Server location - Web Hosting
Does it matter where your web hosts servers are located? For example you're a UK based company and your web hosts servers are in Belgium. Does this effect rankings ?

RE: Is social networking really worth all the effort?
Social Media is my sales person, I am active on all channels. We've got more leads through social media than through networking, and organic and PPC. I only go on social media and personally interact when there is nothing on TV or I am actually looking to see if there is anything interesting going on. Traffic to our site is hugh so is the bounce rate but without it I would need to hit the phones daily.

RE: HTTP or HTTPS for blog website
As Dennis as hinted we went to https, we saw an increase in traffic and ranking when we swap to https. We also made sure site speed was rapid as well.

RE: What is a loading time of my website?
3.52s thats quick
If you're using cPanel for your web hosting go to optimise website and tick the middle option this will Compress All Content. That will give you a slight increase on the score on Google site speed.
If they're saying images need caching put the following into your htaccess you should get up into the 90's.
EXPIRES CACHING
<ifmodule mod_expires.c="">ExpiresActive On
ExpiresByType image/jpg "access 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/gif "access 1 year"
ExpiresByType image/png "access 1 year"
ExpiresByType text/css "access 1 month"
ExpiresByType text/html "access 1 month"
ExpiresByType application/pdf "access 1 month"
ExpiresByType text/x-javascript "access 1 month"
ExpiresByType application/x-shockwave-flash "access 1 month"
ExpiresByType image/x-icon "access 1 year"
ExpiresDefault "access 1 month"</ifmodule>EXPIRES CACHING

RE: Why is a poor optimized url ranked first on Google ?
Agreed the end user doesn't care about SEO. But if the user experience is even horrendous difficult to navigate it must have a high bounce rate.
One site I am not going to mention but the server he is running is blacklisted for email spam, I know one SEO company report them for Spam to Google, they're keywords stuff, poor user experience looks like its from 1999 and has spammy links. Still sites above sites which if we took Google advise. High quality content, good user experience, not too many links on page, nice and quick to load it is absolutely everything opposite to Google is recommending.

RE: Why is a poor optimized url ranked first on Google ?
I don't think Google really has sorted the algo's out, there seems to be absolutely no correlation. There are sites on my targeted keyword list which no way should be on the 1st page of Google however they're up at the top. Even with higher domain authority, page authority better link profile and sites speed. Sites which are keyword stuffed also rank in the top 3 positions.
It would be great to see what other moz'ers are experiencing

Which bits are you getting stuck with? I will drop you an email

Leverage browser caching
anyone know a good tutorial on how to implement Leverage Browser Caching? Do I need something like cloud flare or can I add meta tags to do this?

Keyword Stuffing
I am working with a client which has amazing results on Google but his site hits every "no no" to any of the google algros. The site has duplicate content, keyword stuffing, poor content and poor UX. However the site ranks p1 on any of the keyword searches. The site has about 2000 pages all duplicated maybe 1 our 2 words changed. I am a little apprehensive to get him to remove the duplicate contents and remove the keywords stuffing if it means he drops traffic and loses page rank.
I have also noticed competition to me rank higher on keywords when they've got a list of keyword and locations i.e web design windsor, web design manchester etc... etc... however they don't seem to get penalised.
Is there any accurate tools to check keyword stuffing? and has anyone else experienced this and has any recommendations to tackle this?

RE: HTTPS entire domain Vs. one URL
We've just swapped our site to SSL and we've noticed a big difference on some poorly performing pages. We jumped several positions and slight traffic increase.
I think SSL would definitely benefit any site.

RE: Disavow Links - how do you know if it's worked?
Thank you for this, it answers the question. I am going to get the sites which shouldn't of been cleaned out back into the mix.

RE: Site wide no follow links
Hi Keri
No not really, I have quite a few guest blogs on our blog area. Some of the links maybe a little low quality so I thinking make them all no follow. I am definitely going to make my comments no follow.

Site wide no follow links
Does it make sense to make all external links on my site no follow?

RE: Disavow Links - how do you know if it's worked?
Thanks Bill, I can see some sites on the list so I can resubmit without these key urls

Disavow Links - how do you know if it's worked?
I asked another SEO company to analysis my link structure (as I was too busy!) As I was flat lining on some work I was doing. They said I potentially had an algo penalty and that i need to do a disavow , even though I had no messages from Google saying I had unnatural links. stupidly I agreed to the disavow. Looking at Webmasters tools it seems they've submitted a bunch of links. Since they've done this traffic dropped by 60%, ranking dropped massively. In google Webmasters all the links which are meant to be removed are still showing. How do I know if the actual disavow has been done? And should I do a reconsideration request? Even though Google hadn't flagged an issue ??
