I am a WordPress designer and can service national clients. I want to rank on the first page for the keyword WordPress designer. This is a highly competitive keyword MOZ gives it a 68% difficulty. I rank locally in nj for WordPress designer nj and a multitude of local WordPress based key words. I rank on page 10 of serps doing a private browsing session. Some of my national competitors rank on the first page with not many links in.
How could i be so low on the serps for the base keyword WordPress Designer but for local WordPress designer nj be number 1 everytime?
What should be my best plan of attack if i want to Rank much higher for this one specific keyword hopefully page 1.
I think this one keyword could increase business greatly so it is a top priority for me.

Then your answer is simple, Google sees your content as having more value then your competitors on the given keyword. The keyword you are ranking for may not be very competitive or you have optimized well enough to give you an edge. The keyword you are not ranking for may be more competitive or your content is not seen as having the same value as your competitors. Keep in mind Google's main goal is to give the searcher the best information possible. That in and of itself is not solely based on domain authority, page authority or linking domains. In fact you should take this as good news. Your ranking as #1 may help you get quality back links or increase visits and revenue for that keyword.
Try doing a private browsing session and see if the rankings are the same. Search engines tend to give local results based upon your ip address. You may rank #2 for that keyword based upon your location if the others on the page are not local the local topic may suite your search needs better. If your ranking drops on a private browsing search then you know it is due to location. There are other factors such as; how many visits you have to a page, if your logged into google while you search, and other metrics specific to you directly.

I agree a single page for all the keywords being used as naturally as possible. I was just not sure if a page for WordPress Web Design or WordPress services would conflict with a dedicated page just for generic web design. You guys have set me in the right direction.
Its funny, I always have the right direction when working for my clients but when it comes to your own websites and seo optimizations it always helps to get a second pair of eyes. We are all bias to our own work.

I am a web designer who predominantly works with WordPress at the moment but I have the ability to work on any platform. Now locally I rank high for terms like Wordpress designer nj but my broad keyword web design nj has been on the decrease. From page 1 to 5 or 6 now. I would like to rank on page1 for this term regularly as it provides the best chance at new leads. I currently do not have a page on my site dedicated to web design alone my focus has all been Wordpress. is it recommended to create a separate page to rank for web design keywords as well even though the majority of business I do is with Wordpress?
Make Sure your site Title is edited properly within WordPress. From the left sidebar in your back end select settings---> General then site Title. Do not add anything to the tagline as many themes use this as the title also. Yoast does not let you edit the home page title through the plugin unless you are using a static home page.
If that is the case you must go to Settings ---> Reading then select the page you want as your static page. This means the page must already be created. If you do it this way you can use the Yoast meta boxes to insert your title.
The second office is branded entirely different, The only thing it has similar is the business name. In fact both websites are branded toward their respective urls,

Each website makes note that there is another office in a separate location. The only thing that brings them together is the logo which is archer law office, llc They are in their own right two different businesses.
So what would be the proper way of expanding the local search radius? We are doing fine about ten miles out. Should we create a second page dedicated to the 2nd office location? this is what i am asking for the best way to implement a local campaign for the second office. Remember there is already a lawyer in the second office location that practice injury law. Should a second page be created on the website about elder law? should I do it for both websites?
I have a client who has 2 locations approx 20 miles apart. He wants to reach new customers at the second office location. He is an owner of a law firm he practices elder law, in the second location he has an attorney who practices injury law. The second location is in an area where targeting prospects for elder law could also be lucrative. We currently have two separate websites for each area of law.
My question is...
Would it be suggested to create another elder law website to target the potential clients in this second location.
Also for the first location we have put in place a content marketing strategy that has increased revenue considerably. Basically creating content (blog posts) that resonate with the target audience. If a new website is in order can the blog post be posted here too with a canonical referencing the original website. Im thinking a slow redistribution of content on the new site.
Advice here is greatly appreciated as this new market for my client could increase revenue even more.
I handle mostly small business and provide SEO optimization services and content creation. My question is about local search.
what is a reasonable amount of local search traffic for small service companies. For instance I handle an electric and hvac company with an estimated population of 100,000 people within a ten mile radius. With approx 20 companies who provide competition. Should I expect 10 hits a day 20, a hundred? How do I quantify results on a local level as to not make expectations too high.
The good metrics I have is the amount of prospects who have found my clients through the web and purchased services. That percentage is high. But Is there room to improve if my client received 15 hits a day?

I'm sorry when I say re-post I mean the original content to social media and other sources meaning not the first time it has been posted. You can update the original posts to reflect new data, content, or re-optimize for new keywords if the originals are not working.
I have had great luck re-posting older blog posts to google+, stumble upon, and to a lesser effect Facebook. Twitter can always help too. Its ok to rehash old posts make changes to them to reflect current information then re-post. You can also optimize them for new keywords and try top expand their reach. Do an outreach campaign and try to get others to link to your posts to increase traffic as well. Keep in mind social markers are only part of it, If the content is not relevant to today current trending topics it may loose ranking.
Each profile should have a different URL correct? Then you can add information to your profiles that would always be different or make some field mandatory like last name or address before the profile can be created. Are the profiles supposed to be searchable from search engines? If not no-index them.
I just checked out many of the branches for your business doing some google searches. some things of notice are titles being to long, breadcrumbs not showing destination page in search results ex(its says "back to tools" not the branch page you are on) Try using long tail keywords, most of your keywords in title tags are broad such (access platform hire) try adding more local or region based to start with. You may just have competition issues with your keywords, being the optimizations are so young. The page you have posted using the open site explorer tool is showing a page authority of 1 with no links pointed to it. The page is very young. You may just need time for your strategy to develop. Keep building links to your branch pages not just the main domain. In time things will turn around. Make sure you use google web master tools and check the queries under search analytic s for keyword opportunities.
