Should i put an introduction on my site for better seo
Hi, my site is www.in2town.co.uk and we have been having serious problems with our site since our upgrade.
Before the upgrade, our site was on the first page of google for many years and most of them we were in the top three, now however since the upgrade of our site we have had serious problems.
The main keyword for our site was lifestyle magazine, but now after checking this keyword we are now on page 12, this has gone down over the past couple of days.
we had an introduction and information about our magazine on the home page, trying to rank for the keyword lifestyle magazine, we were jumping from page nine to six to ten, we took the intro off as a developer said that we had done enough to rank well for the keyword without putting any text with the keyword on our site, but since taking it off, we have dropped down more in the rankings.
I would love to hear from people on their thoughts on this and if we should put back the intro at the top or where they feel we should put it and should we put about the magazine at the bottom.
I was always taught, if you want to rank well for a keyword then as well as doing all the linking, you also need to make sure you optimize the page with the keyword
looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this

RE: Have I done enough seo on this page to make a difference
thank you for this. If it was you, would you put an introduction on the page, maybe about us at the bottom or something near the top. i have just looked at the amount of times i have lifestyle and will reduce it.

RE: SEO for an independent fashion brand - the right tool for the job?
i would use twitter, use the hash tag about the site and the products, find out if people have used the product and start to get a buz about it. look out for any celebrities who may have used the product and then tweet them, see if they answer.
Talking from a PR background, if you can get a buz about your products and your site then life will become easier.

RE: Have I done enough seo on this page to make a difference
thank you for this. Was the advice i was given to get rid of the intro at the top and also the about the magazine correct.
I was always taught that you need to optimize the page and have a certain number of keywords in there otherwise you will not rank, however a developer has said to get rid of those keywords as google will see what the magazine is all about, but not sure how it can when the page is not saying that it is a lifestyle magazine.
This would be the same as a dedicated page about the ford capri, ok i am going back a bit, but if you had a page which was about the ford capri and you wanted google and people to find that page then you would have important keywords of ford capri and car, so this is where i am puzzled, the developer is telling me to get rid of those keywords.
can anyone please explain, how i am supposed to rank well if i have stript the keywords out

Have I done enough seo on this page to make a difference
Hi, my home page has been a thorn in my side for as long as i remember. On normal sites i am ok with seo but when it comes to my magazine site it is a whole new ball game as everything is different.
I have been working with a developer who has told me to remove the intro to the site on the home page and to move the bottom of the site which was about the magazine but i am not sure if this is right.
I want the site to rank well for the following
Lifestyle Magazine
now before our upgrade, we ranked well for this and other words, we were number one for a very long time and then stayed on the first page but now since the upgrade, i am jumping from page 9, 10, to six and not sure why that is happening.
I would like to know if the advice i have been given is correct, have i done enough on the page to rank well for lifestyle magazine, or should i be doing what i have been taught previously where i should be having an intro to the site so google can pick up the words lifestyle magazine and other words.
the site is www.in2town.co.uk
many thanks for your input

RE: How can i improve my blogger
hi, sorry i do not think i explained myself properly, i was talking about the actual blogger, the way it looks.
i want to know if there are any designs out there to make it look tidy and if there are any articles out there that i can read to make it look more professional.
i signed up for the blogger account a few years ago and have only really used it to show intro to my articles but now i would like to make it look better

I would like to know what i could do with my blogger to make it better and for it to stand out. at the moment i just use it to promote part of an article but want it to look nicer and more professional

Is it worth adding your rss feeds to directories
Hi, i have been doing some reading this morning where people say it is a good idea to add your rss feed to directories and i would like to know what people think.
Is it really worth it to add your rss feed to a directory where you then need to add a link to their site and if it is worth it, how are people doing it. Are you creating a link page on your site
look forward to hearing your thoughts on this

Carwling and indexing problems
hi, i have noticed since my site was upgraded that google is taking a long time to publish my articles. before the upgrade google would publish the article straight away, but now it takes an average of around 4 days.
the article i am talking about at the moment is here
now i have a blog here on blogger and the article was picked up within six mins
http://showbizgossipandnews.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/stuart-hall-has-his-prison-sentence-for.html
so i am just wondering what the problem is and what i need to solve this
my problem is, my site is mostly a news site so it is no good to me if google is publishing new stories every four days, any help would be great.

RE: Does google know every time you change content on your page
since the update of my site, things have been a bit funny. i was seeing my site get crawled every four days and now sometimes it is daily or every two days. is there anything i should do to get it crawled more often.
You say about the authority, is there anything i should be doing to improve this.

Does google know every time you change content on your page
What i mean by the question is, so on our home page www.in2town.co.uk we change the article under lifestyle story of the day, if this changes every hour, will this encourage google to visit that page more often or will then just ignore that and just visit each day
would love to hear your thoughts on this

RE: How do sites manage to rank better with no fresh content

RE: Meta description tag problems according to an seo tool
just to let you know that i have now sorted the issues on the home page and we have jumped from page nine in google to pay six in the past 12 hours. so many thanks for your help it has done wonders.
can you let me know about the below as i have looked at we see it with the www.
On you health page it has the canonical URL of http://in2town.co.uk/health-magazine (I don't remember wether it was with or without www) - and this is the proper way to do it.
-
RE: Meta description tag problems according to an seo tool
thanks for this. i am having it re done on the home page as there were two of them
hi it should be with the www.
i can see it as
<link href="[http://www.in2town.co.uk/health-magazine](view-source:http://www.in2town.co.uk/health-magazine)" rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" /> -
RE: Meta description tag problems according to an seo tool
so basically i should get rid of this one
<link href="[http://in2town.co.uk/](view-source:http://in2town.co.uk/)" rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" /> and put the one i had in but if i put this in the head, this will mean it will be shown on every page unless i am wrong
