Hummingbird - Client took hit. Anyone else?
I have experienced a few huge ranking drops (eg 28 positions in one week) in the last month. I was wondering if it was to do with hummingbird?

@moz staff Where does OSE get Facebook Share information?
Hey Francisco! For Open Site Explorer we pull shares of the exact URL you are looking up from public Facebook pages. 'Likes' are also pulled from public pages from Facebook's API and not the Facebook Page or embedded buttons on the URL. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions!

@staff When is Moz Analytics coming out?
I suspect the answer is something along the lines of "soon" (tm) with a pinch of "when it's ready". Having been in software far too long, the absolute worst thing they could do is unleash it as beta to us when it's still a little flakey or inconsistent. Analytics that aren't consistent and correct are of marginal use (yes, ok I know about Google Analytics issues), and would probably generate a whole load of support requests - time that will be better served polishing and completing the service. Would probably lead to a lot more questions along the lines of "are we nearly there yet?" too! I'm sure there's a few carefully chosen alpha testers who are willing to put up with pain, compare with Google and other analytics and not rely on it for any sort of decision yet. Me, I'm happy to wait until they think it's resilient, consistent and accurate enough to survive us, the great unwashed. At which point I hope to be very happy to have the option to kick GA into touch.

PHP Framework Question! Zend, CakePHP, Symfony, CodeIgniter. Finally I get to ask something.
Hey Highland. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I use Magento all the time. I remember how slow it was in 2008 when I 1st started using it. I value your comment "The key to our simplicity is copious documentation (inside and outside the code)." I think this is the main problem we had run into before and my fear is that the current programmer is the only one who understands his own work. We trust the guy with all the information, but he's so slow at getting things done that I sometimes want to get him some assistance. But that new person may have to decipher everything. I have taken some courses in PHP, but I don't code because I'm the one bringing in all the money to the company via internet. I don't have the time to code, although I would love to do it myself. "Life is too short for Java." LOL

For all newbies
Good reminder. Much like anything in life, if a SEO tactic seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Can anyone recommend any good PHP books for beginners?
I started with one very nice tutorial in https://tutsplus.com/, it's a pity that can't find it now because I have to continue soon with it and it was very useful and free...

Open Site Explorer - Finding 404s from my competitor's external linking Root Domains
You could also look to Blekko or now Bing for some of that link data, in addition to SEOmoz, and run it through a status checker like Eppie described.

<bs>Will someone give me a "thumbs up" so I can become an Authority and get my SEOMOZ T-Shirt?</bs>
HAHA, your remark was funny. All that work for a t-shirt. Yes.... I give a lot of free advice here. I do like guiding people and teaching. Thanks for the "thumbs up". I can't wait to get my mozBot Guru Trophy. (hehe)

SEOMOZ Glossary
Hi Francisco, That's a great idea! If you wanted to, it'd make for a good YouMoz post. We have one from 2007 that did quite well at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/smwc-and-other-essential-seo-jargon. It is missing a few of these terms though. I can see a shorter glossary, but with links to help/login pages about these terms, as a useful piece. Keri

I NEED ADVICE: Need Web Software for customers to access backend
I'm not a Wordpress expert, but theoretically any CMS that supports user accounts and permissions can do this, and the rest would configuration/custom development. Would the information mostly be files/data from other sources (e.g. spreadsheets and word documents)? You might be able to get away with an FTP/SFTP solution if that's the case. If actual information (e.g. from your own database) and interaction is needed then you're definitely going to have to do something custom; I don't think there's an 'out of the box' solution that will do what you want. The amount of work involved would be relatively small though I'm guessing, probably 3-4 days for a good programmer depending on the platform/database/desired functionality. Speaking personally, I wouldn't be a fan of Wordpress for a financial application, it just seems like every quarter there's a new exploit. Another thing to watch out for is your hosting; when I'm doing PCI upgrades/certification/audits shared/virtual hosting can be something of a pain to work around. I don't know if the applicable standard for your task would be more or less strict.

For SEOMoz Staff - Can You Make a Better Referral Badge, PLEASE?
Hey Francisco! You are correct we have both. The affiliate program is designed for non-PRO members, and opens us up to working with networks of sites that are closely related to ours. The payout is $25 per lead. The referral program is really meant for existing PRO members, and helps us reward our PRO members for recommending us to clients, friends, etc. The payout is $100 credit to your account. The idea here is that we believe both PRO members and non-PRO members can have friends, visitors, etc. that might be interested in PRO. We wanted there to be options for sending qualified leads our way. We believe in rewarding anyone who mentions us, hence both options. hope that helps clear it up! Joanna

Can anybody recommend a link building company for outsource?
I too am looking for someone to do link building. I have heard mention on these boards of Paul and Angela's back links and then did a Google search for a term that P&A ranked very high and came across a company called SEOlace. I went to their "SEOlace" site and checked out some testimonials and then the particular clients PA and DA numbers to see if they were decent. The sites that used SEOlace appeared to have good DA, at least so far as their testimonial sites. Any members that could provide feedback or sources would be appreciated. I am sure many members especially the newer of us could use some guidance. I have learned a lot from SEOmoz and know I need to be blogging and doing social to really build up some links. I think a lot of us who recently started never got the chance to build up links pre Panda and are perhaps at a slight disadvantage if we can't accelerate our links in some fashion in addition to blogging and social as our competitors have thousands or tens of thousands of links ahead o f us.
