set up correctly. The other pages have the correct title and canonical tags, but he urls ending with page do not, but the page directory is duplicating the home page title. How or where can i fix this issue?
My hosting company turned off directory browsing and now everything is how it should be. So to my understanding, if the server sees a file that does not have a index file, it should not be view able and should be forbidden. This shoujld not affect us from an SEO standpoint should it? My hosting company said they disabled all directories in our site, however everything still works, except for the forbidden file directories.
Will turning of directory browsing affect Search for all directories?
I really don't want to 301 redirect them as they are just holding files. This is happening with my includes file too. that holds our header, footer, navigation etc. I can check with our hosting company to find out.
I noticed bad 404 error links in Google Webmaster Tools and they were pointing to directories that do not have an actual page, but hold information.
Ex: there are links pointing to our PDF folder which holds all of our pdf documents. If i type in , example.com/pdf/ it brings up a unformated webpage that displays all of our PDF links.
How do I prevent this from happening. Right now I am blocking these in my robots.txt file, but if i type them in, they still appear.
Or should I not worry about this?
I just recently switched hosting. We have 3 domains and 1 being the main domain. Right now they are set up as parked domains. Can I redirect the parked domains under my main websites .htaccess file ? I am just worried that good we will get hit for duplicate content, even though technically the content is only on our main domain. right now if I type in my parked domains in Google, they appear in search.
The site is all hand coded and not using a CMS.
Very strange issue I noticed today. In my SEOMoz Campaigns I noticed thousands of Warnings and Errors!
I noticed that any page on my website ending in .php can be duplicated by adding anything you want to the end of the url, which seems to be causing these issues.
Ex:
Normal URL - www.example.com/testing.php
Duplicate URL - www.example.com/testing.php/helloworld
The duplicate URL displays the page without the images, but all the text and information is present, duplicating the Normal page.
I Also found that many of my PDFs seemed to be getting duplicated burried in directories after directories, which I never ever put in place.
Ex: www.example.com/catalog/pdfs/testing.pdf/pdfs/another.pdf/pdfs/more.pdfs/pdfs/ ...
when the pdfs are only located in a pdfs directory!
I am very confused on how to fix this problem. Maybe with some sort of redirect?
In the past, it was always a good thing to put your most important keyword or phrase at the beginning of the Title Tag with the company name at the end. Now according to the over optimization penalty in the Whiteboard Friday video, it seems to be better to be more human and put the company name at the beginning with the keyword or phrase following. Am I understanding this correctly?
