I know many e-commerce platforms have modifications for this. If by chance you're using Oscommerce or OscMax then you shouldn't have an issue finding an appropriate add-on.

From my personal experience, while this is certainly an SEO related issue, the answers are best provided by the software or platform you're running. For example Oscommerce uses a URL re-write to deal with this and provides you the ability to modify the specific title and meta data.

If your site is running on https only, then a simple edit to your .htaccess file will correctly re-direct (301) any request for a http page to the correct https page.

Sample Code:

RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on

RewriteRule .* https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]

There are several ways to handle this, so you may also benefit from Searching ".htaccess 301 redirect http to https"

Free Links (link building), forums, blogs, community related sites to your industry. Just be sure the person is NOT spamming, there is a certain finesse to post links on forums & blogs that is required.

On Page Analysis get a list of your top X pages and have them run reports on each one, save to PDF.

Link building is a never ending process, but we try to just get a couple decent links per week now...... when I first started my day consisted mostly of link building.

And if you're in sales I'm sure you have some personal or company content that could be proof read, or generated.

I took a quick look and didn't see anything major. I would say from my personal experience if you had some hack activity there maybe something left on your server that is still causing issues.

AWCthreads makes a huge point. The best SEO resource I have found the customer, or page viewer. If they are truly helped by the content you offer they will eventually do the best link building you can hope for.  Generalzod also brings up a good point, if you have great content that is just sitting there because nobody can find it.. then what good is it really doing?

If you don''t have good regular traffic that may stumble upon the new fresh content then you'll have to go where your demographic is.

I will give an example: About 4 years ago I was working in the gaming industry as a software seller . A new game was coming out, I talked with my distributor, and got in on Beta testing. From there I joined the game's official forums. I soon found most people were using a fansite to talk about the game, so I joined the fansite. I played the game sporadically enough to engage in general conversation. Eventually, after being a somewhat established member (about 2 weeks of posting) I decided to let the people know I worked for a company that would be selling the software and could get anybody who wanted it a discount. That caught the attention of the owner of the fansite who in turn posted my sites banner on his page for free. That little work turned into 100's of sales and tons of links on all sorts of similar type forums and blogs.

When I was hired on at my company the site had been built with Absolute Positioned Div Layers... that said there were H1 tags at the bottom of the page.. Dreamweaver isn't very friendly about where it puts these types of layers. The site still did fairly well in the ranking despite this..

That said, I wouldn't personally put a H1 tag in the footer, I would want it as close to the body tag as possible. Though given the way AP Div's work you could have a H1 tag next to the body tag and still be in the footer.

Is it possible to for you to add canonical tags on the archived / pages to point to the most relevant page?

I used the SEOMoz.org http://pro.seomoz.org/campaigns Campaign tool which reported any duplicate content / tags and fixed them, for our company's official website.

Our secondary site which is an Oscommerce installation threw a bunch of duplicate content errors but somehow the Campaign crawler was crawling URL's that weren't really URL's
ie a category page is outputted as /as568-nitrile-c-33_39_43.html but the crawler was hitting /c_33_39_43.html which is a valid url but it was forgoing the URL output function we're using.

It also helps define product specifications for feed searches.. "froogle" -> "google base" -> now "google products" and other shopping sites can use that info to return your products with higher relevancy based on the users choices.

I hope somebody else chimes in. However, I do believe that the suggested 100 links is a good rule, it isn't always applicable for every page. In the case of a homepage, I believe it is perfectly acceptable to have more then 100 links as it is a primary landing page.

If you read the suggestions from the On-page Analysis tool it does concede the point of it being okay to have more then 100 links but no more then 300. Which makes sense,  some of the Wikipedia pages have ump-teen-million links and still rank very well.

I kinda knew it would stir the pot after I posted it, but that wasn't my intention. The "Fade" of Facebook, Twitter and at one time MySpace was initially propagated by youths (10-25), while it may not be pre-teens or just teens / youths using them now, I do give them most of the credit for making them the success they are now. This trend isn't unique to social networking; online gaming, cell phone apps, ring tones, all were once not cared about by the older demographics are now starting to become mainstream.

Again I wouldn't discount Social Networking as a viable tool for certain markets, I will not concede the point that it is valid for all markets.

As for the female comment.. that may have seemed off base, but I was only speaking from my demographic 35-40 year age group. Considering world wide I can certainly see that more males may actually use social networking since large sections of the world do not give female's the same respect and rights as males.

Content & Site Appeal

I assume that is because you searched for HCG Diet, Google is highlighting your keyword. Try searching for

"HCG Diet HCG Drops" and see what it says.

You do have a lot of pages, I will point out that you have some duplicate title tags, and pages without meta descriptions.

Golf, Overseas, T-Shirts.. I would recommend running a Crawl Test as it will point out major issues like this.

Site seems to provide a good user experience, very pleasant looking & easy to use, from there I guess you need to make sure you have done the SEO Basics.

That said...

As far as getting links, that really is one of the last aspects and atleast for me, a never ending process. What you want before you start worring about who is linking and from what domain is make sure you site is built correctly.

Title Tags, Descriptions, appropriate use of keywords, favorable unique content, correct internal linking, appropriate alt tags, use of H1 - H4 html attributes.. all this in no particular order.

To begin with I would start by taking each page, and evaluating it for that pages top keyword with the on page analysis tool. There it will make suggestions on what you can improve.

Once you're comfortable with your content and SEO pass. Then start submitting to search engines, and work on building your link structure.

Great that is exactly what I needed to know.

The best way I can explain why question is with an example.

Lets say I have a parent parent page that is focusing on a broad keyword.
I also have a sub-page which is focused more on long-tail keyword variations.

When I make an internal link and give it a title tag, should I give it the long-tail keyword for the juice, or should I use the broad keyword for the parent page's relevancy?

Also in regards to your hyphen question. For the same reasons you should try and get the actual non-hyphenated name. For example my company owns rubberstore.com but there is also a rubber-store.com which was out before us and sell radically different products. Our first traffic started arriving quickly for people searching for their product types.

Now if you type rubber-store in Google you'll find our website first and not theirs.

In this case they would be treated as different pages and credit given to each as such.

Now if you didn't have unique url's rather some sort of switch via javascript or database entries that are served based on the language they choose.. then it would cause issues.

I have to agree with both of you. I almost feel like social networking is a fade, which is propagated by tweens & teens and females in general. I will admit that it has done wonders for viral marketing campaigns and celebrities who want to interact with fans. For companies not directly related to these general demographics I can't see the benefit of spending much time investing in trying to make it work for you.

The reality is, the information you want the public to know about can be found on your website, why this must be regurgitated on all these social networking sites is beyond me.

A plural and non-hyphenated version of each.

We did make some changes in this pass that shown duplicate keywords, however we always tried to keep our higher up pages broad, then focus the keywords on specific pages.

My main concern was with spam. I don't want to say o-rings & orings if they are actually the same word and could get us into trouble for spam.
